Madison S. got a reaction from Mr & Mrs T in NVC Filers - October 2019
It’s really unpredictable and in my own experience I’ve never had the date estimates they post online be accurate for my case (as I submitted very end of September). Quite frustrating, as some people get approved in days and others in months, as you said I was approved in about 3 weeks, and this was before they were processing cases submitted on my date according to their website.

It's been such a long wait in all.
I feel like I've aged through this process...
When we started, my beard was grey by just two strands.
But now I'm counting up to ten strands...🤣
That's old man!

Madison S. got a reaction from Sea Leslie in I-130 after NOA2 - when first call NVC?
My I-130 was approved on May 31, 2019 and all of my documents left USCIS on June 12, 2019. NVC received my packet on June 19, 2019 -- but I am still pending being entered into the system for a case number.
I've been told by others that it took up to 3 weeks for the NVC to receive their case, and 3+ weeks for NVC to assign them a case number.

Because the tax preparer is an immigration expert? You're all going to get requests for more proof of your marriages.
Either way. If you're married on 12/31 all the way up to midnight. You're married. You falsely filed with the IRS.
Good luck.

Our CEAC Case Tracker Status just changed to ISSUED! My husband just had his interview on Tuesday, but he's from a small country that only issues a handful of CR1s every month. I'm hoping we can pick it up from DHL (our courier service) by the end of next week!!

Interview date: Oct 1
Visa approved for mom & dad.
Consulate: Bangladesh Embassy, Dhaka
Received IL for mom on Sept 16 (CC May 23) but didn’t receive IL for dad(CC July 23). Submitted expedite interview request for dad's interview. NVC processed it in a week ( Emailed NVC & Embassy back & forth which really helps). Finally received IL for dad 4 days before interview date, did medical and finally visa approved!
Thanks visajourney for all your support!

Madison S. reacted to CharleneB in K1 visa interview, is there any hope?
I know how you must be feeling now but take few days to relax and start thinking ahead . If you had stated your timeline between the previous visa application, your divorce and then the current I-129F petition ,I am pretty sure lots of suggestions base on experiences would have been offered here. Hence, always try to tell all here to avoid this kind of outcome in the future as I don't think most of us giving suggestions now had or is having 100% smooth sail in our past or ongoing respective applications. There will be delays and few hurdles down the road and using someone else's experience/mistakes to perfect yours is why we are here, I believe .They don't just deny I-129F petition in Lagos without a compelling reason and as I have read your posts today (not before your interview), you had few red flags my friend.
*Like most people have suggested, marriage in Nigeria is your best bet.
*Document every step you take with photos and receipts .
*My suggestion is you should go for holiday in Benin Republic and Togo together by bus ( it's cheap) ,just few days. With that, you have your names printed on bus tickets and you have your passports' stamps to show for it together. If you live in Lagos, Lekki conservation center , Fela Museum and Olumo rock in Abeokuta are good spots to visit together and it cost almost nothing.Don't forget the use phones that automatically records dates, time and location. It sounds trivial but it helps a lot and by now you should know they take not of timelines, which is very normal.
*Do these before the marriage and also make sure your marriage takes place at Federal marriage registry, Ikoyi for more validation. They also know Nigerians don't stop at just marriage registry , document your church/mosque/ traditional reception and the party.
*I-130 petition takes between 8-12months in Nigeria after marriage.I know that seems to be a long wait but I promise you, it's not my friend, as long as you dot your I's and cross your T's accordingly.
I will stop here but always seek for guidance here whenever you are lost.
Goodluck

@Sam17 @George George @Rupi
Read what happens when you file single as a married person. It's recent.
It's fixable. You file an amendment to the taxes. Only problem you can't do is e file. It was supposed to be a paper filing when your spouse has no social security
-
Madison S. reacted to JMPM in NVC Filers - October 2019
That's definitely not the proper advise. If you're married you're supposed to either file married filing jointly or married filing separately.
Yes you can file without the person being in the states.
(Printing it out and writing NRA (non-resident alien)) mailing it in
Yes you can fix it by amending the filing.
Search the forums for those that got delayed on filing single while married.

Sometimes it can make it seem as though the marriage isn’t genuine if the USC filed as single if there isn’t enough sufficient evidence of bona fide marriage in other ways, especially in high fraud countries. However, many people still get approved for their visa with a “single” tax return. That being said, it still can be an issue at IRS (tax fraud); anyone who has had their tax person tell them to file as single when you are married: FIRE THAT PERSON!! They are WRONG. As others already said you can either file as married filing separately (no ITIN needed, mail file only, no e-filing, writing “NRA” under spouse’s social security area) or married filing jointly (requires W7 application for foreign spouse to get an ITIN). You are, by law, not allowed to file as single if you are married before December 31 of the tax year you are filing for, you must file as married regardless of whether or not your spouse is in the country

Didn't get mine in one day. I got it in two weeks, which I am still super thankful for considering the date posted in the nvc website.
Only thing I can say is i went through a lot of threads reading what small mistakes set people back and tried to avoid them. But honestly it seems like it's just random, I'm sure a lot of others did everything right too and are taking a longer, nobody really knows it seems.
