There's your answer.   If you look at the i130, nowhere do you identify anything closely referred to as derivative beneficiaries.   You list spouses and children of the named beneficiary.    Plain and simple.

ykowalski got a reaction from Lemonslice in N600 Denied but wife already has a passport
    Update:
So if you read from the beginning of this read you can realize the mess that was caused for someone filling an application for my wife to get a citizenship certificate. They filled N600 on her behalf. They filed back in June 2018 and received a rejection letter back in March I think.
My wife is on her second american passport now so she has been a citizen for a  long time.

Fast forward to mid Sept 2019, she got a letter from USCIS saying they reopened her N600 case and wait for further instructions from USCIS. (We never filed a motion to reopen like it was suggested in the previous comments), they reopened it on their own for some reason.
I checked the status online and we were surprised to see that it says we placed in line for oath.
Two weeks later, she received an invite to come to Oath ceremony.
She went today and got her certificate. They used her passport pic on the certificate.

So, glad she ended up getting her certificate.
Lesson learned, do not let idiots fill out any application for you. Do the readings yourself, follow instructions to the letter.

    Have a nice day.

I am bumping this back up.

I was able to get a draft of the N600 that was submitted by the preparer, I noticed she filled out other places wrong as well.
The preparer selected LPR while my wife has had a valid passport since 2010.
She became a citizen through her dad, but they only included the mom's information.
She got the port and date of entry wrong.

The question is, is this worth going through with it and appealing it and pay the fee or just forget about it.

Again, my wife is on her second passport and she recently got her second one back in October.

We are really worried that this will bite us when we file for I130 for me. Not sure what to do.

This is why I do not trust anyone to fill out anything for me or my family.

I figured out where things went wrong.
Her mom and dad became citizens at different times.
Her dad became a citizen before her 18th birthday (She used his certificate to prove she's a citizen when getting a passport).
Her mom became a citizen after her 18th birthday.

The genius preparer used her mom's citizenship certificate when applied for the N600. Left the father's fields blank.

Let's not confuse the issue further as it has nothing to do with this case. However, he CAN apply for but there is no NEED for a "Certificate of Citizenship" if he wants. But he CANNOT obtain a "Naturalization Certificate", because he didn't naturalize. Naturalization and citizenship through parents who Naturalized are NOT the same thing. Attention to detail is important here. Without it, you hurt, not help people.

This person cannot obtain a Naturalization Certificate because they did not Naturalize. He obtained citizenship through parents, who did not opt to obtain a certificate of citizenship for their child. This certificate is NEVER needed and so there is no need for him to obtain it. His US Passport is all the evidence of US Citizenship he will ever need.

I seriously have much to say but i will try and keep it simple. To us believers, we know and acknowledge God in all we do and at the right time it will surely happen.
I have been so anxious and couldn't understand why even date for interview could take a whole 3months but it finally came on the 17th of December,2018.
My appointment was scheduled for today 17th January, 2019 and i went with all my documents and album.

This is what i think. You are approved or denied even before you get there and so me i think filing and front loading is key.

I got to the embassy at 5:45am (Interview time was 8:30) and it was like i was the first to be hanging around. At exactly 7:00am we were all lined up and marched to the gate for inspection of our appointment letters. We went through the scanning and into the consulate. We plenty rough and funny enough it was the old women who were getting the Visa's....lol.

Fast forward, i was called to the counter to present my documents.
    She asked for
    1. Original Birth and marriage certificate, Police report
    2. Proof of relationship (Pictures/Financial transaction/Tickets) which is all she took and rejected the pay stubs, Wedding cards, whatsapp chats and social media print out that i did.

I went back to join another queue for the interview and the lady called.

CO: Can you please raise your right hand?
    Me: Right hand raised
CO: Do you promise/swear that all the information you have given are true?
    Me: Yes
CO: Who is petitioning for you?
Me: My wife (I mentioned her full name)
CO: Have you traveled outside Ghana before?
    Me: No
CO: Do you have a child?
    Me: No
CO: Does she have a child?
    Me: No
CO: Can i see your left fingers?
    Me: I raised them.

    (She nods seeing my ring)
CO: Can you place them on the machine for a scan?
    Me: I did
Co: Congratulations, i'm gonna issue you the Visa. All instructions are on this paper. Go for it at the DHL Office within 2-3weeks.

    Whaaaaaat! That's it? Hmmmm.

In as much as people share their experience, if what i experienced is anything to go by, then this Youtube videos i kept watching about peoples experiences really affected me. Sleepless nights, studying the documents like i'm going to write my final paper at school. Chai.

So this is my story and what i think. If your case is genuine, just make sure you get the right documents. Just use the check list, pray to God to guide you and sleep. No need to be scared of anything. They are not there to refuse you. A woman almost collapsed right behind me cos of what she had been told. Her Son was trying to calm her down but still and i told her, they need to place the Visa in her Passport and that why they called her to come with her passport so she shouldn't be afraid. She heaved a sigh and guess what? The CO was smiling with her when it was her turn.

Relax guys. Nothing to be scared of if your marriage is genuine and your documents are intact.

ALL GLORY TO JESUS. My prayers is with those of you going. Thank you to all who supported me on this journey.

She entered in April and filed in May? Did she come in under K1 visa? Us Canadians don't need a visa to go to the US but we still have to adhere to the same visa rules, we cannot go in with the intent to get married and adjust status.

Got married last week, crossed over to the US from Canada, CBP asked us what our plans are, I told him the wife will petition I130 for me, I also told him I have documents to show that I have ties in Canada and I am only seeking entrance to the US to drop off my wife at home. He told me good job to have researched everything prior to coming and let us ago two minutes later.
