USC - What English Word does your SO mispronounce most often?

If you got married it shouldn't be a big issue,

but these words keep coming back again & again.

We shouldn't laugh too much about that because their English

is almost always better than our ability in their language.

It may not be a word, but could be a misused idiom, phrase or expression.

"noo-don" instead of "noodle"

Joseph has this issue with an east coast state. It comes out as west ####### . I bet you all want to move there .

My Italian-heritaged USC wife, and her whole family act like I'm running nails down a chalkboard when I pronounce pasta "pah stah" (duplicating the vowel sound ) instead of the apparently correct way (which I have never head ANYBODY in Western Canada say): "paw stah" (with the "aw" pronounced like the o in "object"). It's kinda funny. :)

Having lived in Calgary for a shade under half my life, I have never heard even Italians (one of our neighbours was an Italian IMMIGRANT, can't remember if that family was naturalised by the time they became our neighbours) pronounce it as "paw stah".

Ahhhh I have this problem also. I hate when my husband says "paw-stah", it sounds all formal and posh and sticks out in the middle of a normal sentence. It's "pah-sta". :yes:

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

The USC mispronounces more than I do, I'm the one with English as the first language.

The one that sticks out the most is "phone". He always adds a "d" at the end (I'm not sure if this is unintentional or not) so it sounds like "phoned".

He also pronounces bagel like bagoh, it's weird. He thinks he's pronouncing it right too, it's funny :lol:
