    Help please!

Hello!. My fiance and I just scheduled his interview at USEM in Manila. When we got to the confirmation page it says DS-160 confirmation number. The thing is, he hasn't submitted his DS-160 yet. Is it normal to have a DS-160 confirmation number on the interview appointment confirmation page even if the DS-160 is not submitted yet? Or could it be because he did a DS-160 last year (march 2018) for a tourist visa, which was denied. He used the same profile. But the profile has been updated before setting up this interview. Is this a possible problem? If so, how do we correct it?. Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
  2. Can anyone help with this? When we first submitted our DS-160 application for the K1 visa the status said: Ready. Now after waiting for 4 weeks for packet 3, our case status says: No status. Does this mean we just need to wait for packet 3? Are they changing over our application to an immigrant visa?
  3. Hello everyone, My fiance had his interview at the Sydney consulate a little over a week ago. He was given the 221(g) form since he did his medical exam a day before his interview. (Sydney allows people to do the medical exam a day before since they only have a few on their list of certified doctors for the interview). Firstly, I would like to know an estimate of how long it would take for the medical exam results to be sent to the consulate and how long it takes for the consulate to look over that before making a decision? Secondly, when we go onto the Consular Electronic Application Center to check the visa application status, it says "No Status". I read online somewhere that the status gets updated before you have your interview and after you pay the DS-160 fees. As I said we have already had our interview, so that means we have also paid the DS-160 fees. Is there something I am missing? I am honestly really worried that I missed a step. We were hoping that he would receive his passport back with the approved visa before October, but at this rate I am kinda getting worried that our plans will have to change.. Thanks! 😽
  4. Approved by USCIS July 18th We have our NOA1 receipt, but no NOA2 because they forgot to put an APT number on the address. NVC was contacted and I have Email/Letter from NVC. We are in READY status. Waiting another week for Passports to arrive so DS-160 is not complete. Printed Application Fee Receipts today and will pay the fee today or tomorrow. Question: After we pay the fees, can we go ahead and schedule an Interview or do we need to wait for the NOA2 document to arrive in the mail and the DS-160s to be complete?
  5. its about the Ds-160: Travel Companion - I the petitioner plans to go back Philippines when my fiance's visa hopefully gets approved so that we can do a proper goodbye to her family.. and be able to fly out back to US with her since its her first time flying also. I'm a little confused on the travel companion options in DS-160 because if you say you are traveling with someone" there is no option saying "traveling with Petitioner/Fiance" so what should we do at this point, just say No? on the question asking if my fiance is going with anybody?
  6. So we received the email stating the NVC has sent our approved I-129f application to Naples for the interview, yet we haven’t received the confirmation that it has arrived in the consulate. Yet the NVC instructions were to prepare for the interview, part of the interview is filing the ds-160 application. So my question is when should she file the ds-160 application? After being addressed from the consulate that the I-129f has been received or ASAP or sometime before the interview? Thanks!
  7. Hi all, Our k1 visa application recently got passed from the NVC to the consulate in UK. After I got notification from NVC, I looked at the instructions to take and was under the impression I could submit the DS-160. I did that but afterwards I looked at the instructions and was told by NVC that I should wait for the consulate to contact me when they receive my application. Is that correct? Will there be any problem that I submitted the DS-160 before the consulate received my application? Also, I wanted to ask how the embassy will contact me. Will it be via email, letter or both? I'm pretty sure the embassy has received my application now as I was tracking it on the DHL website. Is there anything I can do in the meantime, or should I just wait? Thanks!
