In most DMVs in Los Angeles county you can't even get an appointment for a driving test in 10 days. When I got my license there was a 2 month wait in almost all DMVs, had to drive down to O.C. for an earlier appointment. That said, I drove on my Swedish license for almost a year, I was only stopped twice for a "routine check" and my license wasn't an issue any of those times. As with everything, I guess it depends on who you end up talking to.

One thing to consider about California law is that nowhere does it say that not getting a California drivers license within 10 days revokes or in any other way invalidates a valid overseas or out of state drivers license.  It is as valid as it ever was until a court or DMV hearing says otherwise.  You are still a legally licensed driver.  What you ARE guilty of, is the fairly trivial administrative infraction of not getting a California drivers license in 10 days.  It means you are late, it doesn't mean you are unlicensed.  Most likely any police officer would not even question it or else just warn you.  If you got a really mean, ill-tempered officer who just didn't like you, he would write you a ticket and send you on your way.  There is no cause or grounds for them to do anything more.  The ticket is not a moving violation, does not go on you driving record, there are no points or any other consequences.  If you just paid the ticket it's probably like $150 fine.  If you showed up at traffic court and showed them you had corrected the situation with a newly acquired California drivers license, they would dismiss the whole thing for like a $20 fee.  It is at most a minor "fix-it ticket".

laylalex reacted to Pbl in If you had an actual i-751 interview, what did they ask you? What documents did they require?
    Hi, everyone!

My interview was scheduled for 8:35 today and it started at around 9 a.m. The officer called my name and I asked if my husband and son should come in too, to which he said yes. So yay for no second stokes interview!

The officer was very patient, pleasant, and understanding. Very professional. My son started getting fussy and the officer let us play videos to distract the lil’ dude (I gotta give it to the lil’ guy, he was SO good! I had to wake him up earlier than his usual wake-up time, get him dressed, and put him in straight in the car seat. He didn’t cry at all during the whole car drive, which took a little over one hour)

The officer said he would conduct a combo interview and would start with the removal of conditions first. He asked questions about where we lived during the last 3 years, where we worked, when and where we traveled internationally, when and where we got married, how we met, etc. at the end of that interview, the officer escorted my husband and son out so he could conduct the naturalization interview with me. He did so and stopped at 6 civic questions, as I got them all right. The questions he asked were: What did the Declaration of Independence do? We elect a president for how many years? What is one thing Abraham Lincoln is known for? Who is the governor of our state? What’s the capital of our state? What is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

The officer said I passed the civics test as well as the reading and writing portion. He also told me he could not make a decision on my I-751, as he had to review the documentation (he did take a few copies of documents I brought with me - and that I had already submitted; namely, our child’s birth certificate and my divorce decree from my first marriage). I offered him supplemental documentation and he said “nah”… He said I should expect a response through U.S. mail in 3 to 4 weeks. He said it could be one of the two: either an RFE specifying what other documentation they needed in order to make a decision or, “most likely” (those were his words), a letter with the date for my oath ceremony. He said, and I quote “It shouldn’t be a problem, you guys have a kid together”.  So the waiting game continues, which is not surprising, but a little disappointing, as I (naively) started daydreaming about a same-day oath ceremony (i know, I know, I should have known better, haha).

Even though I am glad I took lil’ dude with me, I also feel so bad for him, as it messed up his routine and, while I was being interviewed for the n400, according to my husband, lil’ dude lost his mind as mama was not there. He had a massive meltdown for almost the whole duration of the interview. Poor guy is also teething (2-year molars). He slept the whole way home.

He can get medical treatment on a tourist visa (B2) but there's no specific "emergency visa" for medical treatment. He would have to go through the standard process (apply for the tourist visa, wait for an interview, etc.). Unfortunately, I do not think it is likely he would be granted a tourist visa. With a U.S. Citizen child and significant health issues, USCIS will likely see him as high-risk for overstaying his visa/trying to adjust status once he is here. Is he in Pakistan currently? Has he ever traveled to the U.S. before?

@Timona raises a valid point about the cost as well.

Thank you, long time ago he wanted an all white one to call Snowball
    Thank you I do try
Thank you, yes they have each other and the shelter that had them also had the mom they all went to a foster home. These two were the last ones to be adopted. Since they were together all this time I'm happy we could take them both.

We were told they did not come from a good place and to take our time with them. They are very fearful of noise, so the kids have been trying really hard to not fight and yell. It also helps to keep them in the bedroom while they warm up to us. So far they seem very happy.

@Ontarkiecongratulations! Yeah, with mius two is definitely better, glad your Hillbilly consented to it. We initially adopted only one, and when we got a second to keep him initially they fought quite a bit (the younger one is really attached to the older one, the older one too, but youngster likes to play rough) but it seems they are basically a bonded pair now.

Very different personality wise, youngster gets easily scared by hoomans or changes in environment while the older brother is crazy for cuddles and like exploring new places - so it's good for them to have each other for company.

Thank you, I agree but I really did not think the Hillbilly would have. I thought it was a miracle to get one. He has them in his room atm. They are super cuddly, just need them and the dogs to get used to each other before free range.

Saturday we went to meet someone to pick up a terrarium from FB market place. We met in Petsmart parking lot. Of course we looked around then we saw kitties.

Sunday comes along and the Jedi is supper stressed over the loss of his frog. Normally I don't try to replace animals after a death as one needs times to grieve. But my gut said he cannot take another loss and he wanted another frog. They are just to delicate and he gets too attached to them. Too big of a risk. Plus those darn frogs cost $80 bucks. They probably went up in price by now too.

So when we went out to get a few things it pops into my head that he would love a kitty of his own. Big sister has 2 he loves on in her little apartment.  SO I start telling the Hillbilly that he is not going to like my idea and he should just tell me no and not even tell him. Well of course he says just say it.

SO I tell him the Jedi is too sensitive and he's twitching( ticks from anxiety and stuff) I told him he needs a hardier pet to call his own and that little kitty we say at Petsmart would be perfect for him. We he said ok and that was the hardest thing that man could do. He doesn't hate cats just prefers them elsewhere.

We go home I talk to the Jedi telling him I think he needs to wait until he is older for another frog. His sweet little heart can't take it. I asked him what he thought about a different kind of pet. Just to keep him from jumping to something that may or may not happen I didn't tell him, but we took him to look at other animals. There were 4 possibilities a 1 year old female orange kitty, a greyish tabby boy that was 6 months turns out the foster for that boy didn't have him listed so we couldn't fill out anything, and two 6 month old white girls with tabby patches that were to pick from.

The little orange 1 girl didn't want anything to do with us. I think the Hillbilly scared her. The Jedi said she has beardaphobia lol. We could not get her to come anywhere near us.

Next were the two sisters 6 month old white tabby( at least that is what I'm calling them) They came out not shy what so ever. The Jedi was able to pick them both up and they would purr like crazy. So I asked him which one he wanted and asked the employee if they could be adopted separately, they could be. The Jedi of course could pick between the too and the Hillbilly which I would have swore would shay no to two. Said to get both.

So here they are meet Pebbles and Rayla. The Jedi now has  therapy kitties

I feel like because the vast majority of family based applicants would apply for premium processing making it… not premium processing any longer. I do not think it’s a viable option for family based petitions for that reason.
