  1. Hi All, We have our interview scheduled and we printed out the DS-160. I know there are some things I've read that say it might not be needed but we are in the better safe than sorry mentality right now. At the end though it asks for signatures. It has a spot for spouse's signature but I assume that isn't me. Since I am not officially the spouse yet and I am not going through the interview. I made the assumption that its probably for a different visa since this is probably a somewhat universal form. Thanks, Eric
  2. Is anyone else having trouble with the "save" functions of the DS-160? There seems to be one section in particular that flat out will not save - I've tried everything I can think of and the thing will not save the following: Family -> Fiancé -> Fiancé Address -> State/Province and Postal/ZIP code. All other sections save fine, also the street address and city in the specific section above save fine, just not the state and zip code. It's really strange and highly annoying as we were planning on submitting today.
  3. Hi, Has anyone had problem with filing out the online form DS-160 when you are unable to save previous employment and school you had attended before the current one? Both me and my fiance could not include those info as the website does allow that? is that a bug? Many thanks! Sincerely, Loc
  4. My fiancee stayed in Ukraine initially as a tourist but then stayed about 9 months traveling between different cities. The Brasil Consulate website says and the DS-160 had a similar question but said to declare countries that you "resided" in more than 6 months. Residency is more specific and refers to where your home is (for example establishing tax residency). Since she was traveling and her home was in Brasil she answered "no" to that question. But now she is worried because she called the Ukraine consulate in Sao Paulo and they said they do not provide police certificates. She is also worried that they think she lied on her DS-160. Anyone have any experience with that?
  5. I was wondering if the CO-Sponsor also fills out the DS-160 or just me and my fiancee? I saw the example version from this site but I did not see anything with Co-sponsor on it.
  6. Hi Everyone We are filling out the DS-160 and we have been looking all over the place to know where to find the 'Passport Book Number" on my Fiance's Colombian's passwort, I see a 'AAXXX" number on her passport but it says "passport N" nowhere there is anything showing "Passport Book Number" can anyone that has done the DS-160 and have been approved let me know if the Colombian passport has anything call Passport book number? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you
  7. Hello, I hope you all are doing great in this nerve-wrecking visa process. What an adventure it is... I am seeking some advice, since I am really confused and struggling with an issue with my application: my O1-B visa application was recently approved by the USCIS, but now I am scheduling the corresponding interview at the consulate and I am struggling with the question "Have you ever been unlawfully present, overstayed the amount of time granted by an immigration official or otherwise violated the terms of a U.S. visa?" This is my information: I applied for an O1-b visa from the United States while on OPT (and D/S on my i-94), but the application was denied on March 23. The denial said that I (or better said, my petitioner) had 33 days to fill an appeal, or, otherwise, the decision would be definitive. My petitioner and I seriously considered the appeal, but finally discard that option. Thus, I left the United States on April 24, which means 32 days after the denial, and one day before the period to fill the appeal expired. I thought that during those 32 days I was not accruing unlawful presence, but apparently I was wrong and yes, accruing it. I moved to my country and re-applied again from there (France, where I currently am) and my petition was approved on December 1. I am filling the DS-160, where I have to answer the question above mentioned about overstaying. So, even if my overstay came from the explained circumstances of evaluating the possibility of filling an appeal (and thus I think I had good reasons for my overstay), I am answering "yes". My questions come now: there is a section stating that I can explain my answer; what should I write there? Or simply said, is my argument, even real, convincing enough so that I pass the interview? Should I come up with a different angle to answer that? And also, do you think that my overstay of 32 days is going to ruin my chances of being approved by the consular officer? Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my question, I much appreciate it. Best
  8. Hello, I my case was update on the CEAC website and listed as "READY". I have been collecting all my documents for the interview and getting everything ready for that point. I have gone ahead and completed the DS-160 and submitted it. I have not been able to pay the fees though. If I go onto the link to pay fees ( which is listed under immigrant visa) I submit all my info and once I enter it.. It brings a notice that k1s are non-immigrant visas and I must submit a ds-160 before paying fees...which I have already done. Is there something I am doing wrong or am I not supposed to pay yet? I'm a little confused!! (MONTREAL EMBASSY) ...help

DS-160 have you ever entered the U.S.

