  1. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/nov/26/remember-who-we-are-riots-race-and-the-end-of-the-irish-welcome “It’s sad it’s come to this,” said one man, a soft-spoken spectator in his 20s, not a rioter. “But the situation has got out of control.” He was referring not to the riot consuming central Dublin on Thursday night but to immigration, and a perception that foreigners – and especially asylum seekers – were driving a crime wave and worsening a housing crisis. “Their religion has no respect for women’s rights,” he added. “The men are dominant.” The police charged and the spectator fled, unable to elaborate about any affinity with Dutch voters who last week backed Geert Wilders’s anti-Islamic Freedom party, or with other election results across Europe, but there was little need. Amid the fumes and shouts and sirens blazed an uncomfortable truth. The Ireland that for so long had seemed to buck Europe’s anti-immigrant trend and offer a “thousand welcomes” to the foreigners who reshaped its economy, society and demography – the Ireland that seemed immune to xenophobia and demagoguery and backlash – was not so different after all.
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/24/us/politics/china-migrants-us-border.html?login=smartlock&auth=login-smartlock Despite the distances involved and the difficulties of the journey, more than 24,000 Chinese citizens have been apprehended crossing into the United States from Mexico in the past year. That is more than in the preceding 10 years combined, according to government data. They typically fly into Ecuador, where they do not need a visa. Then, like hundreds of thousands of other migrants from Central and South America and more distant locations, they pay smugglers to guide their travel through the dangerous jungle between Colombia and Panama en route to the United States. Once there, they turn themselves in to border officials and many seek asylum. And most succeed, in turn fueling further attempts. Chinese citizens are more successful than people from other countries with their asylum claims in immigration court. And those who are not end up staying anyway because China usually will not take them back.
  3. Looks like New York is in for significant budget cuts, at least it is for a cause they demanded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od6pO2oe1l4
  4. Unless there is something truly weird these are usually pretty simple, there is not a lot to go through, not like proving up a marriage for example, you are the child, you have a spouse, I 864 is good not much else to say.
  5. You can file as soon as you enter the US with your immigrant visa. I see no harm in mentioning it at the interview if you want to.
  6. I assume there is nobody else to file anything for her and she is reliant on you obtaining US Permanent Residency. What do you mean by highlight her position? She either is or is not protected by CSPA and from what you said she is not.
  7. F3 means you are married so when you enter with your Immigrant Visa either you or your spouse, ideally both can file a I 130 to petition her to join you in the US, she will be in the F2b category, single adult child of a Permanent Resident.
  8. If you re happy to take the risk I am not going to second guess the situation, you seem to know the potential issue.
  9. It is really a question of how risk averse you are, most people will go the marriage route.
  10. You want to adjust status in the US, then you can file an I 485 once your PD for adjustment is current.
  11. Which Consulate did you originally specify, how does Bangkok come into this?
  12. It is difficult to believe the Architect involved will not feature in the New Year Honours List. Meanwhile in NY I see Adams is in trouble, what did he expect going against the DNC, he must know the play book.
  13. You did not read the replies?, as has been said he has a long wait before anything else happens after you file the I 130..
  14. You can look for cancellations.
  15. OK this is a UK one but very amusing. It sort of looks like a repurposed bus shelter and the sign... Just imagine what you could do with a felt tip.
  16. I have not seen a K3 in years but seem to recollect it is multi entry? for 2 years, not going to bother looking it up as it is all moot.
  17. Sounds like you are just in the queue, waiting.
  18. Just your time, of you have a valid reason you can apply for an expedite.
  19. Less than 10 K3s are issued every year and you would not want to be one of those anyway.
  20. My guess is that you are probably looking at around 2040 for F1 India to be current, obviously the sooner you file the better. If he marries he moves to F3 which will be longer.
  21. She can marry after her mother naturalises and the petition would still be valid. 8 years is extremely optimistic, I would double it.
