What? That doesn’t even make any sense.

When they ask if you know someone in the US they are referring to a relative, friend, or significant other that can help them immigrate to the US.

Justin Bieber and Celine Dion are NOT going to provide you with room and board and help get you a job and possibly a green card just because you know their name and music. You don’t know them personally. So your example is horrible.

As for the being too married part, don’t blame USCIS. People abuse the system so they take precautions. There is a thread going on this very minute of a man who is married who tried to use a K1 visa to bring over his wife.

It’s like you putting the blame on a bank for having to lock your money in a safe place.

Families are not split up by nonVWP countries. The decision to immigrate is based solely on immigrants. Countries are not forcing people to leave their families and move to another country.

If they pick a place where it may be difficult for family and friends to visit, that is all on them.

"Read carefully, interpret literally, then answer accurately." has never been more appropriate advice.  Not a lot of thinking going on between those ears.  Did the OP really think married people aren't married anymore if they move to a new country?  The OP had to sign sworn statements before a US Consular Officer to get his  “Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage”.  Did he REALLY that meant nothing?

A material misrepresentation was committed more than once by him and at least once in writing and once verbally under oath by her during the interview.  Maybe plan on moving to the Philippines.

olle reacted to pushbrk in Any thoughts on interviewing/process in country vs. the states?
To be clear, NOTHING on the State Department's website would have mentioned a "visa interview" inside the USA.  This is because "visas" are issued to enter countries, so are ALWAYS issued at US Consulates.  There are no US Consulates or Embassies IN the USA.  When adjusting status from within the USA, the State Department is not involved in any way.

It’s actually 12 months for “other countries” (just country of nationality or current country of residence are 6 months).

houda19, “I heard...” or “I read”.... is a very bad way to go about figuring out what you need for an immigration application unless you were reading the official website. Official information is easily available online.

Personally I think the CR-1 is better for many reasons however I would strongly recommend that you have a few more visits after this one before getting married. Get to know each other better - not just to give your visa application a better chance but for your own sake too.

Rule #1: Never purchase tickets until after you have the visa in hand. Many times we have seen people try this thinking it will help. What is the officer going to say? "Sir, you don't qualify for a visa but since you already bought tickets I will give it to you anyway."

Just have your evidence from your school, travel history if you have a good one, if you own property provide proof of that, and your financials.

It’s not about being “in a good mood”. It’s about how the CBP officer judges your intention on entry. There is necessarily some element of subjectivity in using human judgement on issues.

There is an “actual law” - it’s that you are treated as an intending immigrant unless you can convince the officer otherwise. What you need to convince them varies by individual and by officer. Past histories obviously are taken into account, and your will probably mean you have more convincing to do. Sounds like you have a good amount to show this time.

Why is it a bad idea? In most other countries 21 is not a child, 18 isn't even a child. Why shouldn't grown up people be left to establish/continue to live their own lives where they are instead of piggybacking on a relatives change of circumstance?

If the Canadian goverment learns of her US residency, which they will as the US and Canada share border information, she will be required to repay any Canadian benefits she uses including CCTB, gst cheques, health care costs, etc.
Regardless of what others may have said in other forums or even this one, the Canadian and US governments have made it clear; to be a resident of a province of Canada you must  reside there for x number of days per year (varies by province), and to be a US LPR your primary residence and domicile must be the USA.  You cannot have both.  Even those with a re-entry permit must keep their ability to be domiciled in the USA.

Again I suggest putting off the interview for a time and also using the entire expiration period on the visa until you guys are actually ready for the move.

Generally Montreal will let a CR1 reschedule by missing their interview and then rescheduling online like a K1 would.

    Three things...

First, you ARE getting help and useful advice. Before posting here you thought an invitation letter would help your chances of your mother and sister's approval. Also, you thought the ties that you want them claim are not as strong as you thought they would be.

Second, I was never disrespectful to you in my postings. In fact, didn't see any disrespect from other posters either.

Third, it is actually against this sites terms to tell others not to post.

It is not easy for someone from Morocco, that doesn't have strong ties, to get a visitor visa. Your mother and sister may actually get denied. Which is why I say as of now, the easiest solution is for you to visit them.

No, he is not rude.  “Hijacking” is the term used when someone comes onto an existing thread and posts their own question, thus derailing it from the person who started it. In some forums it’s ok to extend a thread with similar questions, but on Visajourney you are required to start your own if you have your own question rather than commenting on the existing question/conversation.

You will not be dealing with USCIS for any of the remaining part of the visa process.  They don't issue visas.  As for evidence to have ready for the interview (Dept. of State) with a Consular Officer, there is no reason to bring anything either of you isn't fully comfortable having a stranger see.  Most likely, nothing in the way of evidence will be asked for at all.  Maybe they'll want to see some photos of the two of you together.  There's seldom a question of bona fides in London unless something is really a big red flag.

Please be advised that telling other posters not to post or comment is against the TOS of Visajourney.

If you post on a public forum, be prepared for all opinions, including those that you don't like. Does your friend know that you are publicly posting about her private life?

It sounds like she would be better off going home. After all, she left everything there and has her support network. So she has plenty to return to. Good luck to her.

    There's 3 (most likely?) possibilities:
No changes or the F4 category remains: The sooner you file, the shorter the wait will be. F4 category is removed but existing petitions are grandfathered: The sooner you file, the shorter the wait will be. F4 category is removed and all existing petitions are no longer eligible for a visa: You lost out on $535 * 3 in fees. Only you can determine if the $535 * 3 in fees is worth losing given your financial circumstances. But assuming it's not back-breaking to your financial situation, there's nothing else to lose.
