  1. Hi, Filipino beneficiary here, On DS-160, there is a part that asks for employer phone number. My current employer only does employment verifications through email (no phone no. at all), and my past employer’s supposed phone number for employment verification is just, let’s say, broken. Doesn’t pick up at all. There’s this link that says for questions that do not apply to you, you can answer “Do Not Apply.” https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/forms/ds-160-online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/ds-160-faqs.html In my situation I feel it is fair for me to use the “Does Not Apply” answer, but can anyone provide any similar experience or insight? This is a rather uncommon situation and Im aware employment information is not as important on K1, but just wanted to make sure by asking. Thank you.
  2. Hi, Filipino beneficiary here. On DS-160, under Previous Work/Education/Training Information, it asks for “course of study” for my senior high and junior high experience. I attended grades 11-12 for senior high and grades 7-10 for junior high. What I plan to enter for junior high course of study is “academic,” and for senior high, I am torn between “vocational” and “Accountancy Business and Management (ABM),” the strand I took here in the Philippines as a senior high student. I appreciate any insight. Thanks :).
  3. Our K-1 petition was approved by USCIS, transferred to NVC, and received by the embassy in Bangkok. I received the Packet 3 & 4 email saying we can schedule our interview. I know we need to fill out DS-160 and also do the GSS stuff (create profile ustraveldocs.com, make payment, and schedule interview), but I can't figure out which of those to do first. It seems like each of them depends on each other and it's circular: DS-160 asks what date you intend to come to the US, but how can you do that before you know your interview date? And you can't schedule your interview until you've done the GSS payment. The GSS form asks for your DS-160 confirmation number, but how can you know that number before you've submitted DS-160? Some people say (link 1, link 2)the DS-160 confirmation number is the same as the Application ID that you get when you start the DS-160 application ("AA" followed by 8 characters), but the embassy instructions say "Each visa applicant must have his/her own DS-160 confirmation page in order to receive an interview date", which implies that you need to submit the DS-160, not just start working on it. Bottom line, it seems like both forms require you to submit the other one first. I'm confused. Any help would be much appreciated.
  4. Hello, I am the petitioner for my fiance k1 visa and we have an Interview appointment at the Guangzhou Embassy in August. We submitted the Ds-160 a month ago. Due to unfortunate situation I've had to change my permanent address. I've moved to a new house in the same town. My affidavit of support will contain my new address. The DS-160 has my old address. Do I need to update the DS-160, submit, print the confirmation and send again? -Matt
  5. Hoping someone can help: My sister in law was denied a F1 Student Visa at the interview in Manila. I understand we don't need to pay the SEVIS fee again as long as its within 12 months. Does she need to create a new DS-160 on CEAC Again? or can we just schedule a new interview at the embassy and pay the $160 fee? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hello! These groups have been really helpful throughout our K1 process so I want you thank you all advance! We're almost ready to submit our DS-160 but I have a bunch of questions that came up during the process. Some may be silly but we just want to be diligent. I understand it's a lot but any answers are appreciated!🙂 1.) First off, our NOA2 has just expired about a week ago - we were busy gathering documents and waiting for the NVC welcome packet that never came (which we just realized not everyone gets). Our case is "Ready" according to the NVC site. I reached out to the embassy but haven't heard back - do you know if it'll automatically be reinstated/extended? 2.) I just want to clarify that when the DS-160 asks for Petition number, it's the USCIS receipt number starting with WAC and NOT the NVC case number starting with LDN. 3.) When they ask if I used any other email addresses in the last 5 years, should I include my work one or no? 4.) The question regarding any other relatives (aside from immediate family) in the US - should I answer yes if they're my 2nd cousins? 5.) Employment information - I put my current job but I've been there for over 5 years (12 years in total) so when they asked for previous employment over the last 5 years, I filled out my current job information however they would like an end date - there is not "current" or "until present" option to choose. Does anyone know if there's a workaround for this? Should I just put the employment I was in before my current employer, i.e in 2011? 6) They worded the next questions in a way that tripped us up a bit - they said if we answer yes to any of the following questions we may risk additional screening but the last question was "do you have documentation that proves your vaccinations in accordance with the US law?" to which I've said YES. Just want to make sure this is okay and that I haven't misunderstood the question? 7) Am I supposed to register with a courier service on a separate website when I book my appointment? I read this somewhere a while back but haven't come across anything recently. Or will I just be redirected to the payment page once I click submit on my DS160 and book my appointment? 8.) Also on that note, for payment of the actual application fees, I'm assuming (as above) we pay once we submit the form/schedule the interview, is that correct? Or should I be paying the application fees elsewhere separately? And are there any other fees I need to be aware of (aside from the medical costs)? 10.) My last dose of the Hep B shot will be April 6th. If I show proof of that at the medical, would I still be able to go ahead with the medical before I receive that last dose? 9) for documents required for the medical: If I never had TB, do I still need to provide documentation saying I haven't? 10) How can I leave the country before my permanent residency is granted? My brother is due to get married in Egypt towards the end of this year and I'm already super worried and stressing about missing it as he's my best friend. Has anyone left the country after getting married but while still waiting for adjustment of status, and if so, would you mind sharing your experience? For example, is there a form I have to submit every time I want to leave? How long is it valid for? How likely is it to get approved? Etc. Thanks again so much and sorry about the length of this! Good luck everyone!
