It is not about who goes where, it is about the couple spending time together.

You don't need evidence that you lived together......You need evidence that you have a bona fide marriage.....a marriage of 2 people living in different countries.........You need evidence that you have spent time together (more is better) and that you have had continued communication...

It takes upto three weeks to review the docs, if NVC finds some mistake or need more documents it will Let u know. If everything is alright, then u will get case complete. For some people its taking less than 3 week, for some more. Good luck!

You can use your USCIS tracking number on their case status link to see whether it has left their facility or not. After it leaves their facility, you can then call the NVC to see if they have received the packet (once you get the dial tone menu it’s the “if we received your mail” option). It seems like it’s taking 1-6 weeks for NVC to receive the packets from USCIS and 4-8 weeks to receive a case number thereafter.

Madison S. reacted to allanr in My wife didn't pass her CR-1 interview today...
Just a word  of caution with anyone who finds themselves in this situation.

My wife worked almost every day for the last 6 weeks in preparation  for the Immigration (CR-1)  interview today in Manila.  She had volumes of neatly organized information.  She did a complete timeline of our 4+ year relationship and marriage with timestamped pictures,  along with meticulously detailing all the of the other requirements.   We thought we hit every check mark.  We  read and  re-read what we needed to bring to the interview, and thought we  had  everything nailed.  My wife is exactly the type of person who should  pass.   We are telling  the truth about everything.  We looked forward to hearing she passed and starting tomorrow, setting up all our flights, moving arrangements...etc.

When her DS-260 form was checked by the interviewer however, it showed that between  2011-2013, she worked in Malaysia as a domestic helper (14 hours a day 7 days a week for a Chinese family there..never allowed  out).  We never intended to hide this, but on the I-130 form, we only had to list her last 5 years of living addresses.  She was told she must have a Malaysian police clearance for her time in Malaysia in order to be considered for a visa.  We explained that nowhere in the instructions was this  requirement stated, just Philippines police clearance.  They said they had to have it and until my wife submitted it, she did not pass her interview.  They would not say  if once that is in place, she will have passed, but we're hoping that is the case.

The interviewer told us to go the Malaysian Embassy for this.  However, my  wife was sent to another window  that was  assigned to answer questions about this, and the woman there assured us that we didn't have to do the Malaysian Embassy, and could just request online.  We took her word for that and flew home  to Cebu.  When we got  back, we did find a link that allows for getting a Certificate of Good  Conduct...but that it takes a minimum of 1-2 months to receive it....According to my wife, while you can indeed request the report online,  you must go the Malaysian embassy to  pay for it...so once  again, we'll be back on a plane for this.    My wife has spent the last hour or so trying to  find out where it is stated in the interview instructions that she  needed a police report if she lived in another country.  While we don't doubt this is indeed a requirement. we can't find it is listed anywhere.

Now we have to head back to Manila, then hope the government of Malaysia actually will follow through with the document.   So much for our moving plans in the short term.  Mr. Murphy strikes again.

Ouch, that's an expensive mistake with all the travel you must make to obtain it.  Yes, the officer was accurate that you need this certificate.  They are required to have it, and nobody higher up will sign off on your immigrant visa without it.  Shame you weren't able to catch on to it before it was too late.  It should have been mentioned in the pre-interview checklist they email or you can print online, listed amongst other required documents like the i-864 and birth certificate.  Any country she has resided in for 1 year or longer you must obtain a police certificate for.

Keep your heads up, in a couple months they'll get that piece of paper, and will be on your way to a new life in the US, so you still have lots to look forward to!

    Finally! Something!

Called the NVC numerous times as their phone lines were too busy to put me in the hold que. Once I finally got through I was waiting for 40 minutes on hold. Was told my case was received on July 10th, 2019. He told me to make sure I call back within 8 weeks if I have no heard anything yet as I should have my case number beforehand.

We received our DQ email at 8:05 EST this morning. The NVC sent the message for DQ in CEAC at 7:35. We are really happy and what the one poster said about there being a 40 minute delay between seeing the messages in CEAC to an email is correct and something to watch for for people still waiting. I wish everyone else much patience and fortitude during your wait with the NVC. Thank you for all the help!

No, I had to call them on their customer service line (about 30+ times until you actually get put on hold for an operator for maybe 30-60+ mins) and there’s a numeric menu option to see if your mail was received. When you click this and it’s your turn for an operator, they can tell you whether your petition was received from USCIS or not. For me this took a little over 3 weeks, but I’ve seen reports saying it can take up to six weeks.

Separated spouses will often have little evidence like co-mingling  finances  etc.Focus on what you have ..  Marriage certificate , evidence of time together , trips to visit each other , boarding passes etc, photos , correspondence , online chat /video chat logs etc , beneficiary of wills etc

    Hi,

They didn’t ask to see the letter or for any evidence! He simply passed through normally after having his passport scanned. Only question he was asked by a customs officer was the purpose of his visit, to which he said visiting his wife and in-laws.

    Hope that helps.

My husband did this a few weeks ago. He had his ESTA renewed, brought a letter from our attorney stating he was not intending to stay and adjust status, and evidence of his return ticket. He wasn’t questioned. Customs and visit went smoothly. Best of luck!

Madison S. reacted to bakphx1 in Documents if just newly married
They will understand that being recently married and in separate countries you won’t have a lot of things commingled yet. You primarily want to show some time together and regular  communications.

Explain in the letter how you met, if online say when and then when in person.

Pictures together, travel together (itineraries, receipts) and the like.  Chats (just samples over a period of time).  Anything financial if you have it but not necessary for newlyweds.

Kf you’re able to show anything else, it helps, but those are the main things people put in.  Not having a Social Security number precludes you from much else and they realize that.

Madison S. reacted to Dashinka in Autistic child ....Can we Expedite?
I agree, you can ask based on humanitarian means.  I would gather whatever medical information you can for an expedite.  A coworker of mine came to the US from Australia for similar reasons as his son is severely autistic and the services in that country for special needs children are lacking.  I don’t think he required an expedite since it was an employment based visa though.

    Good Luck!

Just got the DQ email!!! Signature has a full timeline. I noticed they update the DQ on the website 40 minutes before they sent out the email. There's probably no pattern to it, but it does mean you can probably login to the website and get your status before the email is sent.

Interview dates can take a long time to get. It does not mean that there are issues with your case, just that the Embassy is busy!
When did you receive your Documentarily Qualified e-mail?
Also check out the “Case Complete to Interview August” part of the VJ forum. You will find other people that are in the same boat and also nervously waiting for an interview date.
