Social Media and Immigration

Hello 

 

just heard that they can look at Your social media and use it to aid in determining fraud and such. They  say you can have too much information and too little information on social media. My fiancé is a very private person and he has nothing about us on his Facebook account. I hope they don’t look at his snd think we are not real. We love each other very much

 

Has anyone else heard this or heard their social media was reviewed?

I agree with this. If you are in a country that uses the DS5535 they specifically ask for the names of all your social media accounts to review them (Facebook, Instagram, all email addresses used x 5 years, all phone numbers used, etc)

There was a thread about a couple of months ago where the person posted their denial letter for a spousal visa from Morocco (I think).

 

In one of the reasons for denials in the long list was, "Beneficiary used social media to frequently target women in other countries" or something along the lines of that.

I agree with stopping fraud, but so much is subjective

This is yet another reason why K-1 couples should avoid affectionately or jestingly referring to themselves as husband/wife or hubbie/wifey in ANY social forum or electronic form.

Yes!! I listen to this attorney show on Facebook Monday through Friday Called the  Brad and squeeze show And they went over A whole list of things not to do. I love that show I have gotten so much information and you could ask questions And they will answer them.

i had to look up what that form is, but it seems like that would only be used if you came from, traveled to or were affiliated (by family, etc) to 'certain' countries that are not looked at favorably right now.

Typically that does seem to be the case, but not always.
