  1. You posted in the spousal visa forum. I think that’s why it was confusing since for a spousal visa you have to be married and not single. Are you going through fiancé visa?
  2. You will have to reapply for a B1/B2 visa with the new passport.
  3. The passports are from different countries?
  4. *** Topic moved from DCF to CR1/IR1 forum *** I believe Montreal is the only one that processes immigrant visas.
  5. *** Topic moved from Progress Reports to US consulate & embassy discussion *** Some have reported positive results after emailing the consulate and letting them know they have been unable to book an appointment for a while. NOA2 is usually extended automatically especially when the delay in not your fault. You can also email the consulate to inform them you’re still interested in the process and would like an extension.
  6. *** Topic moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures ***

  11. Alright folks, looks like I’m back in the November filers group. I thought USCIS will take longer with NOA1 post thanksgiving but I was wrong. 11/30: delivered to Elgin lockbox 12/4: got a text with a received date of Nov. 30 I had an online account from my AOS days so this case was automatically added to my account so no need for an access code. Nothing yet in the USCIS notices tab.
  12. I think I underestimated USCIS 🤭 I received a text today with the case # and the received date is November 30 so I’m technically a November filer. I’ll still be checking on this thread.
  13. There’s a lot more to the process than USCIS approving I-130. That’s just the first step. You need to do research and understand how the Visa Bulletin works because that determines when you will get a visa or adjust status.
  14. It’s taking about 20 months from DQ date to interview for Islamabad consulate. Here’s a thread for reference:
  15. You can contact Lockbox support but there are certain conditions, here’s what DHS says: https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/2022-06/Tip Sheet - When to Contact a USCIS Lockbox_0.pdf
  16. Hi, was this meant to be December 2023 K1 NOA to NVC/Embassy thread? there’s one for November already: Let Me know and I can edit the title
  17. Zombie thread closed for further comment.
  18. You can’t bypass it. Unfortunately you missed your window to apply for an SSN when you first came on a K1. Now that your I-94 is expired, you will only get an SSN once you have either an EAD or GC in hand. There is no other way to get an SSN - they will not send you a SSN while you are waiting for a GC or EAD to be adjudicated. You can only get one once they’re approved. You need the actual cards if you choose to go in person to apply for an SSN. Correct. As I mentioned, you have to have the actual green card (I-551) or an EAD card. ______ For any future K1s who come to the US, please please apply as soon you get here, like literally within a week of arriving. SSA office will not issue an SSN after day 75 of the 90 day window so it is imperative to apply for one ASAP. You don’t have to be married to apply for one.
  19. DCF, if qualified, would be the best option. However, did you already file I-130 with USCIS?
  20. It’s taking 12-14 months on average to approve I-130 petition. You’re within normal processing time
  21. I think that apples to people who DO have a criminal history but their police certificate states that they’re not wanted by any judicial authority. They want to see their court records
  22. K1 AOS applicants do not submit an I-130 unless they married after the 90 day authorized stay
  23. I guess it’s new-ish (?). They stamp it at the appointment and give the form back to you, at least that’s how it was for me
  24. That’s normal. I had to fill one out before a biometric appointment for my adjustment of status process
  25. it’s not based on where you live. USCIS has its own internal system of petition distribution to spread out the workload among the service centers and any further details are not public knowledge.
