Nat&Don got a reaction from rye_212 in March 2019 AOS Filers -- Part 2
Hey fellow March 2019 filers! Just wanted to check back in to VJ since it's been a while and let people know where we're at, in case it's a comfort to anyone.
(Our filing office is the Washington DC one btw, which is actually located in northern Virginia)
So we were one of those unfortunate couples who had their interview scheduled just a few days after everything at USCIS completely shut down (scheduled for March 23), and since that one was cancelled, the case status has remained at "ready to be scheduled for an interview" for the last few months. I've got an EAD/AP combo card that is going to expire in October 2020, and after months of waiting, I've finally decided to go ahead and apply for a renewal, since who knows when that GC interview will actually happen. At this point, I'd be content to have it scheduled for February 2021, because then we'll already have been married 2 years and won't need to get the conditional GC.
Anyway, that's where we're at. Anybody else planning to do the EAD renewal?

Hey everyone, March filer here!
So excited that I finally got my interview letter in the mail!! It's been scheduled for March 23, so I've got a bit of time to get ready for it.
My most pressing concern is this:
My husband has changed jobs since we filed the AOS last year. Is it enough to just bring an updated I-864 and recent pay stubs with us on the interview date, or do we need to mail this in advance? If anyone else has experienced something similar, I'd really appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

Nat&Don got a reaction from ourwildjourney in AoS filing - 3 weeks and no correspondence
Hey, the same thing happened to us when we sent in our AOS package in March 2019 and I remember freaking out about it. In the end, after a month of waiting without news, our package was returned to us with a note saying the payment was incorrect (we had stupidly written the wrong number on the check), so we had to fix that and send it back. Then everything was fine and we got our receipt 2 weeks later. This is not to say that there's anything wrong with your package, just to illustrate the fact that sometimes it takes a long time for them to get back to you, and each office is different, so I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Hang in there!

Update!
Feb 20: Interview in the morning in SF. We came 30mins before schedule. At the inner waiting area, we were called to the interview before our schedule and the officer thanked us for being early. He was pleasant, friendly and thorough. It was a pretty easy interview. I was bracing myself for intrusive questions such as 'What colour are your husband's underwear' but he asked nothing of the sort. First we swore to tell the truth before taking a seat. He asked for my passport, EAD, Social Security, state ID and my husband's passport and driver's license. He asked me all of the questions on the I-485 form and physically check-marked each item on the papers when my answer matches what was written. He would also write down on the form anything I answer that wasn't there (have I been a part of any organization- I didn't write any on the form but I said orally 'like girl scouts?' and he wrote that down). Then he went through all the Yes/No questions in the end, and looked especially serious when asking the question about having ever used public assistance from the US government. Then he showed me all the new information he wrote down on the form and had me sign it. Then he asked my husband where we first met and during this, I make a point of not helping him answer any of the questions, just nodding if he gets it right. After a while we just start telling our story. The officer seemed to be typing everything we were saying, all the stories we tell him and seemingly just every word we say. Then he looked through and kept a few photos from the stack of photos we had printed out and he liked that we had labelled it in the back of each. He commented that the group photos with family members were very good. Every time anything comes up in conversation that we had corresponding paperwork for, we would hand it to him. He said we're very organised, lol. He liked that we submitted mostly original documents and not photocopies (like the marriage certificate). In the end he asked if there's anything else we'd like to give him or tell him and we said no, that's what we have. Then he left to make a photocopy of my own work offer letter (I only brought the original, it was an afterthought). When he came back he gave us 2 pieces of paper, told us that our case will be reviewed to make sure that I will not be a public charge and that the decision will come within 2-4 weeks. Status changed later in the afternoon to interview is completed and that it was being reviewed.
Evidence we had: joint bank statement (checking and savings, the officer asked what we used the checking for, this seemed kind of weird), husband's job offer letter, my job offer letter, my latest W2 and husband's latest tax forms (husband always does taxes early), 1 car title showing both our names as owners, health dental and life insurance through husband's job also showing my name as beneficiary and as dependent, photos.
Feb 21: Status changed to New card is being produced! Woohoo!

I feel your pain, it is crazy that you have to suffer for their mistake even though you did nothing wrong. SUCKS being so powerless when it's about your life. I really hope you get it resolved and they realize their mistake. Just wanted to offer some sympathy since most people on here nowadays are trying so hard to find ways to blame the OP.

Yes, I’m seeing this happen more often and recently. It makes you wonder. At least send them certified so someone has to sign for it. I moved, updated my address with uscis, saw that they updated it and they sent an RFE to my old address. Luckily, my friend still lives there and let me know. But what if she didn’t? Our 130 would have been denied for something sent to the wrong address, an error on their part since they updated the new address. And when I called them and told them, all I got was attitude as if it was my own fault. It’s really getting ridiculous at this point. Sorry had to vent about this. Poor guy...it’s really not fair!

Nat&Don got a reaction from Naes in 3 Weeks and no NOA1 on my I-485 petition yet: Should I be worried?
Thank you for the advice! Luckily we didn't have to wait quite 4 weeks. This morning we finally got something in the mail. It was an RFE, because as it turns out we made a mistake with the payment amount, but we can fix that and send it back.
Thank you to all posters who responded, and for anyone else who experiences a similar situation, don't panic if it takes a few weeks!

Nat&Don got a reaction from Mike E in 3 Weeks and no NOA1 on my I-485 petition yet: Should I be worried?
Hey everyone!
I hope someone out there is able to reassure me... My husband and I filed for my I-485 Adjustment of Status on March 25th with FedEx, to the Chicago Lockbox facility, and based on the FedEx tracking number, it arrived there on March 27th.
It's been 3 weeks now but I haven't heard a word from them! I should also mention that I included a G-1145 for email notifications in my petition, and I filed for AP and EAD at the same time, all in this package.
Looking at average times of how long it takes people to get Notice of Action 1, I wonder if I'm way past the normal timeline here. They haven't withdrawn the fee from my husband's bank account yet either.
Is there anything I can do? USCIS wants my receipt number to check on my case status, but I didn't get a receipt number yet since I don't have NOA1.

Our petition was finally mailed out today from the NVC!!! Congrats to all the other couples who got theirs shipped out as well
Now it's time to patiently wait for packet 3 ... unfortunately in Germany we need to wait for it before we can mail our visa application or schedule an interview.

There are many things that you can be working on to prepare for the interview and you don't hae to wait for the P3.

Hello to all the other couples out there patiently (or impatiently) waiting to get their documents shipped off from the NVC!
Just a little tip from our experience: if it's been a few weeks and you still haven't received an email with your case number, just call them. My fiance called the NVC yesterday and got our case number (woohoo!) although he still didn't get an email from them. Time to stalk that CEAC website XD