  7. Hello all, I filled out my DS-160 application for a B1/B2 visa in August 2021. I booked an interview appointment at the time for October 2022, at my country of citizenship. In June 2022 I became a Canadian PR, moved to Canada and have been living there since then. In October, I will be travelling to my home country for the US tourist visa interview. There is a question in the DS-160 about being a permanent resident of other countries which at the time of filing (August 2021) I was not. I currently live and work in Canada, but I also have a job in my home country. I have bank accounts in Canada, the US and home country as well. Is it recommended that I fill out a new DS-160 form with my new status as Canadian PR and use it for the interview? Is it still okay that I attend this appointment in my home country? (I believe so, my passport is from that country, but just would like to confirm). Thank you for your time!
  8. Hi! Here I am with another question about DS-160. My circumstances: I starred working as a freelance translator in 2020 and this is my current occupation as well. In the year 2020-2021 I worked online as a freelance translator while traveling the Philippines. 2021-2022 I came back to my home country (Russia) and switched several addresses since then. When I was filling out my I-129f I looked up what to put as my work address if I’m self-employed, and it said “your home address if you work from home”. So stupidly enough I put the dates of my employment as 2020-current and put my address in Russia at the time of filing… The problem is that right above it in a different question it states that my home address for the year 2020-2021 was in the Philippines (you can ser the picture attached). I just realized that. The petition was approved. Now I’m filling out my DS-160 and it asks me about my work history again. Should I just put “2020-now *My current home addresses* (different from what I put in I-129f since I moved out)” there? Or should I do it very detailed, with dates for every address I used? For example: 01.01.2020-01.06.2020 *address #1 Philippines* — self employed 01.06.2020-01.01.2021 *address #2 Philippines* — self employed 01.01.2021-01.06.2021 — *address #1 Russia (the one listen in the petition)* — self employed 01.06.2021-now *address #2 Russia (my current address)* — self-employed? Thank you in advance!
  9. Hello! I’m filling out DS-160 for my K-1 visa and therebis a question about countries I resided in for more than 6 months. My situation is: 2017-2020 I stayed in China on a business visa. I did not hold a residence permit and I would do a visa-run (leave and re-enter the country) every 2-3 months since despite my visa was a 1 year visa the maximum period of uninterrupted stay was 90 days. Should I list China among countries I lived in for longer than 6 months? Or it doesn’t count because it wasn’t an uninterrupted stay?

  11. VJ members, I'm gearing up to apply for my parent's tourist VISA and this community always has been super helpful. I had some very basic questions. 1. On DS-160 form, Is it okay If I fill out in English? My parents do not speak English but i assume they will provide translator in embassy on their interview. 2. Does US Embassy in Nepal even take any financial documents from me or my parents? I heard from my friends and people I know, they don't let pass any documents inside the embassy and solely based on interview. Could anyone please enlighten me? 3. After I fill out DS-160, how does scheduling interview works? Do they put them in backlog or Do I have to manually hunt to got interview dates?
