SEATTLE FILERS!!!! :) :) :) cant believe my eyes...I got a notification today my Green card interview is scheduled 😮

i was hoping it going to take end of 2020 to get my interview schedule...looking at the backlogs and trends going on for seattle..I guess i was wrong...keep ur hope up :) :)

i am so happy as well as nervous ...

but good news for seattle filers

OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING!! I'm so happy for you, I hope that my interview will be scheduled soon as well then!!

  2. So the tracker app got me excited for nothing a few minutes ago :(

I just got a notification saying "Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken", which is the exact same thing as my previous status just worded differently: "Fingerprint review was completed". The date is still the same, August 4th, so technically there's no updates. I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but is there a chance that they want to notify me that they're still working on my case? Or have they gone through an update where they changed all the terms? Has this ever happened to anyone?

My case is still within normal processing times.

    From USCIS

wouldn’t pay too much attention to it

But how can I know if my case is outside of normal processing times if they keep pushing back the receipt date?

It's kinda frustrating that we can't even trust their own website to give us a proper estimate for a "normal" time response. Everyone is being granted their interviews and their green cards already, it's upsetting that not only Seattle people have to wait way more than a year for that same result, but they can allow to make us wait even more.

Anyways, me venting is not gonna change anything. If my EAD comes in soon, I would literally have the time to work, save up money and do all the immigration procedures on my side for my husband and be able to move back to Canada and he would be able to work upon entry before even getting an appointment for a green card interview. Oh well.

  4. Hi everyone! While looking for the waiting times for the Green Card for Seatle (as I do everyday :( ) I noticed that the receipt date for date inquiry jumped from March 2018 back to December 2017.

Do you guys have any idea why that is? I've read in a few places where the inquiry date are changed pretty frequently, but what does it mean exactly? If people from December 2017 to March 2018 had their interviews scheduled already, why would they need to go back?

I was getting hopeful because they had been making really good progress recently, but at this point, I don't even think I'll get my interview before at least 2021...

New site never worked for me! My status there still says case received even though i got my green card already!

Same here. It's stuck to "We received your case" when in reality, I'm waiting for my interview to be scheduled, and my fingerprints review was completed for the EAD.

Also, kinda related, has anyone noticed that the VJ approval estimates for the EAD keep getting worse? When I look at the processing times from the USCIS website though, they seem to be doing good progress. At this pace I could hope to be approved by the end of this month, but VJ estimates that I'll be approved next year.

Hi everyone! I just found this thread, and I'm a June 2019 AOS filer as well. :) I had my biometrics appointment in July, but I'm still waiting for my EAD (and my I-485 status is "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview"). Has anyone from Seattle received their EAD? Thanks!

Filled in June as well, still stuck at "Fingerprint review was completed" since August 4th.

My case is ready to scheduled for an interview as well for the I-485, but I don't expect any updates until 2021 if I'm being honest 😕

I decided to refresh the USCIS case tracker app out on a whim a few minutes ago, and my case just got updated!!

I know that it could take some time before my interview, but I'm so relieved to know that my case has been touched! I was truly expecting to get my Green Card in 2021 due to the processing times at the Seattle office.

Today was especially hard mental health wise, so it's nice to have some good news :)

Might still get the green card in 2021 come to think of it, but at least change is better than no change!

First post, sorry if is in the wrong place.

There are many things to be doing outside of a work life. I have been steadily growing out each week. As a business analyst, i have made some inroads with potential bosses simply through getting involved

Here some thoughts to get you all moving:

    Online courses

    Coursera | Edx | MITx

these can boost your CV and show proactiveness. uDemy is lacklustre

    Community engagement

volunteermatch.org | you are allowed to volunteer. Google your ""city" and "volunteer" and you could find something easily. I have been volunteering at summer events and met many people

Meetup.com | there are networking and social activities on here

Facebook | go to events and look for events in cities near you

Sport - summer sports have concluded, but see winter social sports. If you run, find a running club

    Professional Networking:

    EventBrite - scores networking events

Conferences - whatever your industry there are dozens of paid AND free conferences/lunches to attend.

For professional stuff, look out for lunch and learns, and teaching events. There is no law against being able to network.

    Also read this https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/fiancees

    Thank you for this!

Our income is very limited so I'll see what I can do to hopefully keep myself busy.

I wanted to volunteer at my local humane society, but they require to be involved for at least 3 months, and I know I'll be able to work before the end of those three months. I'll see if I can find anything else!

Hang in there! I feel your pain. Two people from my same office and the similar dates to ours were scheduled last week and people into July already have their interviews (I won't read past that) and here I am refreshing our status every 30 seconds to see if it changes. Idk why but I found this wait harder than the K1. I appreciate wholeheartedly that he gets to be here during this process, but waiting for his paperwork while he sits at home frustrated because he's in limbo is like watching paint dry. Literally everything we want to plan out has a tentative date of "when he gets his green card".

