A city council member in the Chicago suburb of Naperville proposed that local families who want to volunteer to house migrants should put their names on a sign-up sheet. “I think we live in a compassionate community,” Naperville Council member Josh McBroom said at a city council meeting on 16 January, before recommending that his staff “create a sign-up sheet for individuals that would be willing to house migrant families”. “We hear from people that we should do more,” Mr McBroom said. “We do have a very affluent community, a lot of big homes.” Although the city council member said that he doesn’t support using taxpayer money to fund migrant aid, he sought volunteers to house migrants. “If there are people who can do that, God bless them,” he said. The Naperville City Council spokesperson Linda LaCloche told The Independent that staff were asked to “prepare a future agenda item so Council may consider whether to create a sign-up opportunity for residents to volunteer to host migrants.” But the date of when that initiative will be discussed has not yet been determined. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/chicago-migration-asylum-seekers-house-b2483420.html

Any information on a potential Visa?
Boiler replied to Tombat19's topic in Student & Exchange Visitor Visas
Has not been back for nearly 2 days so I can only assume bad news. -
The issue here is the VWP: Travelers who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), certain serious communicable illnesses, those who have been refused admission into, or have been deported from, the United States, or have previously overstayed on the VWP are not eligible to travel visa free under the Visa Waiver Program https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-waiver-program/non-immigrant-visa-waiver-program-vwp/

The wicked witch of the wig - Joy Reid
Boiler posted a topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice joins Joy Reid on Moms for Liberty seeking influence over public school library content and more. "We're talking about a public school library,” Justice tells Joy of what many call the resultant, de facto book bans. “Children don't have unfettered access to the internet at school." https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/watch/moms-for-liberty-co-founder-tiffany-justice-questioned-on-de-facto-book-bans-goaded-by-group-202537541836 This interview has been covered elsewhere but for some reason MSNBC decided to put the original on their site. -
The situation is what it is, there were options but we are where we are. Being realistic your Husband visiting you sounds much more practical and realistic. Did he file an I 824? When did he file the I 130? You could apply for a B, what is your situation, job etc, going to be a big ask.

I got my SSN in a week, anyway CR1 is the way to go. All the times mentioned are looking backwards and you want to know how long your case will be and none can do that. My guess would be 18 months CR1 or K1. All I do know is that the sooner you file the sooner it will happen.

Step 3 Schedule an appointment online for the earliest available date. Please note that you must schedule an appointment before you can request an expedited date. At the time you schedule your appointment, you will see an onscreen message showing the earliest available appointment date, which includes emergency appointments. Accordingly, you may find that it is not necessary to request an emergency appointment because there are no earlier dates available. If you wish to proceed with requesting an emergency appointment, then complete the Emergency Request Form or contact the call center to request assistance. Please be sure to note the type of emergency you believe qualifies you for an emergency appointment. Once you have submitted your request, please wait for a response from the Embassy, which will come via email. Step 4 If the Embassy approves your request then you will receive an email alerting you to schedule your emergency appointment online. Please understand that the call center cannot schedule your emergency appointment for you, but agents are able to assist you if questions arise. Should the Embassy deny your request for an emergency appointment, you will be notified of the denial by email and you should keep your existing appointment. Note: The email confirming or denying your request will come from no-reply@ustraveldocs.com. Some email applications have rules which filter unknown senders into a spam or junk mail folder. If you have not received your email notification, please look for the message in your junk and spam email folders.

https://nypost.com/2024/01/22/news/tammy-nobles-files-100-million-lawsuit-against-dhs/?utm_source=reddit.com A heartbroken mother whose daughter was allegedly raped and murdered by a teenage MS-13 gang member from El Salvador has filed a lawsuit against the federal government for playing “Russian roulette with our lives,” accusing agents of failing to stop the suspect at the border. Tammy Nobles, the mother of 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton, argues in her $100 million lawsuit that both the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services failed her daughter by allowing the unidentified migrant into the country without confirming his identity. Nobles and another grieving mother testified on Thursday in front of the House panel conducting an impeachment inquiry into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, whom they accuse of not enforcing federal immigration laws. “For me, this not a political issue, this a safety issue for everyone living in the United States,” she told the House Homeland Security Committee.

I have not advised anything. If you enter on a F2 you will have F2 status. If you want to have E2 status you need to enter on an E2 visa.

Difference in USCIS processing times at different centers
Boiler replied to usaman1999's topic in USCIS Service Centers
It has been this way for a few years. Anything and everything can change. -
This was the question, I would expect his F2 is still valid and he could reenter probably on F2 but not E2.
