I'm gonna go against the grain and still see no reason to F1 to study English at a private school and expensively. You can study English online.

From my experience, it's worth it at university level. I came here for university and my professors were surprised at how I knew things that weren't even taught in American High Schools yet I'd learnt all these in Kenyan high school. The only mistake I did was that I didn't know that I could just opt to take some exams and if I pass, be allowed to skip those classes and not have to sit an entire semester for them yet I could pass them in my sleep. I was just burning oxygen and looking at the ceiling in these classes. Anyways, I got to meet people in those classes and we formed a close bond till graduation as we all followed the same degree plan. So, I'll take it as a positive.

These kids will still learn American culture etc in University.

    That's my 2 cents.

DO NOT falsify information on US immigration forms.  Do you want a lifetime ban from the US?

It’s hard to tell properly at this stage, unless it’s really low vs history. You need to know the total number of selectees plus selectees per region (this info will be released as a section of an upcoming visa bulletin, probably the July but maybe the august one). Then, all the case numbers are not totally consecutive as there are “holes” - selectees who have been immediately disqualified for breaking an entry rule (example multiple entries). There are some volunteer citizens who diligently plow through the CEAC data when it’s available (from Jan each calendar year) to figure out what the holes are  as well as what the highest number per region is, and once all the info is there you can get an idea of how high a number you have, then you can make a properly educated guess.
a more rough guess is to look at past visa bulletins and see whether or not they went current for everyone by fiscal year end or whether there was still a cut off and if so what it was, but you also need to look at that in the context of selectees. And then the past couple years VB data. have been totally messed up  by covid, trump ban on DV etc.
For 80k ish selectees- generally you can say there is enough natural attrition that everyone who wants a visa will get one. For 120k ish it is less certain,

not eveyone that is chosen to apply for the visa ,  gets one

    works like this
they draw more than the 55,000 (its up to that # this year)  they draw 125,000 possible winners
1st of those to fill out and submit the Ds 260,  and have an interview with valid documents ,   get the green card

As roughly 125,000 names are drawn, with only 55,000 eligible to actually receive a green card, everyone whose name is drawn is put on a waiting list and given a number.13

If your waiting list number is high, and there are 50,000 people ahead of you who have also successfully completed their paperwork, you won’t get a chance to apply, let alone receive a green card.
  5. Thanks

Not sure what you are quoting but it’s not official. The number of people chosen changes year to year. Some years it is as low as in the 80000’s and others around 120k.

There is no huge rush for OP’s friend to submit a DS260. The first interviews are only in October and with a number around AF49k will only interview 2023 sometime. OP, suggest your friends familiarize  themselves with britsimonsays website which has lots of useful information.  Your friend will also have a website link in their selection letter, they should ensure they follow those links to see exactly what documents they will need for a possible interview.

You don’t have a single goal.

You need to rank your goals in order to make your decision.

K-1 and even CR-1 are hellish imho, imo, and IME. IR-1 is where it is at: the least amount of interaction with USCIS and no messing around with temporary documents.

Hi, as long as you checked the box on ds-260 to have it delivered to the address you provided you should have it in 2-4 weeks. If not you can contact your local ssn office.

Trying the 1-800 number can’t hurt. However as I said I personally experienced mixed fortunes when dealing with them - seems to be a lottery depending on which agent you get.

    Best of luck to you.

We entered on a sunday and were back on the Mexican beach friday.   There are people who enter just to activate the physical green card process and then return to their home country to wrap up things.

Good luck! I hope your husband gets his SSN sooner rather than later and you're able to set up his bank and credit card accounts.
Bank of America is always an option for setting up an account without a SSN (or it least it was in 2018). You (the USC) would just have to be the primary account holder.

Nothing topic related but I'm surely pissed that curfew still existed during my recent 6 weeks stay, only to be lifted 2 weeks after I left. Ooo and they caught me on the road one time after hours 🤣🤣🤣. Welcome to US. @Kenyan Couple

My employee applied for a Social Security number (SSN) but has not yet received it. What should I do?
If a newly hired employee has applied for, but has not yet received his or her SSN (e.g., the employee is a newly arrived immigrant), attach an explanation to the employee’s Form I-9 and set it aside. Then create a case in E-Verify using the employee’s SSN as soon as it is available. If you are unable to create a case by the third business day after the employee’s first day of employment, select Awaiting Social Security number when prompted by E-Verify.

That's correct.  Your first post said your family is not ready to make the move.  Please note that the foreign spouse is not allowed to enter the US ahead of the petitioner.  Petitioner must enter ahead of or at the same time as the visa holder.

This is why spousal and fiancee visas are moving forward, while it seems EB1 isn't hearing much.

The Embassy is also scheduling a limited number of Tier Three (family preference cases and visas for certain U.S. government employees abroad) and Tier Four (employment preference and diversity visas) each month. We recognize that visa applicants, particularly those in Tiers Three and Four, will face continued delays.

Since last update this has happened. We frantically started trying to get in touch with IOM for medicals. My wife ended up going there. The good thing is that they gave us the current numbers for IOM which are +254 722 1000 ext 601/ 602 / 603 / 604 / 605 and 0709890000. (Those coming after this save those numbers). Medical test and vaccinations were done on the same day (25th June) and the total costs was Ksh 35K. She paid via MPESA. Meantime we setup the courier pick up point. Surprisingly, they asked we upload the latest taxes and W2s (2020) via CEAC portal. That request was done via email.

I flew in to Nairobi on Sunday night and on the interview day, yesterday we both got there at around 6:15am. We parked out some Warwick building next to the entrance. It's a public parking paid to Kanju (Ksh 200) though the GSU will seem to look like they run the place. They never sumbuad me after the kanju lady did her rounds since now the parking was paid for. She went in at 6:45am for her 7:30am interview. She left all electronics with me and just docs needed for the interview. She got done around 11:15am. I was so excited to see her walk up to me with a huge hidden smile (mask ofcourse). I knew one part was done.

As per her the docs asked for were civil docs (Marriage, birth cert etc) and most notably the latest Police certificate of good conduct and of course the PP. They asked for the small marriage cert (The Kenyan one issued and signed by witnesses, if you did a Kenyan wedding). That was done first by some staff, then the interview followed after some long wait now with the consular officer. Questions asked were -: how we met, when she saw me last, kids and I think that was it. She was told her visa is approved handed a note to that effect on DHL courier info (pick up) and another on paying the $220 USCIS fee for the green card.

Now waiting for the status to change from "ready" to "issued" then wait for DHL. Hope above info will be helpful to those that follow

Email them Babito. The sooner the better. Attach the NVC appointment letter. Call them too and final option is to walk in if all fails. The last option doesn’t work but it won’t hurt to try.
