You going to send the MDL into full blown DDS

I think most here would agree the comments were silly. You're going to boycott a company keeping jobs in the US via negotiations with the president elect because you don't like him/her personally? umm alrighty then.

I bet if you were one of the 1000 you would think it was important

of course, but imo carrier is just putting off the move they will eventually make anyway. to me it seems they're taking this opportunity to do some public relations damage control..and avoiding the inevitable.

when you look at how many manufacturing jobs have been lost and aren't coming back, 1000 jobs is quite certainly a drop in the bucket.

yeah, the only way to boycott "trump" is to boycott his brand.

No matter what he does, BHLs will never come around. He saves 1000 jobs, but they bring up the other 1000, even though we don't know that any jobs are leaving. They just assume it because it helps their "argument".

BHLs = butt hurt liberals

What's funny is that I consider myself a more liberal than conservative for the most part, I voted for Bill Clinton and Obama in the first election. But I'm sick of the Democrats and Trump makes sense right now. We need change.

last i read, we do know 1000 jobs are leaving simply because the original number was 2000. the announcement i read yesterday didn't give the figure of 1000 but instead said a 'percentage' of the jobs would remain in the us. i don't have an 'argument', i just don't get excited over obvious spin and bs on a fancy platter.

Here's the problem I see. This deal is all about incentives. Little breaks and corporate welfare to essentially bribe a company to remain in the US. Looks good on paper, but is it sustainable? Is this actually taking a free market approach? Or is it just plugging a leak while waiting for a new one to open. And how many exactly will be bribed in this manner? Who determines what's most important to bribe and keep afloat?

The same thing is going on in the UK now. Companies are threatening to leave, big ones. Because the manufacturing industry is nearly non-existent there. One plant nearly employs an entire town and wanted to pull out. The government bribed them with all sorts of things to stay. When other plants learned of this information they wanted to know when things were going to be sweetened for them and why weren't they getting special treatment?

Carrier will for sure cut some jobs in this. Even local papers are reporting that. And beyond that other smaller but still valuable companies that are bleeding, will wonder what about us? http://www.indystar.com/story/money/2016/11/29/reports-trump-announce-deal-keep-carrier-jobs--state/94637112/
