  1. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to arken in POE question- First time entering USA
Agreed, in fact even the staffs at the immigration line advise the USC to be together with immigrants.
  2. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Umka36 in Is it too late for my 5 y/o to start school?
I don't think so if she qualifies, but best to contact the school district about their policy. Usually its about the age of the child when they turn 5 years old to start K. My kids needed to be 5 before September.
  3. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Crazy Cat in POE question- First time entering USA
Yes......I have never seen anyone have a problem doing so.  My wife and I use the same line.
  4. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to SalishSea in CRBA approved, when/where do we get a social security card?
I assume you mean for your child?  Check out the instructions on the social security administration's website.  I imagine it is much like applying for an SSN for a baby born in the US.....filling out a form and providing a copy of the BC, plus in your case, a copy of the passport bio page.
  5. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Crazy Cat in Recently approved for CR1 and have 3 questions
Fee is paid online after visa is issued......either before entry to US or after.......but the Green card will not be mailed until the fee is paid and the new immigrant has entered the US.

I don't think I would change my address if maintaining original address.
  6. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Crazy Cat in Recently approved for CR1 and have 3 questions
    1.  No fee at POE
    2.  Green Card is mailed after both the $220 green card fee payment and the immigrant has entered the US.
    3.  Yes.  You must keep USCIS informed of you CURRENT residence address....but not for visiting addresses.

The $220 green card fee is paid here:  https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/start-payment
  7. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to USS_Voyager in Recently approved for CR1 and have 3 questions
    1. No fee at POE that I'm aware of. I'm not sure what the $325 is for.
    2. The green card is mailed after POE, given you paid the $220 Green card fee per person to USCIS. https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/
    3. Not for temporary locations. Just permanent locations when you permanently move.
  8. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Lil bear in Filing a change of address if staying in hotels?
Correct. I’m assuming you don’t remove all your possessions from your “home “... your residency is where those possessions stay and you come back to each time
  9. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to Lil bear in Filing a change of address if staying in hotels?
No. You are not changing your residency...  your residency remains the place you go back to after a business or vacation trip

mex2lou reacted to Hank_ in Where can i find the appointment letter/email for the ASC appointment?
For Mexico that may be true .. then that is what you bring.    Best suggestions are usually from those that processed through the same embassy

mex2lou reacted to Jorge V in Post-DS260 Procedure (DCF London)
Be sure to check out the required documents checklist on the London embassy's website: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/required-documents/

    1. On the website above, under "Police Certificates for other countries" it says the following:
So if the above applies to you, then you'll need your French police certificate.

    2. Another link from the London embassy: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/medical-examination/ . From what I gather, you are free to book your own medical at the approved facility by calling them. Here's the relevant section:

Note that it says on there that it takes 5 days for your results to reach the embassy, so you should schedule your medical at least 5 days before your appointment. You may want to take evidence of prior vaccinations, but in mine and others' experience, they probably won't accept it. Getting your list of vaccinations from your GP might be worth while though.

    3. Yes, for DCFers the letter your received containing your case number is your appointment letter. You are free to schedule your appointment as long as you have your case number. For reference, here is my own DCF "appointment letter" from the Juarez embassy: https://i.imgur.com/oEAec0x.png

mex2lou reacted to pushbrk in i864- What number from tax transcripts to use for "total income"
Yes, and if it was foreign income, that number is likely zero.
  13. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to pushbrk in Is "evidence of income" a requirement for petitioners with a joint sponsor?
Your tax return IS evidence of PAST income or lack of past income.  Only if you are currently self employed would "current income" come from a tax return.  If you claimed income on a tax return, that's all the evidence of "past income" that is needed.

  14. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to pushbrk in Is "evidence of income" a requirement for petitioners with a joint sponsor?
Your joint sponsor will show evidence of current income.  If you have zero current income, there is nothing to evidence in terms of income, but you still provide an I-864.
  15. Thanks
mex2lou reacted to millefleur in i864 supporting documents for petitioner with a joint sponsor?
My guess is, if it is past income and you won't be using income to sponsor but will be relying solely on the joint sponsor, that you don't need to show any evidence of income since there isn't any current income. Whosever income will be sponsoring the immigrant is what they want to see evidence for, i.e. current income/assets. It still might be a good idea to write a letter explaining your current lack of income, and provider a bulleted list of what supporting docs your joint sponsor is including, sort of like a cover letter.

mex2lou reacted to Just Paul in DCF- do we submit i864 online or bring it to the interview?
Take it to the interview and also take anything that would be filed at the NVC and not specified in packet 3/4.

mex2lou reacted to millefleur in DCF: Do we mail the i864+supporting docs or bring them to the interview?
Seconding @Paul & Mary, just bring everything to the interview. DCF follows a different process from the usual one. I believe you can proceed right to schedulign the interview on the site if you've completed all other steps.

Incorrect.   DCF does not get processed at NVC.

Take the I-864 and documents to the interview.

It appears the CEAC system still has bugs .. this has been going on and off for months now.     I would have hoped they had it fixed by now.

Just so you know, there is a DCF forum on this website... you might find more information there. Most of use are not DCF here, so we might not be the best resource.

Well if ur unable to login, I would ask them if they have any suggestions. My husbands visa is also a CR1 and the invoice number is required to submit the ds260, but maybe because ur DCF there is no invoice number? You might just need to wait 48 hours but because u received the notice by mail, I feel like the case number should already be in the CEAC system. Hopefully it starts working for you soon. I also noticed your case number format is different then what is assigned by the NVC, that’s probably why they told u the number was wrong. It should be 2019 and then your Julian date +500, so I see yours is 2019197 when it should be more like 2019697. I’m not sure if that helps at all but just an observation.

You are DCF you processed through USCIS and then passed on to the embassy (NVC isn't involved).   Contact the embassy as they may have entered something incorrectly.

Hi @mex2lou we are receiving this same error as you. At one point we got to the second or third page (everything was super slow) but then it showed up as an error again. Maybe they are having a problem with their site?