Hello I am currently in the process of filling out the DS-160 application and came across the question; Have you ever entered the U.S.? I live in Niagara falls Canada and have frequently visited the states throughout my life. Is this question really requiring me to identify all 40-50 times I've entered over 20 years? Thank you for your time and wisdom!
  10. Apologies for the possibly stupid question but my fiance and I received our NOA-2 approval notice a few days ago. We are now currently waiting for any contact from my local embassy here in the UK to schedule a medical/interview etc, but I noticed that we had the approval number and that was all that was required to start working on my DS–160 form, so I went ahead and filled the whole thing in and submitted it today… Was that jumping the gun at all? Or is it fine seeing as it needs to be done *sometime* before the interview?? Just trying to speed things up a bit... Might also start working on my vaccinations/medical questionnaire/police check documentation while waiting for an embassy interview date too....!
  11. Before this K1 application, I have applied for US Tourist Visa twice (Year 2009, for holiday and year 2011 to visit my grandmother who was terminally ill.) Both tourist visa applications were denied. For the question, " Have you ever been refused a US Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?"- should I answer Yes or No? If yes, what details do i need to put in the "explain" box? Thanks for your help! :-)
  12. Hi all, So we received an email on 20 Sep. saying our case has been transferred from NVC to the local embassy (in Jkt, Indonesia). Since then, we have not received any correspondence from NVC or the embassy (no mail has been sent to my fiance's address either). At this point, I'm wondering what the next steps are? Does she fill out the ds-160 online before hearing anything back from the embassy? When/how do we submit documents like the Affidavit of Support/Proof of Income, etc? How does she know where to go for the medical check-up? We have both tried calling the embassy and writing emails (both have gone unanswered). We're confused and not sure if there are proactive measures we should be taking or if we just wait for the embassy to get in touch before we do anything. Thanks so much for your help.
  13. Hi! Does anyone know what situations you need to update the DS-160 for (as in, create a whole new one to submit). We've some minor changes since i last submitted the DS-160 but I don't want to resubmit the whole form again unless it really is necessary. Everything on the form was 100% correct at the time of submission, but my interview is on the 10th Oct and my last day at work is 3rd Oct, so technically my current employment will have changed (I did write in the Job Duties section that I was finishing on 3rd to get ready for moving) The other potential update is that my fiancee changed his name legally in the US to make my name change process easier (we are taking on a new married name rather than hyphenate or take each other's names). He has sent me an official version of the name change document for me to take with me to the interview but is this grounds for updating the DS-160? I think my main concern is, if I update my job on a DS-160 form I'll have to update my fiances name too. Does anyone have any experience with this or similar issues? Any help would be appreciated.
  14. We have gotten approval of the I-129F. We are getting ready to set up for the interview. My fiancé has 2 children. One will travel with her, and one will follow to join. I am not sure of the process. I think I understand we need to fill out a DS-160 for her and the child that will come with her, and set the appointment for both together. As far as the child following to join, do we fill out a DS-160 now and indicate he will follow? Or is there some place on the DS-160 to say she has a child that will be filling out a DS-160 later? Or do we fill out a 160 for all three then indicate the follow to join at the appointment part of the process. She will be more lost than I so I am trying to make sure I have a handle on everything. I looked at a sample 160 and don't see anything about it. Please clarify if you have experience. Although my attorney is not handling this part, they indicated that I would indicate the follow to join option on the 160. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will
  15. Hello we were approved on Sept 4th. I plan on calling the NVC on the 18th to get our case number. My question is: Can we go ahead and fill out the DS-160 and schedule the medical before we receive the packet from the London Embassy? If so, I know you can fill out the DS-160 online but how do you schedule the medical? We are on a time crunch. Thank you.