I'm in the same position, up to a point where I'm considering going back home and starting over the immigration procedures, but having my husband come to my home country instead.

Considering that Seattle is most likely the second worst office in terms of waiting times, I won't be able to get my green card until 2021. At least, if I'm lucky, I'll get the EAD before the end of the year, so at least working will keep me busy. But I can't imagine not being able to see my friends and my family for a total of at least 2 years. (And I didn't apply for AP at the time because I thought I would have my green card within a reasonable amount of time, like everyone else here)

It's so frustrating. I came from having my own apartment, having a job, being financially responsible, to being stuck at home and doing nothing all day. (And please none of that "take up a new hobby!" bs) I've always been used to be able to take care of myself, and now I have to rely solely on someone else with very limited income.

Ugh, if we were to go back to Canada, at least my husband would be able to work and be eligible to free health care as soon as he enters the country. This whole process is so frustrating. I can't imagine how people that have to go through longer and harder procedures than our own must feel.

Man, taking a huge blow today here as well on processing times... just checked the times for Portland, OR and they went from 6.5-8.5 months to 11.5-25 months :( Super frustrating considering the majority of April filers in Portland on VJ had their interviews in July (3 frigging months) :( I wonder if they started taking on Seattle cases.

I'm in Seattle and I'm so disappointed every time I look at the USCIS website to see if there's any improvement... Especially when everyone else is being approved left and right.

I thought I was gonna be okay by waiting until I get my green card to go out of the country and visit my family for Christmas next year, but with these atrocious waiting times (I wouldn't be surprised if I were approved in 2021) it looks like I'm gonna have to apply for AP if I ever wanna hope to see my family again in Canada... They don't really have the means to travel either for different reasons.

At this point, if I get denied a green card, I won't bother pursuing this whole process anymore. The homesickness is very strong and I don't see the need to put myself through this again and again. I'd rather bring my husband back to Canada with me instead.

USCIS is very clear on the fact they want the tax forms (1040) with all attached schedules (W-2s, 1099s, etc) OR the tax transcript. Sending both is overkill, but if you send your tax form and it is missing any schedules you will get an RFE.

A W-2 alone is not sufficient the Affidavit of Support. I always recommend using the tax transcript(s) because a) its less paper b) you don't have to include any other documentation and c) it proves you filed your taxes.

Thanks for the help! Seems like I have to do more digging and be more insistant, because when I asked my husband for all of his tax papers when filling for the AOS originally, he only gave me the W-2, and said that "he couldn't find the rest".

Ugh, seems like you can only rely on yourself in these cases!

  12. 11 minutes ago, Eric&Mirella said:

Maybe they want you to  send the tax transcripts? I'd also send 2016 taxes( just in case).

    4 minutes ago, Srinath06 said:

I got the same, but in my case, i only submitted 2017 and prior at the time of my I-485 filing and didnt file 2018 taxes yet.. so in my RFE, i just sent them my 2018 1040 form and other tax related paperwork.

I'll submit those as well! Better safe than sorry, I'd rather give more evidence than not enough. I had the 1040 for 2017, but not 2018, so I'll harass my husband to provide me with these forms as soon as possible, haha!

    Thanks for your help!

  13. Hey everyone!

I received my RFE in the mail and I'm a bit confused, so I'm asking for your help!

My RFE mentions that in my Affidavit of support, my sponsor (which is my husband) has to submit his tax returns papers for the most recent year.

My husband worked the same job during the entirety of 2018 and is not self-employed, so I sent his 2018 (along with 2017, just to make sure) W-2 from said job.

Back when I filled for the affidavit of support for the K-1 Visa, I was able to provide summaries of W-2 without any issues, so I did the same because they accepted it without any problems in the past. Is that my mistake? Is sending the W-2 summary not enough? I don't really understand tax forms in the US and I'm always the one filing for everything, so I most likely messed up somewhere.

Unless there's something else I'm missing, I don't really know what to send them back except a complete version of the W-2?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi! Thank you for your kind words and support. Trust me, I share your frustration too.

After analyzing case numbers and info from this forum, it seems to me that it’s not true that USCIS processes cases in the order they receive them (as it says on the website). All this statistics is very random, showing they process cases in some other order, but not in the way they received them. So yeah, getting too excited about being scheduled for the interview very soon was wrong, alas.

We tried contacting the senator (or whoever is in charge of responding to these requests) in order to get a bit of help on the matter. They said that USCIS processes cases by state (for the green card, at least) and not in the order that they receive them. Which feels very unfair in my opinion. Someone from another state could get their Green Card way before you, despite sending their petition much later. There has to be a valid reason for this I assume, but it is still very annoying.
