Nobody needs your sympathy. I fully support any immigrant who has gone through the trouble of applying for and obtaining a marriage visa following through and coming to America even if the American spouse changes their mind about coming.

Immigrants are not sacks of potatoes to be cast aside according to the whims and flakiness of the American spouse. Quitting one’s job, preparing to migrate, notifying one’s friends and family etc and then being told don’t come is not trivial.

Chiming in here even though I interviewed in India. Had the same issue - my US fiancé did the paperwork without much research and just send in the bare minimum of proof of relationship (just 2 photos of us, flight tickets and visa stamps from our passports). I took proof of relationship at my interview just like your fiancée thinking the officer will go through them. Wrong. I was treated like a criminal, my relationship was ridiculed and was handed a 221g for proof of relationship. BUT I am here in the US now going through AOS. I submitted everything they asked for in that letter and my K1 visa was issued. We had not met for for 17-18 months when I went for the interview - trust me that was not the issue. Just not front-loading was the issue. So hang in there, submit what they asked for and you'll be alright. This will delay the process but it's not insurmountable.

Mary had her interview this morning in Phoenix.  It took about five minutes after waiting about an hour.  I was outside in the car and she called me crying; I thought some disaster happened.  Took about 45 minutes then she and 5 other were naturalized.

We have a trip to London next week so the only Passport Offices with openings are Honolulu, San Juan and El Paso!  We will work on reacquiring her Filipino Citizenship when we return.

    Thanks for all the support!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you both have. I am just weeks away from having my own interview. I want to give you some ideas of the things that I've been collecting extensively to proof our relationship.
Slack or any other online chat platform - conversations on there of everyday things, pictures we share, links to locations we would both love. The key phrase here is "everyday things." They can read through it all if they want. It's sometimes very personal, sometimes funny, and even sad what we share, but it's real and there is no denying it when they read through it. History of video chats. I'm not sure if you are able to video chat with each other all the time. We do several times a day, and FaceTime (Apple) keeps a history. I take a screenshot of my call history every couple of months, which is pretty much all from the two of us, sprinkled with some calls to my parents. They can see how often we talk to each other (there is a date and time stamp) Letters, emails, and greeting cards not only between us but also between each other's parents. I think that shows the sincerity of our relationship as well.  Receipts for restaurants, museums and such - this is more for the time before, when you were still able to visit each other. Anything that shows that you were together  I hope this helps you and others. I already collected over 50 pages of this since we first applied over a year ago, and I'm still going until the day of my interview.
Best of luck, and don't give up. You both will do this!

Hey guys ! Good news to share! My status was changed to “ interview was schedule” on Nov 2. It took 54 days since Bio appointment.

i checked the website, they haven’t uploaded the letter yet so I don’t know when my interview will be. But I guess it might be in December.

Don’t lose any hope and stay patient, I believe good news will fly to you very soon.

I had paid my K1 visa fees before the pandemic and they kept extending the dates and like the post above it does keep getting extended. It was 2022 and now September 2023. If you do end up paying the fees, could you please let us know here if you can see any dates? I'm trying to know about Kolkata consulate but would be happy to know about any other consulate in India with regards to the tourist visa right now.

It has been like that for a while but if you know someone who has an unused visa fee for whatever category on their ustraveldocs, they can check and see of any actual appointments are available at any of the Consulates.

you don't want that to happen
they can assume the USC doesn't realize the customs and norms in the other country
if u get slammed with misrepresentation ,   it would prompt a bar

Misrepresentation/Fraud: If you have obtained or attempted to obtain an immigration benefit by willfully presenting fraudulent documents or false information to an immigration officer or on an immigration application, you are inadmissible. The misrepresentation/fraud inadmissibility bar is a lifetime bar.

Come on,   gf,   we all understand the disappointment and frustration plus the added expense this will cause u
just go marry the guy if you're willing to go thru another 2 years waiting

with no big age difference and same religion and marriage,  you'll be ok
just keep your spirits up after applying by not waiting day after day to hear from immigration
do the paperwork,   send it in and talk to him /  /  the process is hard on many so forget immigration BS on daily basis and keep the romance alive

    i applied 2009 for K1 and denied
i married 2010 and we finally got the visa in 2015

its hard on us but worth it in the end

Jack & Anne got a reaction from Chancy in Issues obtaining SSN after K1 visa
Unfortunately no there is nothing you can do if they come back again and are not able to verify your status. Keep an eye on the "pending status" and hopefully it will soon change to "case sent back to agency" (SAVE Case Check : Login Agreement (uscis.gov)) and then call your local office to issue your SSN. I am adjusting from K1 as well and monitored my verification status on this Save website. Had my appointment on July 28, it was "case under review" on July 28. Then "case sent back to agency" on Aug 9. I kept waiting to get my SSN and when I didn't hear from them I called my local office on Aug 18. They issued my SSN on the same day and I received the card in post on Aug 24.

Try it like many of us do
    1.  community college for 2 years with the basics in America history and government,  public speaking , communications ,  statics and data
    2.  make sure u study and work hard to get best possible grades / hopefully the Dean's List get the GPA
    3.  transfer to full term college for a BS in Political Science/ again get the best grades possible to #4 taking the LSAT to be admitted (I believe u r allowed to repeat the test
    4.  transfer to full term law university so your degree is from there

The above saves a ton of money

Perhaps the most important thing to remember when contemplating your likelihood of getting into law school is that the top two factors in your admissions decision will be your GPA and LSAT score. The GPA is the grade point average of all your undergraduate, credit-bearing college courses - including both community college and university courses. The LSAT (law school admissions test) is the law school equivalent of the standardized tests required for entrance to most professional schools, like the MCAT for medical school and PCAT for pharmacy school.

weigh into the cost of law school when u are not a resident of the state
its expensive enough without adding the our of state tuition
and even if u made the move to  become a resident of a different state , colleges don't consider u a permanent resident until u have lived there (6 months or a year-college dependent)

100% voluntary. You want to go to a school, a school that is located in another place.

There are many online JD programs in the USA.  If you do not like the in-person JD programs close to your current residence, you can choose from lots of fully-online, accredited, and ABA recognized JD programs in most US states:

    Read the following:
"(C) Involuntary separation. In the event that the applicant and spouse live apart because of circumstances beyond their control, such as military service in the Armed Forces of the United States or essential business or occupational demands, rather than because of voluntary legal or informal separation, the resulting separation, even if prolonged, will not preclude naturalization under this part."

Update: Received receipt number for form I-797! Here’s my timeline for those keeping track:

    08/09: Sent AOS package
    08/11: Delivered
08/12: SMS with receipt number (IOE)

Will we receive the other receipt numbers later? Is that normal to just receive one.
Did you receive all three receipt numbers?

Your providing an early date will not speed up your AP process. It will come when it will come. And most of file the AP anyway with the AOS package whether we actually intend to use it or not.

UPDATE: Just received NOA1 for all three forms!😁 I was confused because we received three text messages saying receipt number for form I-797 (I thought it was the I-765) but, they all had different numbers so I checked my case status and it's one for each form. It also says I should receive a hard copy in the mail soon! I can't believe how fast its moving! Good luck to everyone