  16. I went through the process almost a decade ago and it was different then. I have logged back in as I now have a sister--in-law who has a guy. They have received the NVC notice to start the DS-160 process. I was curious as to the timeline from submitting the DS-160 until the Interview date but I don't see that in the timelines. What am I missing?

    DS-160 help!

Hi, hoping someone can help me. My Fiancé and i are still waiting for our NVC number to book his medical. Ive read that we should have the DS-160 ready. But i also i have heard that u shouldn't submit it until ur get ur nvc number and schedule an interview. Im super confused. Could someone please clarify?
  18. Hey everyone, So we just registered to get our interview and we are still waiting. Does anyone know how long the Johannesburg consulate takes to get the interview ball rolling?? Right now it states there are "No available appointments". Our email letter from the consulate on next steps for K-1 visa/instructions was sent on May 10th. Then it says something about 1-4 weeks to schedule interview from the date the NVC receives package from consulate, is this said "package" the DS-160 form?? I am totally lost on that bit. I am in hypervigilant mode and don't want to miss a thing! Thanks everyone for ANY help on these issues. Best, Megan
  19. While filling out the DS-160, we came across a question asking to provide a police clearance for any countries that you have resided in for six or more months other than you home country from the age of 16 and older. My Fiancée 5 years ago had a student visa in Australia and she had stayed there for about a year and a half then went back to the Philippines after completing her degree. Is a police clearance need for a person who stayed in a country for more then six month, but under a student visa? I would think she does not need one because she is not a permanent resident and was only there under a student visa to finish her studies. Could someone advise as we are confused if she still needs one. At the k-1 Interview will they require the police clearance from Australia from her?
  20. Hello! So a little backstory to show where we are at.. My Fiance, Katie (beneficiary) and myself (petitioner) submitted the I-129F in early December 2017 and received the electronic notice a few short days later along with NOA1. In the meantime we collected required documentation for her Visa Interview (Affidavit of support and supporting documents, photos, copies of her birth certificate, passport etc) On June 8th 2018 our application was officially approved! She then completed her DS-160 online and finished gathering required documents for her interview via http://www.ustraveldocs.com/au/au-niv-appointmentschedule.asp and https://au.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/81/K-Required-Documents.pdf She also managed to schedule her medical exam with an embassy approved physician scheduled for July 6th. They said they will hold her results until a case number was submitted (which now that we have a case number we can forward that to them) After two weeks I contacted the NVC to check if they had received my application to no avail. One week later (today) I called and they supplied me with my case and invoice number! Now another hurdle.. Now that we have the case number and invoice number we want to get ahead. Now I KNOW they send the application to the embassy in Sydney and send out a packet to my fiance and myself with specific instructions on what to do next but it seems like we are at a small road block. I've skimmed through all the forums, FAQs and it seems like I'm the only one at this point with this situation and no one has definitive answers. So in summary this is what is going on and what we want to do. WHAT IS GOING ON: fiance has filled, submitted and printed confirmation page of DS-160 fiance has scheduled medical exam with approved physician fiance has gathered all documentation required for Visa Interview NVC has supplied us with case number and invoice number but is showing as "at NVC" when searching for case status WHAT WE WANT TO DO/QUESTIONS WANT: Instead of waiting for Packets in the mail via NVC we would like to get a jump start Q: Do we need to submit a (Select address and agent) DS-261/DS-260? If so why cant I access that when log in to ceac.state.gov ? Only tells me that a DS-160 must be completed, but she already submitted that? WANT: Submit payment for MRV Fee WANT: Submit documents to NVC To say the least we are a bit lost on what to expect from this portion since this forum is not very specific on where we need to go (links, websites), what steps to take (DS-160>DS-261>MRV Payment>submit NVC docs>make appointment etc) during this part of the process and what we need to complete this without having to wait for a packet for WEEKS. Really hoping ANYONE can lead us in the right direction. Seems like when I read about visa applications once it gets to DS-160 part it seems to magically fast forward to interview date with no details in between. I NEED THOSE DETAILS! Thank you!!
