Invisible reacted to zane7570 in my wife has interview in 2 weeks. How many photos to bring?
My wife is going to Moscow in 2 weeks for the interview. She has all required documents but needs to know how many photos of us together she should bring. She has hundreds but would like to lighten her load if possible. Please forgive me if there is already a topic about this. Thank you.

Invisible reacted to RobertM54 in Kiev: issue K2 without father's permission?
We will have our interview in a couple of weeks. Irina does not have the permission from Bogdan's father. The instructions on the embassy site are ambiguous:
    2. Single/divorced/widowed and married applicants with children from previous marriages will be questioned about child’s custody status and should come prepared to discuss the issue and provide any related documents they may have. The Ukrainian government has certain requirements for children traveling outside Ukraine. You may contact the government of Ukraine to find out more about the requirements applicable to your specific situation. If we should not try for K2 until we have his permission, we can wait for 4 months (ish) to apply for Bogdan's K2? And we can apply for more time?

Invisible reacted to x_driven_x in [Kyiv, Ukraine] Do minor children need to attend the K1 visa interview? And, single parent proof.
I've read conflicting information and just trying to find answers from people who have experienced it.

My fiance has a 2 year old child and wants a definitive answer on if the child needs to attend the interview or not. I've read conflicting information even from official sources.

Also, she has some official paper from the her oblast government stating that the child has no father (good for 6 months), is that all she will need at the interview to deal with the parental/custodial questions?

    Thanks all!

Update:  I scheduled my appointment.  August.  Nothing earlier.  I am still beside myself that there is such a wait time these days when only a month or two ago people could get an appointment the next stinking day if they wanted.  What changed?  Ask the embassy and they don't offer any answers.  I really would like to know why.  I can't imagine there was some sudden influx of people scheduling appointments.  All June?  All July?  Nothing?

Anyway, a bit of advice if you lock your account due to excessive activity and have not yet scheduled your appointment.  They will tell you 24-72 hours and your account will unlock.  In the meantime, call them to schedule your appointment.  If you get someone who tells you they can't schedule an appointment if your account is locked this is not true.  Just keep calling back until you get someone who will do it.

Best advice is to start a FBI records check. There are instructions on the FBI website on how to order it. You need fingerprints done (1 card) and I believe it costs 18.00 or so. If he has anything on his records it will show there along with case numbers, country that it occurred in, state, everything. Problem is it takes about 14-16 weeks to get the report. Their are background check places that can order it on your behalf for an exorbitant fee usually. They have a list of authorized places on the FBI website also. You need to get a finger print card done anyway, and since you are in the office have them submit it. If you need any help, let me know, I can send you some links. It is really easy, one page form, money order, and the fingerprint card. I run my records every January 1st or so, and get results in April. I just do it to keep tabs on my records due to my employment, something comes up by mistake, I will be in federal prison for real. Best bet is to push the clerk or courts for it. Another option is they have those places that will expunge your record for a fee, they usually have a good relationship with clerk of courts and can come up with paperwork for a fee of course. Hopefully you get it worked out.

Nothing with USCIS is as casual as calling to explain something.  Everything must be done in writing with as much supporting documentation as is available.

Records are there even when expunged they still have them. The general public will never see them again but the government never gets rid of them completely.

Sometimes the clerk at the court house does not want to dig for them so they will tell a person that there is nothing. Many times it's because they are old and not in the computer system and the person has to manually look for them in logs. They need as much info as possible to search in the logs, then they can request them. Most of the time they are kept in a warehouse somewhere so they need to go dig them out.

Good luck with your journey, I'm sure this hiccup will be over soon.

then USCIS wants all the papers as it relates to the case, you need to have him push a little harder at the court to get it, if you don't have it your looking at a denial of the petition.

This has happened before where someone has disclosed a previous 'crime' or what ever you'd like to call it, then the court either drops charges or it's 'sealed', but USCIS still wants proof but the court has no records allegedly. If this were the case you could try searching top right hand side of the screen in the search bar for topics relating to that and see what others have done.

But, as others said, until you get the letter you won't actually know what it is all about.

If you look at the timelines for NOA2 approvals, you will see that the back lot has dropped a lot in the last few months.  Currently they are approving applications with a NOA1 date at the end of November.

That is 4 months out from now.  Add one month to get to the embassy and then a couple well delay before the interview.  There Kiev embassy is much faster than most.  So you are looking at 6 months at the outside range.  You could delay scheduling the interview a bit, when you get to they point.  Personally I wouldn't since the visa is good for 4 months and that gives you plenty of time.  And if for some reason it's not, I believe it's fairly easy to apply for a time extension.

This is the story as old as the world. Evading army service has nothing to do with the 'current' situation as those actually involved in military actions are all in contract service, not drafted. They are trained, paid, equipped and protected. And yes, it should result in trouble because it is something not meant to happen, like anywhere in the world, it's breaking the law.
Moreover, I think that this website's policy definitely prohibits calling for or looking to facilitate corrupt practices anywhere.

421 days of loooooong waiting(( sent a request to Ombudsman 1.5 month ago and received an answer:(

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your patience as the Ombudsman’s Office continues our efforts to review and take action on your case assistance request . The office reviews all incoming requests for case assistance within 7 business days.  While our goal is to take action to resolve 75 percent of case-related inquiries submitted to the office within 45 days of receipt, we are currently experiencing a backlog of requests for assistance, and it may take us 90 to 120 days to make an inquiry about your case to USCIS. USCIS then has 15 business days to respond to the Ombudsman’s Office’s inquiry. We apologize for any delays in our process that you may have experienced.  Please be assured that we endeavor to review each request as efficiently and timely as possible.  Once one of our analysts completes his/her assessment of your inquiry, you will be contacted with an update.

If you believe your case requires expedited handling, we ask that you first submit your request to USCIS.  USCIS’s criteria can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria.  If you do not receive a timely response to your request to USCIS and you believe that you meet USCIS’s expedite criteria, please let us know via email at cisombudsman@hq.dhs.gov.  Please provide in your email your Ombudsman case assistance submission number, a description of why you are requesting expedited processing, and any documentation you submitted to USCIS in support of your request for expedited adjudication.
