I can't think of a reason why either of us would need the other's password, aside from accounts that are explicitly joint, like a bank account. The whole idea with Facebook is one person = one account, so it doesn't make any sense having multiple people with access to the same account. I have nothing to hide and he doesn't, either, but privacy and healthy boundaries are important even in a close relationship, and passwords fall into this area I think. Once we're in the same place, I could see keeping our passwords recorded in a safe, secure place in case anything ever happens to either of us, but other than that? Nope.

Edit: I actually do know the passwords to several of his accounts, now that I think about it! But only because I helped him set them up when he got a new computer. I used the same cheesy, easy-to-remember password for all of them, and advised him to change it once he got the computer. I don't think he's actually using any of the accounts, and I haven't checked to see if the passwords have changed, but just for full disclosure and all.

Facebook? I set it up for him, and added his first 20 friends or so... I had this crazy idea us being in a relationship on FB would help his visa. Also I added friends to his account so I could secretly stalk their drama LOL (that's what FB is for, right?). Now he has totally taken over his account (an iphone will do that to you I guess!)

email? I have that too, because he forgets it. he's like an old man.

It's not really an 'identity' thing for us, it's an account, on the internet, where there are photos and messages.

But I would never do a MrMrsAmyAndJorge account, that's tacky.

I guess if you met on the internet that would be trickier, you have probably messaged/photo lots of potential mates.

I never asked, he never asked. I gave them to him and he gave to me (just randomly after a conversation thanks to a post similar to this). I don't think he remembers mine but I do remember his 'cause his are so easy. I access his FB every now and then (he hate's FB but it helps keep in touch with some of his friends) to check on his family members that I'm not "friends" with (he is fully aware of this and doesn't care 'cause I think I pay more attention to their updates than he does).

It's totally about trust. If he walked up to me right now and said "I wanna see what you're writing" I have nothing to hide. If he wanted any of my passwords I wouldn't care. I have nothing to hide and he knows that and that's why he doesn't ask 'cause he knows that if he asked I'd have no issue doing it so he know's he can trust me and vice versa.

No, never asked, never got asked. But both of us have laptops that are always logged in to our FB and other social sites, so it would be an easy thing for us to start up and look at the other's sites when they are not home if we were so inclined.

my husband and I share the same password. when we got together we decided on one password. so if he feels he needs to check my facebook or twitter he can or if he wants to update the cc on amazon he can. we have the same password. i never asked him for his but he gave this idea and i didnt mind and its okay i guess doesnt bother me because i have nothing to hide.
