Long as you do everything legally, you should be fine.

 

Maybe some extra checks done but the process should be the same as before.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

Sure...why not? Trump? No changes are stated for legal immigration to the US from Mexico. Relations might be a little rocky right now and in the future, but that shouldn't impact your petition.

It's up to you and where you want to live. For me it took 10 months to get my GC, however it is a difficult process and it takes money. It is possible though. So if you both want to live in Mexico, go for it. If not, then start the process.

I have this friend who is in law school in NYC and he keeps messaging me stating that my fiancé "will not get a marriage visa" and that it's essentially a lost cause... it just freaks me out a lot.... idk who to believe

.... I'm in Mexico right now and we were going to have an engagement party this weekend but now idk if it's even appropriate to have it anymore due to the whole trump thing. I'm extremely upset and discouraged and idk where my life is heading now....

Well, his "sources" have no clue what they're talking about. It's conjecture as best, outright deliberately misleading at worst.

So I just spoke to him and asked him to clarify because I'm freaking out, and he stated the "sources"  he was referencing was his law professor going on a tangent about what trump "may do". ? 

 

He then called his his father who is a seasoned NYC immigration attorney and his father stated exactly what y'all said.... 

 

Sorry to clog up the board with my hysteria but I'm deeply in love and Trump hasn't exactly put me at ease considering I'm planning to petition for a Mexican fiancé... 

 

yall know more than a NYC law student lol. Idk why he tries to scare me ?? he's done it since trump got elected. Oh well, moving on now
