Celie got a reaction from WFinished in I-751 August Filers - Removing Conditions
Update on my husband's case (kind of):
We applied for his naturalization two weeks ago and his I-751 case was transferred a couple of days afterwards to NBC. His citizenship case shows "actively being reviewed" but I'm not entirely sure if that's accurate lol
Ours is on the exact same boat lol

Celie reacted to JeanneAdil in Why does the US hate AOS from tourist visas?
Because it bypasses the entire system of security checks in the home country that is done there by the embassy and USCIS has to do it from here which ties up the federal system(s) that have to search for answer(s) and security checks from foreign governments Doing this involves several branches of the federal government
for one a tourist does not have to provide a criminal report and medical exam so all the paperwork that would have been done from homeland now has to be done from here and is much harder to do especially from governments that are poor record keepers

Celie reacted to Mr&Mrs G. in Raleigh NC Case complete
My journey has finally ended today, a big thanks to all at visajourney who helped and supported me when I first applied for an IR1 visa. When I joined visajourney I was a lot more active but I have not been posting in a long time although I still availed of the fabulous information this forum provides.
I had my interview today at the Raleigh NC office and it all went smoothly. I arrived 10 minutes early and checked in and then they sent me to the second floor for my interview. I waited about 20 minutes then I was called in for my interview, the officer was very nice and was very pleasant. Basic English test, read a sentence then wrote a sentence before moving on to the civics test.
3 questions only and civics test passed.
1. Name a native American Indian tribe
2. Name the capital of NC
3. Name the capital of the USA
Basic questions followed, like have you ever been a member of a militia or a prison guard. There was approximately 20 questions like this all with the answer "No"
No request was made to see any of the paperwork that I had brought only a quick look at my green card. I was told I passed my interview and that there was a same day oath ceremony downstairs. All told the interview was between 10-15 minutes.
Downstairs for the oath ceremony which started within 5 minutes of me sitting down. I took the oath of allegiance with five others and I was then handed my naturalization certificate.
The most stressful part of the day was wearing long pants in near 100 degree heat, it was great to get back into my shorts once I left the building. The only downside to the day was that no family were allowed attend or view my oath ceremony.
Best of luck to those of you who are still on your journey, hopefully it will end soon for you.

Good luck everyone!

You know... I filed my wife's N400 last night and today it has already auto generated two documents. One being the receipt, and the Second document being the biometrics reuse document that we all had to wait a couple weeks or so to be sent to us after filing the I751. Tells me everything really is online and if the system can determine the reuse of biometrics, then just how backed up are they that they have to manually go through everyone's files just to make a decision? I know my wife is currently down my throat asking me if I am lying to her about her immigration because one of her other friends filed their I751 after we did (Her friends is also LIN like ours is) and apparently got their 10yr in the mail recently, so they all think I am lying to her. lol
Well, at least the N400 is easy to file. Just make sure you have everything accessible that you basically used to file for the K1, AOS, and ROC combined, and it is pretty smooth and just need to update certain documents. lol

Celie got a reaction from Carpe Vinum in Processing Updates (I-751) for SRC (Texas Service Center)
So, I know we have a the super handy spreadsheet but for my own sanity, I wanted to make this thread in case any other SRC I-751 Filers would like to keep others updated if we hear anything. It seems that SRC went from full steam ahead to full stop. In previous filings, I was able to trace what month they were generally working on based on the monthly chats but now it looks like they've stopped abruptly.
Anyway, I'll bring the tacos if y'all bring the updates!

So question to the masses:
We are moving in August to another state but will be SO CLOSE to the timeframe of my husband's ROC hopefully being approved (AOS'd from K1). Would it be alright to change the address to my sister's house down the street and fly back if we need to attend the interview? I would hate to switch addresses to a different state and reset the clock.
Edited to clarify: I mean would it be alright to change my physical address to my actual location but my forwarding address to my sister's house still in texas. Would that change our service center?

Celie reacted to Vicolas in Moving States so close to ROC processing time
I moved after I submitted the ROC, I submitted the change of address online, and my case didn’t get transferred.

Celie reacted to DaveAndAnastasia in Moving States so close to ROC processing time
While moving could change your local field office and maybe the lockbox you'd send an initial application to, I don't think it would cause your ROC application to be transferred to another service center.
In the case where you need an interview (unlikely, since you're doing AOS from a K-1 and so almost certainly had an AOS interview), it would go to the field office for your new address.
