MillerTime got a reaction from Helen Quail in What’s the last online status you will ever see from USCIS?
Mine has that "Certificate Of Naturalization Was Issued" case status but it also has a little notation at the top that says "Case Closed." Seeing that Case Closed is very rewarding lol. Congrats on naturalizing! It's the best! 😀

MillerTime got a reaction from yutekao in Anyone waiting in Charleston USCIS Office? Filed in May of 2019 and still waiting.
Like what others are saying, I would file the N-400 if your wife is eligible. I was in the same boat, as you. Filed my I-751 back in June 2019. Heard nothing about an interview and knew my file was collecting dust somewhere. Filed my N-400 on October 2020 and have now been naturalized. I-751s, for the most part, tend to be on the lower end of their priorities. Filing the N-400 can hopefully move along your I-751 finally. Good luck!

MillerTime reacted to milimelo in Spouses filing N400 together - paper or online?
I'd do online as it doesn't matter when each of you get processed - you're independent of each other. You can flag it at interview your spouse is also naturalizing to slot you together for oath ceremony but I wouldn't be expecting you'll be slotted jointly for interview.

MillerTime got a reaction from OldUser in Crossing the US-Mexico border with Naturalization Certificate?
From the actual CBP website https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-3618?language=en_US
Land or Sea Travel: U.S. citizens entering the United States by land or sea are required to present a valid WHTI-compliant document, which include:
- U.S. Passports
- U.S. Passport Cards
- Enhanced Driver's Licenses
- Enhanced Tribal Card (ETC)
- Trusted Traveler Cards (Global Entry*, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST
- Military Identification Cards (for members of the U.S. armed official maritime business)
* The Global Entry (GE) card is only an ENTRY document and may not be used to enter Canada, Mexico or Adjacent Island.
It does say that U.S. citizen children ages 15 and under can enter back into the U.S. with their naturalization certificate but not anywhere does it say that adults can.
Personally, I wouldn't risk it but to each their own. Be prepared for a very hard time with CBP. They don't play around lol. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Thanks, everyone! Words cannot express how much I appreciate each one of you.
My wife and I now say a "fond" farewell to USCIS....LOL!!
I have deleted all my visa related emails from April 2016 to present.
I have deleted all my I-751 and N-400 files!! USCIS no longer controls our lives!!!!

MillerTime reacted to Scandi in N400 based on three years- looking for feedback!
Many wouldn't recommend it, me included. The online system is glitchy with the time stamps, so it's better to wait a day or two after your window opens up. What you see is an example of that time glitch. Other people have been able to submit their applications on the exact day, but their receipts had an earlier date on them which complicated things. There was even a VJ member who ended up getting denied at his interview for filing too early (he filed the same day he became eligible), he had to go through many hoops to get it corrected and was in the end approved.
Better to wait a day or two to avoid unnecessary issues. Those extra days won't affect your case negatively.

MillerTime reacted to KevY56 in Do I really need a lawyer for N-400
While for most people the answer is no, for you it is absolutely yes.
A DUI is a very serious offense, and you need legal consultation and representation. This is not a DIY.

MillerTime got a reaction from OldUser in 10 year green card
I filed for my I-751 June 2019
Filed my N-400 October 2020.
Had a combo interview October 2022
Had my oath ceremony a little less than 2 weeks after my interview
It's still taking quite a while for the majority. People who get their I-751 approved after 3-4 months are definitely the minority and weirdly lucky lol.

MillerTime reacted to top_secret in 10 year green card
In accordance with strict USCIS protocols the processing times will be wildly randomized for different applicants without any rhyme or reason.

2. It should be "YES". He was confined to a mental institution, even though voluntarily and for short period of time.

Ensure to send the new evidence though!
You do not need a lawyer for simple I-751.

MillerTime reacted to Rearviewmirror in Filing for I-751. Lawyer needed?
Hey Lilly.
We were in a similar spot to you and decided to self-file. We had our entire package from our first AOS that we did through a good (but also pricey) lawyer. As Andy says, a lot of it is repeat information, and so if you have that digitally stored from AOS you're already some portion of the way there.
The main additional pieces we added were more joint tax transcripts, bank statements, and then beneficiary/insurance info.
The one change I made for self filing was to tilt pretty conservative on the amount of info we provided - i.e. some folks only provide evidence since they received their green card, but we decided to do the entirety of the marriage (which is what the instructions specify.
If you're prepared to do some research, focus on details, and ask questions here, there is nothing to prevent you successfully filing without a lawyer.
Best of luck!

MillerTime got a reaction from OldUser in Pending I-751 and Passed by N-400 Interview - No Updates Still
Did you bring your spouse with you to the FO? Knowing that you had a pending I-751 I hope your spouse was there. Then the IO could have done a combo interview with you both since he had your I-751 file on hand. In my case, I had just my N-400 interview scheduled but nothing was mentioned about my pending I-751. I still brought my spouse with me anyways since I knew I had a pending I-751 on file. Had a combo interview with my husband and was approved for both on the spot.
If you did bring your spouse, perhaps the IO had a busy interviewing schedule that day and couldn't fit in your i-751 interview. Hopefully you aren't called in for a separate I-751 interview with your spouse and that the evidence you provided was sufficient enough so that the interview can be waived. Fingers crossed that your case hasn't fallen through the cracks! Good luck! I hope you hear back soon!

MillerTime reacted to Dashinka in After I-751 interview
ROC is simply a pain. At this point, I would wait, then if you don’t hear anything within 30 days of your extension letter expiring and you have the need of an ADIT stamp to show your LPR status (changing jobs, traveling internationally, etc.), you can attempt to get one.
Beyond that, as with most things with USCIS, patience is a virtue.
Good Luck!

MillerTime reacted to mindthegap in I-9 and conditional permanent resident status extension
Frustrating.
Just print off/email the relevant page, highlight the bit that says it's illegal, highlight the bit that says severe penalties for employers for breach of this, and say no more.
No need to invite further confrontation or escalate it, and it isn't your job to teach them how to do their job.

MillerTime got a reaction from Adventine in Should I mention having second wedding when removing conditions?
My husband and I got married at city hall with just my grandma present and had our bigger wedding celebration a year later. I included both pictures from our city hall wedding and big wedding celebration when I filed my I-751.
Fast forward to my combo interview which was on October 2022, the IO who interviewed me and my husband asked me when our wedding was and of course I said our city hall wedding date. I didn't do this mistake but make sure you don't confuse the two dates! Afterwards, the IO was asking us about trips we took together and my husband mentioned that one of the trips we took was for our "big wedding" (since our big wedding celebration was an out-of-town wedding) and the IO just smiled. Didn't ask any follow up questions about it. I was approved on the spot for my I-751 and N-400! You'll be fine but like what others have previously mentioned, don't use the term "remarried". Good luck on your journey!

File under 5 yr. It skips all the “proof of ongoing marriage” nonsense which we resented because we had been married almost 15 years and had to cobble up 3 years of records.
