Hi,
I am in need of your help/knowledge.
I filed my N-400 in August 2022. For some reason (lucky enough), received an interview notice in 2 weeks (September) for early October interview.
Interview went great and all passed, but I did a name change request.
IO told me I will receive a notification from local court as the oath ceremony would take place in local court for people who would change name.
And IO also said I'd need to contact USCIS if I do not hear back within 3 months and here I am not hearing back from the local court.
Tried calling USCIS where the auto-answering machine only provides the basic info and hangs up when asked to talk to an agent...
Can you share where I can actually contact and ask about the progress?
I feel like it's in between two parties where either takes any responsibility...
If you ask for tech support it’ll connect you to a person, then you can ask for tier two and a tier 2 agent will call you back within a a few hours or days, they’ll be able to help you.

My I-751 case today had a update, showed case transferred to another office. I guess they have to transfer it for the final N-400 approval, it’s just a matter of time…
Yes my friend, almost there, my i751 was transferred to “another jurisdiction” on 10/12-13 and on 10/29 my interview was scheduled for December 12 so you’ll be there soon!! Remember to always check the documents online cause the notices will be there first 🎉

Ok guys this is it! I am officially a US citizen 🎉🎉🎉 oath ceremony took place at the Federal Plaza room 310 at 1 on 1/11, my husband accompanied me but was not allowed into the room, I first made a line where I provided my appointment letter signed and dated, along with my old green card and work permit, they gave me the certificate, checked that everything was correct and then was asked to go into room 300 cause 310 was full, they gave us two envelopes, one with a letter from President Biden congratulating us and the other a USCIS package with instructions on life as a citizen, passport application, national anthem, pledge of allegiance and oath of allegiance and a tiny US flag, after that an officer gave a speech from the other room which we watched on a big screen, we all said the oath in unison, they congratulated us, we cheered and clapped and off we went, they asked us if we wanted to take pictures next to a US flag to go to the second floor and we all did, I waved both of my flags 🇺🇸🇩🇴 and I’m so damn happy and proud to finally being an American, it’s been my dream for as long as I can remember and it finally happened, if anyone would know about my immigration story, they would understand how important this achievement was for me and for all of us immigrants that came to this country full of hopes and dreams that are unfolding for us all. The entire process took about maybe 1/2 hr so it was quick, I took longer dolling up lol I looked like a congresswoman 😁to all of you still waiting I wish nothing but speed and good luck with your new American lives 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
ps: I am learning the lyrics to the national anthem from that uscis pamphlet and will upload it to tiktok, will sing it better than fergie 😬 if you find it you find it 🤭
Good luck amigos 👍🏽 🍀

Had my N-400 interview this week and it went well. My I-751 interview was waived and updated online today saying it’s been approved. So just waiting for the oath ceremony letter now.
Hey @LizM I know we filed the aos together and here we are at citizenship lol question: you said they approved your i751 at your n400 interview, did you get the 10 yr gc sent? Anybody else? No one on my threads has and I can’t find a thread, I’m asking because I know we have to give up the GCs and work permits at the oath ceremony but am wondering if they’ll send a gc to have to give it back in a few weeks?! Thanks you in advance for your responses 🙏🏽
ps: if your status online says: we mailed you the oath notice, if you go under documents it’ll be there 😉

We're in the same boat. Boston filer and we submitted the N400 online a month and a half or so AFTER you. So, I guess we will queue up the egg nog for the holidays and not give this much thought as it seems like it's going to be a while. Frustrating but nothing we can do about it.
Did you guys file at 2.9 years or at 3? Idk if it made any difference for me but I waited for the 3 year mark even though I did see ppl who had aos with me who filed at 2.9 and already had their interview and are waiting to be scheduled for oath, so this is totally random, I’m in NY though 🫠

You mentioned he asked for the 'trips'. What was he looking for? Documentation of the trips you took outside of the country as indicated on your N400?
We don't have any airline tickets, etc. for our trips anymore from the last couple of years. Not sure if I ever read anyone having an N400 in which they were asked to produce anything pertaining to their trips. I am aware of situations where people were asked about them. About all we may still have are passport stamps.
No, he asked about the international trips I’ve taken in the last 5 years which were only two and for less than 15 days in total 💁🏽♀️

