Timelines are based off users who enter/ed info into THEIR timelines. It is not a service or guide of the USCIS.  They are fairly accurate, or at least close enough, but it is just a sampling of all applications. But patience is the name of the game. You can not contact USCIS until day 225 to check the status anyways, and really, theyll tell you to keep waiting.

Successes absolutely exist. Although the major difference between cases are the reason for an expedite (and evidence of it) + the consulate involved at NVC or later stages.

My apologies. From your post, I thought you were Filipina. I venture to sat that most of us here pay taxes and are common people but by the same token, we are all in line waiting and not trying to jump ahead of anyone else.

Maybe I'm missing something here but you think because you are Filipina that you will get a special privilege? Please understand that we all had to wait out the process and I'm pretty sure that you will too. Please come back and let us know if you have an inside track. My advise is for your husband to continue visiting and your interview will come in due time. Patience is your best friend when it comes to the visa process.

I think you will find that most if not all of those claims came from the Philippines.  My wife has a cousin who claims that was her reason for expedite (birthday) and it was granted.  I do know that their entire CR-1 process was a few months shorter than the average.
We were granted an expedite as well from the Manila consulate.  Our request was due to school starting for my step-son and needing to get him enrolled in time to be able to graduate after all the delays at USCIS AND NVC awaiting case #.  It appears we were able to cut off about 5 or 6 weeks from the NVC at that point.
I would like to emphasis what others have stated - each case is scrutinized by the individual consulate and will vary from 1 consulate to another.

....and I suspect that the consulates current work loads may have a bearing on whether or not they are willing to be more lenient one month and not the next. (but I am just theorizing there)

You can always request.  It doesn't have a negative impact.  Our experience was that we were not able to make the request without the NVC number which was a 9 week wait in itself.
    Best of luck to you!

I didn’t know you could do that.  You will have to wait like the rest of us. No one said it would be easy. But, it is worth it!  Let us know if you try and are successful with expedite.

I applied for expedited processing while we were waiting for our case number to be assigned on the basis of financial hardship. We knew it was a long shot and the request was denied. As others have said, the reasoning generally needs to be evidence of severe financial loss or some kind of emergency. Regardless, I don't think it hurts to request one if you want to be sure. NVC continues to process your application as normal while the expedite request is reviewed by the consulate. Requesting an expedite didn't impact our timeline at all (at least so far!). We got our case number after 4 weeks and are now waiting on case complete at NVC. Good luck to you!

I think they are confusing an expedite with going through CEAC (embassy processing) instead of going through regular NVC processing.

Edit: What kind of timelines are they stating for their "expedited" cases?
  20. Thanks

Anecdotal evidence is only so strong, especially with different circumstances. Each embassy and consulate makes a decision on an expedite request using their own policies. While the USCIS guidelines may be considered, and the FAM has some as well (which is what embassies & consulates actually go by), there are a number of differences that I've seen over the years.

I concur that this reason for expedite is very weak at best. The point of my post was that the embassies and consulates are not bound by the USCIS guidelines.

You can request one. I doubt it would be any faster than not requesting one, though. The timeline is probably a matter of ~6-8 weeks from NVC receipt to interview from what I've seen from others going through Sydney. An expedite is unlikely to speed that up, except maybe get a week or 2 sooner interview date.

Correct they don't these same rules carry on to the NVC, trust me been there did that, Im speaking from experience not from assumption, the Embassy operates by the same guidelines as well. If that was a reason to expedite don't you think everyone visa would of been sent to the front of the line in which would lead to an unorganized operation? Realistically speaking its not an ground to expedite, I had a serious reason to submit an request with the help of my senator and the same reason USCIS gives the NVC gave along with the Embassy when I tried to get an earlier appointment even though the country were I applied for had an emergency evacuation for all American Citizens it still did not meet the "Crisis Criteria"

Correct. The process with Sydney (IIRC) is they send off the documents to them and they handle the DS-260/DS-261/I-864/etc. instead of NVC doing it.

You can not expedite a visa for those reasons what so ever. USIS only expedite visa's for the reasons listed below:

Severe financial loss to company or person; Emergency situation; Humanitarian reasons; Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States; Department of Defense or national interest situation (These particular expedite requests must come from an official U.S. government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to the government.); USCIS error; or Compelling interest of USCIS.
You have to remember everyone that applies would want nothing more for their spouse to be with them for their anniversary, holidays & etc. 99% of applicants would file a motion to expedite in which would lead to no form of order in the processing time frame. Hope this explanation helps. USCIS also has these reasons listed on their website as well at https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

I just looked it up and am extremely skeptical of it. It looks like someone just trying to prey on naive people who don't know how to navigate the US immigration processes and think they can speed it up. There's nothing stopping you from requesting an expedite. But trust me, it will not be granted on the basis of a wedding anniversary and holiday time. As said before, if this were allowed, EVERYONE would do it.

I saw these on the 130FB group too. I'm not sure I buy that. I think the beneficiaries were all in the Philippines if I recall.
I've been on here a long time and have also never heard of an expedite to spend a special day together - if that got out, like everyone else says, they would all be doing it.