  21. Hello my fellow K-1 applicants, If this question has been asked before for a similar situation, please direct me to that thread. I received my NOA2 on 2/6/2018 and after I called NVC on 2/20/2018, they provided me with my case# and invoice#. So I have been checking the status on https://ceac.state.gov under the visa application type "Immigrant Visa (IV)". I do know that a K-1 visa is nonimmigrant visa but processed as an immigrant visa (at least at the NVC) because it has the intent to immigrate if the both parties decide to get married within 90 days of entering the US. The first time checked on the status of my case, I saw the message "at NVC". But today, when I check it I see the following: I could be wrong but I don't think any of this applies to a K-1 visa. The country specific document does not talk about a form DS-260 but a DS-160. If you visit the US embassy in Sri Lanka website you cannot find a mention of a Fiancee visa under "Nonimmigrant Visas" section but you can find a section for "Fiancee Visa" under the "Immigrant Visas" section: If you click on the "Fiancee Visa" you are taken to another location that has the following: If you click "Next" and look at "The Interview" section. There a PDF with instructions for Fiancee visa applicants. From what I can tell this looks like what the packet my Fiancee will get once the embassy receives my petition from NVC. Even on this document, it talks about filling out the DS-160 form and not the DS-260. So, here is what I like to know from anyone who has gone through the K-1 visa process or more specifically the K-1 visa process through the US embassy in Sri Lanka: 1. What do I make of the message I received from NVC when I checked the status of my case today? Do I ignore it? 2. Can I go ahead and follow the instructions outlined in the PDF that instructs the K-1 Fiancee visa applicants about what needs to be done next? Or should I just wait for the embassy to contact my Fiancee? If I am not clear with any of my questions or information that has been provided, please let me know. Thank you all for your help and support.
  22. What goes in as the National ID number on the DS-160 for Russians? My fiance is attempting to fill out the DS-160 and doesn't know what to put as his National ID number. I'm assuming it's his Russian passport number but he wants to be sure. I didn't realize that Russians have two passports! The national passport and the international one, which I just learned he doesn't yet have. Another thing to get done asap. Hopefully, I'm writing this in the correct portal. Thanks!
  23. So, my fiance and I are preparing for the interview. Collecting all the papers, we noticed that my fiance's birthplace,as specified in the i-129f form, is incorrect and the petition is already at the embassy in manila. We haven't finished the DS-160 form yet. What should we do? Will this ruin us?
  24. My i-129f was approved April 2nd. The NVC received the case a couple weeks after. I called the NVC to see if we had a case number, we did. It was established on April 19th. Today, they have still not sent our information to the consulate in Rio. My fiance is getting all worked up over this because other Brazilian women have done the same thing that I have done and their file got sent immediately after (or close to the date). I can't really do anything at this point because on the approved i-797 form it specifically says to wait 30 days before contacting them...it's been 12 days. If they already have a case number ready, why will they not send the file? Is anyone else having similar problems? Any words help at this point.
  25. Hi all, Just filling in the DS-160 for the K1 fiancee visa. Need some help on the following questions: 1) Where was the passport issued? city? I have a uk passport and unsure what to write - United Kingdom or london? 2) Employment/ work under primary occupation - I stopped working back in June 2017 due to visiting fiance in USA. From March 2018, I have using my teaching skills to deliver some private tutoring sessions within family and friends circle group. Would I select the option 'unemployed' as stating the option 'other' will ask me to fill in present employer and monthly income. 4) Have you belong to, contributed to or work for any professional social or charitable organistaion? Does this include being part of the teachers union when I was teaching from September 2012 - June 2017 Many thanks for your time and help
