    1. Is it possible for me to petition for my husband and he can move there, live and work by himself?

I´ve only seen interviews of cases that were expedited. The consulate says they are doing March 2020 DQ interviews, but I have not come across anyone with March 2020 DQ date here in VJ. Just expedites.

We are waiting too. We got approved last October so the best thing is tracking the cases to know if it is getting closer to us or not.

This seems like a worldwide issue. Rio de Janeiro is also not moving along at all. Just doing expedited cases. I really thought in February things would move along quicker but it does not appear that way, unfortunately.

I regularly follow the Brazil forum, and also have friends/family in Brazil.  COVID is really out of control there, and is getting worse every day, so the Rio consulate is unlikely to get back to normal visa processing for a very long time.  It's very sad to hear of so many people dying, even some family friends recently.  Good luck!

Hilde reacted to Katelyn_Wray in Case Complete (DQ) to Interview May 2021
I'm so frustrated - our embassy is doing things that make absolutely no sense, and I thought to rant here because maybe other people are seeing the same thing after cases are complete with the NVC.

The embassy has worked very little since the shutdown last March, so they have a sizeable backlog of both IR1 and K1 cases. Up until last month, it looked like they had moved slowly but equally on IR1 and K1 cases and had caught up to about March 2020 DQ/NVC CC. Then, around 3/16/21, the embassy requested EVERY SINGLE complete K1 from NVC. Like at least 4/2020 - 12/2020, and maybe even through 3/2021. They were all sent to the embassy at the same time. Considering the embassy has only worked through like 3 months of backlog total in this past year, I was surprised but happy that they finally seemed to be picking up speed.

But now after hearing from various k1s, it seems like if they weren't fast enough to pay the fees, the embassy didn't actually have enough interview slots and they weren't able to schedule. This chaos has lead to k1s who had NOA2s at the end of 2020 (11/20-12/20) already scheduled, and NOA2 from summer 2020 didn't get to schedule. It's completely unequal (possibly 6 months or more difference) for waiting time for an interview now, which is great for those that got in fast enough, but really, really awful for those that had earlier noa2 and didn't pay quickly enough.

And then there's the situation with IR1s. They did not send IR1s to the embassy like they did with k1s. This week, April 6 2020 DQ got their interview letter for mid May interview, so logically I would say the embassy is working on April 2020 DQ. But we are seeing unequal scheduling in this category as well. From credible sources, we have learned that in March a July 2020 DQ was given an interview, seemingly randomly and with no expedite. Then just today, we learned of another case with Jan 2021 DQ who got an interview letter, also without expedite.

I guess any work that the embassy is doing at this point is a step in the right direction, but this situation seems really wrong. Especially after we've all been waiting so long. I've personally been trying to make at least a semblance of a plan for helping my husband get situated once he gets to the US, and I've been using DQ as a metric to guess timeframes (since it's really the only information we have). But with the embassy scheduling so erratically, it just throws our lives further down the chaos rabbit hole.

Has anyone else seen this at their embassies? Any insight as to why they are doing things like this? Honestly, is what they're doing even legal?

Other than stalking other VJ timelines who have the same embassy and visa category as you do, there isn´t a specific place to look.
However, this news came out today - so maybe we´ll have a better idea of the backlog soon:

The Department is committed to transparently sharing the current status of our worldwide visa operations and will continue to provide regular updates. Information about the backlog in immigrant visa processing will be publicly available in the future.

i did check the non immigrant visa issuances by the bogota post. Over 300 B1/B2 visas issued in February. I just don’t understand what the heck they are doing and it’s frustrating

Does anyone know how often the embassies send out interview letters? I had read somewhere here on VJ that it´s 2x a month and I was hoping to find out if it is the same for every embassy. Thanks!

I totally agree. We didn't use Rapid Visa, we did it all ourselves and everything went smoothly. However, my husband used a very similar company for his divorce a few years back and they similarly screwed up, didn't file things, didn't file to the right place etc - and he ended up canceling and doing it himself, after months of inaction on their behalf.

Essentially, no one is going to care as much about your petition as you. No one will put in as much effort to get it right as you. So unless you have a super complex case (and in that instance, I definitely wouldn't use a company like Rapid Visa, I'd use a well recommended immigration lawyer), it's definitely preferable to use this site and do it yourself. I'm sorry you've found this out the hard way and hope it doesn't take too long to get this issue resolved.

Yes, the pandemic is ongoing.  Look at Brazil, Mexico, India, France, Germany, Italy, etc.  The US is fortunate to be a rich country which has purchased 600+ million doses for a population of 330 million.

Florida is far from back to normal.  Your COVID numbers are going up.

Vietnam has been smart.  They have no intention of reopening their borders until a significant portion of their population is vaccinated.