  8. Hello! Do you have to wait to hear from the consulate in Ankara, Turkey before you file your DS-160, or can you go ahead and submit it as soon as you get the notification from the NVC that they've sent your file? Thanks, Sam
  9. Hey everyone, So we just registered to get our interview and we are still waiting. Does anyone know how long the Johannesburg consulate takes to get the interview ball rolling?? Right now it states there are "No available appointments". Our email letter from the consulate on next steps for K-1 visa/instructions was sent on May 10th. Then it says something about 1-4 weeks to schedule interview from the date the NVC receives package from consulate, is this said "package" the DS-160 form?? I am totally lost on that bit. I am in hypervigilant mode and don't want to miss a thing! Thanks everyone for ANY help on these issues. Best, Megan
  10. Hi all, After calling NVC and getting our case number(Case created on June/07/2019), I completed my DS-160 and was about to sign. Realized that in the end, there is a declaration checkbox to be checked: "I hereby certify that I have received a copy of the IMBRA Pamphlet as part of my application packet ". Not sure if we can just check this box and go ahead or wait until they send ? Anybody checked this checkbox before receiving and got through without any issues in the past?
  11. Hi all, I'm sure some people will be annoyed with this question as I'm sure it has been asked on here a million times. However, I hope some one can help me understand the process a bit better once the NOA2 is received. We received our NOA2 on April 26, 2019. I do know to give them time to receive our petition, assign a case #, etc. I have two questions: 1. As soon as we receive a case # from the NVC can I then go online to complete the DS 160? Or should I wait to receive the packet 3? 2. Once I complete the DS 160 online can I then log in to schedule an interview? Or should I wait until packet 4? The reason I ask this question is because I just read this on the U.S. Embassy & Consulates In Canada website: "DS-160: Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, is for temporary travel to the United States, and for K (fiancé(e)) visas. Form DS-160 is submitted electronically to the Department of State website via the Internet. Consular Officers use the information entered on the DS-160 to process the visa application and, combined with a personal interview, determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa. Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories, including applicants applying for K visas. (Note: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate prior to October 7, 2013, review the limited exceptions explained in the FAQs below.) Review the Frequently Asked Questions for instructions about using the DS-160. Access the online DS-160 by clicking: Consular Electronic Application Center website. Important Notice to Visa Applicants: After you have completed the DS-160, you must take these next steps below: Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page. (You will not need to print the full application.) You must schedule a visa interview appointment. (The U.S. Embassy or Consulate does not schedule an appointment for you.) Visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will be interviewed for country-specific instructions.; Pay the visa application processing fee. Review country-specific instructions on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website." Any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated. If you are annoyed with this topic I apologize and please just don't respond. Thank you.
  12. Hi all! I would like to share with everyone what I did after receiving the visa interview eligibility letter from the US Embassy in Manila: I sent an e-mail confirming that I have completed my DS-160, as instructed in the letter. I'd like to show y'all how I wrote the e-mail and how the Embassy responded; just so you guys would get an idea of what worked for me and what to expect. I know this matter a trifle, but maybe it'll help someone out there anyways. To give you an idea of my progress, here is my timeline summary (2019): Sent I-129F - Jan. 24 NOA1 - Jan. 30 (6 days) NOA2 - Apr. 18 (78 days) Case# - May 9 (21 days) Ready - Jun. 3 (25 days) Eligibility Letter - Jun. 6 (dated), but received in the mail Jun. 14 The eligibility letter says: "...You should notify the Embassy by e-mail at support-philippines@ustraveldocs.com once the DS-160 has been completed." and: "When communicating with the Embassy by telephone, e-mail, letter, or fax, always refer to your name, case number and visa category as they appear below. Sincerely, Immigrant Visa Unit" (Your info comes right after this part) With these in mind, here is a template of how I constructed my e-mail: Notes: (1) For the header, I inserted Visa: K1 as it was not on the bottom section. (2) I attached the 2-page PDF file of the Confirmation Page, not just page 1 (although I think they only needed that one, I went for the safer route). (3) I sent the e-mail on Friday afternoon and got the response Monday afternoon. After 1 business day, this was the embassy's e-mail response: Welp. That's me trying to be useful. 😂 Good luck to everyone!
