Farhanshaa reacted to HRQX in K1
Apply for SSN; it's optional but strongly recommended. Go in-person to your nearest SSA office and submit SS-5: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

Farhanshaa reacted to Tara & Rohit in 221 G after K1 Interview in Mumbai
In case anyone is interested to know: Calling is a waste of time. Unless you've received some kind of notification, don't call. I waited 30 mins. to be told the same thing the email response said and CEAS website said... verbatim! Literally, read off the prompt.
I hate to go into a rant but this is insane! My fiance and I have a real relationship and love for each other. With every day that passes, we struggle to stay positive and this whole thing has tested our relationship to no end. I have never felt so helpless in my entire life. I'm hot! My stress level has reached a new hight during this time. I know everyone here can understand this feeling and all I can do is pray. Pray that everything will be okay.

Consulates set there own policy. Some actually use 125. Whether it is 100 or 125, that is the minimum to be considered before they consider all other items. Being just over the threshold doesn't guarantee success

Wait for the embassy to contact you .. packet 3.
Hopefully others will pop on from Sri Lanka

Farhanshaa reacted to Greenbaum in Nvc
It usually takes 24 to 48 hours to show on CEAC. When you check for the first and subsequent times you use "immigrant" status and not "non-immigrant" as your case is treated as such till the end where it will change to non-immigrant once you are issued your visa. Good luck.

She emailed NVC but NVC responded that they have the petition but haven't assigned a case number yet. Really simple answer

Farhanshaa reacted to Greenbaum in JULY - AUGUST 2019 K-1 NOA2 to NVC
If you had download the PDF and read it, it would specifically tell you that it takes 30 days to NVC, another 1-3 weeks for NVC to assign a case number and then another 1-2 week to your Embassy. Your mileage may vary.
So you received your NOA2 on July 1 and it hasn't been 30 days so what does that tell you? You're early. Wait a few more weeks before burning up the phone lines. JMHO.

Farhanshaa reacted to Emmandis in K 1 noa 2
You should update your timeline, if there was no expedite request, these days that is VERY fast for a K-1 Visa Petition NOA2. Congrats.

Now your case will be sent from the USCIS to NVC. Once the NVC receives your case, you can call the NVC (603) 334-0888 and ask for a case number.
After the NVC sends your case to the embassy, you will receive an email with a list of documents which you should bring with you to the interview.
Good luck!

No RFE, but I was concerned when I sent my petition. I got an an American Passport photo done at FedEx. But my beneficiary sent me his via email. I googled a website to print it according to US Passport measurements. But I had to cut it on my own. I also printed it myself on photo paper. USCIS accepted it. ...Was your RFE because they didn’t have a photo at all, or did they specify what was wrong with the one you sent? ...Many RFE’s get NOA2’s less than a month after the reply is sent. Hope you hear something soon

No one can say with any certainty when you have an approval. Each case is different. Most are adjudicated within 2 to 3 weeks. YMMV.

Farhanshaa reacted to Pitaya in K1
Agree with last two responders. Sit back and relax...there really is nothin else that your can do, except get a cool beverage and chill out. Please keep in mind that this entire journey is just not a sprint race, but rather it is a marathon. You have to learn to pace yourself, or this business can drive you crazy.
Good luck on your immigration journey.

It's been 2 weeks. You are well within normal timeframes still.
depending on the cause of an RFE - and if there are any outstanding issues like background checks - the time could be a few weeks to months.

Farhanshaa reacted to Greenbaum in Request for evidence” (RFE)
That does not pertain to K-1 visas. What it addresses is those who do not have all their information but they want to "get in line" and when USCIS create a RFE then they will send it their missing documents. USCIS wants to eliminate that. This was something that was started with Obama but Trump made it Executive order so now it has "teeth". You don't need to worry. If you are missing and item or need to make a correct they will send you a RFE. I hope this helps clarify things.

Farhanshaa reacted to Jeanne Adil in Expired passport
if you are thinking you will have to provide country stamps to show the trips there , photo the passport profile page (no one else like ups is suppose to make a colored copy of passport) and the stamp for admittance to the country
BTW after new passport comes, the old one is returned to you in about a month
passport numbers will be different
-
Farhanshaa reacted to Roel in Expired passport
Doesn't really change the answer?
Just renew the passport.
-
Farhanshaa reacted to Roel in Expired passport
Just get a new passport.
The petition won't be approved for a long while anyway.
Also you're tired of waiting? You applied for K1 less than ONE month ago.
-
Farhanshaa reacted to Jeanne Adil in Expired passport
renew the passport
if your country does not issued the same number for a renewed passport, send a copy of the new one to USCIS along with the case number and both names and both DOB's on upper right hand corner of the letter you send with the new copy
some countries send back the expired passport with the new one
some don't
if u have both at time of interview, take them to show CO at interview
