Paul&Anna got a reaction from SalishSea in Wife is CR1 and Children CR2 and adoption question
Here is my question…. Are these children now my adopted stepchildren now officially? I am the Petitioner and they are the beneficiaries. Looking this up on google says the CR2 visa is for adopted children in immigration. My wife and her two children received their Visas a few weeks ago. I had to file three petitions. Hers says CR1 and both of theirs, ages 7 and 11 say CR2. My work pays all fees for adoption of children including outside of the US. My boss just brought this to my attention. If they are I could get this money back and put it into their future savings. I could call a lawyer and ask but I did all this paperwork for all three on my own and feel lawyers try to just take our money and that would defeat the purpose.

Given those circumstances, I agree with you that it's not worth the wait when there's so much risk in delaying travel. Still, kudos to you for sharing the decision-making with your wife 👍 (Maybe I'm becoming jaded from reading too many posts on VJ of some USCs treating their spouses less like partners and more like mail-order packages 😄)

Do not list your spouse in item #3 if she is the person you are sponsoring. Do not list her more than once.

I am in Kiev with my wife. No issues using my American phone number with the app. Took the test at the airport and already received a negative result and don’t have to quarantine.

Paul&Anna reacted to jandn_ukraine in kyiv embassy open?
Had our interview today and approved! Fiancée showed up half hour early at Kyiv embassy and it was nearly empty. After being escorted in, kind woman asked for various documents and after this collection my fiancée was asked to sit and wait for interview at window.
After a short time (assuming docs were good) she was asked to come to window and a man gave interview. She was first asked what language and she chose English,, maybe it helps case?
my fiancé was asked about our meeting and where, what do I do for a living, what does my fiancé love about me and what does she dislike. My fiancé was honest and said that we needed more time to get to what could annoy her, but everything is wonderful now and we get along very well. She thinks that the way she answered was helpful because she was just answering as honest as she could and the the man said congratulations, smiled and you are approved!
My fiancé didn’t get any paperwork besides a half page of paper with approval and to wait up to 14 days for visa back (if delivered) or could pick up in 5 days.
Those that are still waiting.. remember to double, triple check paperwork, be open and forthcoming with honest answers and everything will work out.
We’re still a little in shock that we made it. Still doesn’t feel real. The waiting is over and the feeling of sometimes despair because of this extended waiting and uncertainty has been a struggle, but it was worth it. We believe that they want you to succeed in Kyiv, just do your part.

Paul&Anna got a reaction from Chancy in USCIS APPROVED! in 6 months
I want to tell my steps thus far. Thanks to this forum I filled out my paperwork correctly. I petitioned for 3. My wife and her two kids and just found out they approved the paperwork for all 3 on the same day in 6 months time. I was so worried I re wrote my paperwork for all three multiple times. And I had 1 RFE. And you wouldn’t believe for what. The US didn’t accept my Pennsylvania Birth Certificate! Apparently now birth certificates have more info on them then what my 1984 birth certificate had. So I replied with my Passport. That was in August. So then I waited. Last week I sent USCIS 2 messages asking what’s taking so long. Then days later approved! So now I guess I just wait for the NVC to contact me? Please reply if anyone knows. If I can help anyone ask me. I can help for this part as filing 3 petitions and looking over my mistakes I will share any info I know this far.