  13. Hi, Could someone help me on the question: Have you ever been issued a U.S. Visa in DS-160, as I have multiple visas issued previously- below : Valid Visitor visa (Validity until 2022) H4 visa (No longer valid) F1 visa (No longer valid) There is no option in DS-160, to add another visa. So I'm unsure what to enter in this section?
  14. Hello, For the last two weeks I have been trying to fill DS-160 online form for nonimmigrant visa application. My work keeps getting interrupted, incessantly and out of the blue, with the "session has timed out". I don't know what is causing it. I have all the information necessary at hand to fill the document and so I am not inactive for more than 10 seconds at a time. I have tried using different browsers but to no avail. I hardly ever have "session has timed out" happen to me, but when it does it is once in a blue moon. It is really frustrating! In this case it is happening every minute or so. I can't even reload the saved ones without the "session has timed out" stabbing me in the heart. I would appreciate any help, any suggestion, and ideas from anyone. Really...any!
  15. Hi all. I have my interview on Friday, and I've just checked through my submitted DS-160 and noticed one tiny typo. I typed the Travel Information section zip code of our address wrong. I typed xxx09 instead of xxx08. It's correct when it asks about my partners address (which is the same) in Family Information. I understand I can't change a completed DS-160, and I can complete another one, but is this really necessary for such a small typo? Can the CO fix it at the embassy for my interview? I've read on here that having 2 DS-160's can complicate stuff and I really don't need that stress
  16. Hi! Does anyone know what situations you need to update the DS-160 for (as in, create a whole new one to submit). We've some minor changes since i last submitted the DS-160 but I don't want to resubmit the whole form again unless it really is necessary. Everything on the form was 100% correct at the time of submission, but my interview is on the 10th Oct and my last day at work is 3rd Oct, so technically my current employment will have changed (I did write in the Job Duties section that I was finishing on 3rd to get ready for moving) The other potential update is that my fiancee changed his name legally in the US to make my name change process easier (we are taking on a new married name rather than hyphenate or take each other's names). He has sent me an official version of the name change document for me to take with me to the interview but is this grounds for updating the DS-160? I think my main concern is, if I update my job on a DS-160 form I'll have to update my fiances name too. Does anyone have any experience with this or similar issues? Any help would be appreciated.
  17. Hi everyone! I'm here to ask some clarifications about the information we should input into the DS-160 form. I initially filled it out smoothly, thought it was a pretty straightforward task done; until I started viewing Youtube tutorials and saw other K1 applicants doing it differently, instilling doubt into my overthinking mind. 😂 So I'm seeking help from my fellow Filipinos and/or others who know the answers to the more general questions I have: 1. Beneficiary's name: I simply entered my given name and surname as asked; but some say we should include our maiden name because it should match with our passport info. Which is it really, and how do we include it if ever? 2. National Identification Number: I checked "does not apply" at first but some say we should indicate our SSS number on here instead. Is this correct? 3. Passport Book Number: I thought I should check "does not apply" (I don't think the Philippine passport has one) but others re-entered their passport number on here...? 4. Persons traveling with you: Again I thought this would be null because technically I am the only applicant, it wasn't a family trip or group visa or anything like that. But others who are being fetched by their petitioners have included the petitioner's name as the travel companion. Well, as it turns out my fiance is fetching me, too. So should I list him as my travel companion or is that unnecessary? 5. Immediate relatives in the U.S. besides parents: Again (lol) I thought this would be null, but others have included their fiance petitioners on here. Is that necessary, or is this question pertaining to relatives by blood/marriage? I hope I'm not asking stupid questions (though I might be over complicating things?) 😅 Will definitely appreciate any help. If my post is redundant with another thread please send me the necessary link. Thanks and good luck to all!