You guys!! So I had my n400 interview yesterday, the appointment was at 10.55 am and we got there at 10.12am and by the time we were allowed in and through security it was about 10.30 ish, they called me about 5-10 ish minutes after 10:55, it was pretty light very few people, after the officer sworn me in he asked me to produce my dl, passport, social and gc, verified my info and then we did the civics test, passed, we did the reading and writing and he told me I passed, we did did the yes and no then he asked for the taxes, trips and marriage certificate just because my passport still has maiden name and said that he sees that all the time and I agreed my country makes it really hard to change your name, he actually looked through my i751 packet that was sitting on his desk (all my colored folders were in a huge folder lol), I told him my husband was out there waiting in case we needed another interview for the i751 and he said that he was approving my n400 but he didn’t process i751 so he was going to fwd to his coworker to look at it and approve it but he did want to meet my husband when we were done, he verified the info that is going to appear on my certificate, explained the oath ceremony and said that I was going to be notified as to when the oath ceremony was going to be and where, he walked me out and I called my husband over, coincidentally they grew up in the same neighborhood 🤣 and they had a little chat, shook hands we thanked him for his time and left. About 1/2 hr after we left i751, later that day the n400 went from ‘interview scheduled’ to ‘we recommend for approval’ to ‘we placed you in line for oath’ and this morning it was finally scheduled, I checked online and is in a couple weeks 🎉🎉 this road is finally closed and I’m hysterically happy 🎉🎉 I will come back to update y’all on how everything goes after citizenship and document updates like ssn, dl and finally passport 🤗 I wish you all the best of luck and a speedy process and next 4th of July we can all celebrate this great nation like true Americans 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Nope, we didn't get any notice of the I-751 paperwork being moved after submitting our N-400.
We uploaded the mandatory documents for N-400, plus a few more updated evidence after the I-751 was filed including health and medical insurance, and other financial disclosures.
The latest unsolicited evidence we uploaded was the IRS tax transcripts, and a full copy of the I-751 application packet and the 797-C Notice of Action extending the validity of our green card.
I will take your advise to upload a letter of request for combination adjudication of both the I-751 and N-400.
Thank you for writing back.
Cheers,
G&A
Of course friend! Let us know if something happens after submitting a cover letter asking for a combo interview 🙏🏽 hopefully that works and you guys can be done with this soon!!

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to chime into the "Pending I-751 with an N-400 interview scheduled" discussion.
I like to share with you that this is exactly my situation.
My I-751 is still pending at LIN filed July 2021.
I applied for N-400 last July 2022 and got my interview scheduled for November 2022 in Seattle, WA.
It's less than 10 days now to N-400 interview and I had an idea last night which made me upload a scanned copy of my I-751 into the unsolicited documents of my N-400, I also uploaded a scanned copy of the 797 NOA extending my green card validity for 18 and 24 months.
Now I agree that an N-400 cannot be approved unless the I-751 is resolved.
Uploading my I-751 is just a proactive hunch that won't give the IO at my N-400 interview an opportunity to say they cannot make a decision (even if I passed the citizenship test) because they still have to get a copy of my I-751, I believe every IO is capable to making a decision right there based on the information on both forms.
What do you guys think?
Cheers,
G&A
Was your case not moved when you sent the N400? My i751 case was moved a few days after submitting the N400, idk if it helped but under mandatory documents I submitted the expired gc and the extension letter, I also added a cover letter detailing that a i751 was pending and asked for a combo interview 🤷🏽♀️ just rolling dice basically 😁 but am remaining positive towards a good outcome, so if you didn’t upload a copy of your extension letter try it, good luck friend 🍀

You don’t seem to understand the difference between visa expiry and authorized stay, the same issue OP had. Suggest you read through the thread.
Also explained in Dept of state pages here. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visa-expiration-date.html included in the explanation it says (and they bold it to emphasize it) You cannot use the visa expiration date in determining or referring to your permitted length of stay in the United States.
They also specifically note you can enter literally on the day the visa expires, so obviously that is not an issue, they don’t expect you to leave the same day again because it’s expiring lol
can be used from the date it is issued until the date it expires to travel to the U.S. port-of-entry
Additionally, the visa expiration date shown on your visa does not reflect how long you are authorized to stay within the United States. Entry and the length of authorized stay within the United States are determined by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer at the port-of-entry each time you travel.
I’ve had a tourist visa since birth so as soon as I became of age, I’ve known how it works without a paragraph I didn’t even read, should have tagged the person asking maybe? If you ever held a tourist visa for 30 years and 10 of those years as a sensible adult, please share your actual experience staying the entire time given by cbp and also renewing and expired visa right after, I think that would be a great experience to share for when people look for these types of experiences they can find these answers. Thanks.

Hi All,
My sister came with B1/B2 and in her passport she has visa until October 24, 2022 but when she entered to US, port of entry officer stamped her passport till March 2023. Can she stay until March 2023 or she should leave before October 24,2022.
Any inputs would be helpful and thanks in advance.
Raj.
She should leave today if possible and renew that visa immediately. When I was a tourist I would never let my visa expire or travel on a visa that was about to expire. Also, it is nit recommended to stay the entire time the IO stamps you for cause it could raise red flags next time she comes in. Good luck friend 👍🏽 🍀

Hey guys, so this morning I got a notification from USCIS on my i751 (after NO MOVEMENT since filed in 2021) saying that my case was being transferred to another office for processing and that I will receive a notice by mail, anyone else getting this after filing N400? Thanks
Another update to my case today, now it says something about the fingerprints being applied, therefore, I’ll let you guys know when it says “card being produced” which is about to happen any time now because processing times for EAC (Vermont) are becoming due now and if it was transferred to a new jurisdiction with a better workload, we’re getting approved soon✨ I’ll keep y’all posted✨