  18. Hi All, We have our interview scheduled and we printed out the DS-160. I know there are some things I've read that say it might not be needed but we are in the better safe than sorry mentality right now. At the end though it asks for signatures. It has a spot for spouse's signature but I assume that isn't me. Since I am not officially the spouse yet and I am not going through the interview. I made the assumption that its probably for a different visa since this is probably a somewhat universal form. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hi, Has anyone had problem with filing out the online form DS-160 when you are unable to save previous employment and school you had attended before the current one? Both me and my fiance could not include those info as the website does allow that? is that a bug? Many thanks! Sincerely, Loc
  20. My fiancee stayed in Ukraine initially as a tourist but then stayed about 9 months traveling between different cities. The Brasil Consulate website says and the DS-160 had a similar question but said to declare countries that you "resided" in more than 6 months. Residency is more specific and refers to where your home is (for example establishing tax residency). Since she was traveling and her home was in Brasil she answered "no" to that question. But now she is worried because she called the Ukraine consulate in Sao Paulo and they said they do not provide police certificates. She is also worried that they think she lied on her DS-160. Anyone have any experience with that?
  21. I was wondering if the CO-Sponsor also fills out the DS-160 or just me and my fiancee? I saw the example version from this site but I did not see anything with Co-sponsor on it.
  22. Hi Everyone We are filling out the DS-160 and we have been looking all over the place to know where to find the 'Passport Book Number" on my Fiance's Colombian's passwort, I see a 'AAXXX" number on her passport but it says "passport N" nowhere there is anything showing "Passport Book Number" can anyone that has done the DS-160 and have been approved let me know if the Colombian passport has anything call Passport book number? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you
  23. Hello, I hope you all are doing great in this nerve-wrecking visa process. What an adventure it is... I am seeking some advice, since I am really confused and struggling with an issue with my application: my O1-B visa application was recently approved by the USCIS, but now I am scheduling the corresponding interview at the consulate and I am struggling with the question "Have you ever been unlawfully present, overstayed the amount of time granted by an immigration official or otherwise violated the terms of a U.S. visa?" This is my information: I applied for an O1-b visa from the United States while on OPT (and D/S on my i-94), but the application was denied on March 23. The denial said that I (or better said, my petitioner) had 33 days to fill an appeal, or, otherwise, the decision would be definitive. My petitioner and I seriously considered the appeal, but finally discard that option. Thus, I left the United States on April 24, which means 32 days after the denial, and one day before the period to fill the appeal expired. I thought that during those 32 days I was not accruing unlawful presence, but apparently I was wrong and yes, accruing it. I moved to my country and re-applied again from there (France, where I currently am) and my petition was approved on December 1. I am filling the DS-160, where I have to answer the question above mentioned about overstaying. So, even if my overstay came from the explained circumstances of evaluating the possibility of filling an appeal (and thus I think I had good reasons for my overstay), I am answering "yes". My questions come now: there is a section stating that I can explain my answer; what should I write there? Or simply said, is my argument, even real, convincing enough so that I pass the interview? Should I come up with a different angle to answer that? And also, do you think that my overstay of 32 days is going to ruin my chances of being approved by the consular officer? Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my question, I much appreciate it. Best
  24. Hello, I my case was update on the CEAC website and listed as "READY". I have been collecting all my documents for the interview and getting everything ready for that point. I have gone ahead and completed the DS-160 and submitted it. I have not been able to pay the fees though. If I go onto the link to pay fees ( which is listed under immigrant visa) I submit all my info and once I enter it.. It brings a notice that k1s are non-immigrant visas and I must submit a ds-160 before paying fees...which I have already done. Is there something I am doing wrong or am I not supposed to pay yet? I'm a little confused!! (MONTREAL EMBASSY) ...help
  25. Hello I am currently in the process of filling out the DS-160 application and came across the question; Have you ever entered the U.S.? I live in Niagara falls Canada and have frequently visited the states throughout my life. Is this question really requiring me to identify all 40-50 times I've entered over 20 years? Thank you for your time and wisdom!
