617Haligonian got a reaction from PoetiOcelot in how to fill Part 14 Additional Information form I 485 for additional address
It would look something like this. You just fill in the page, section, and number. Then fill in the lines with what the question is and your answer.

Specifically in my example is what I used in part 14 to list all of my prior addresses/address history that wouldn't fit on page 4. (Mine was for Canadian addresses so you may need to adjust the postal code/zip code to fit your addresses)

We just had our interview yesterday morning and it was super easy! The guy interviewing us was pretty casual and didn't ask many questions, we were done in 15 minutes. Later in the evening I went to check the website and it had already updated too

You can get a copy of your i-94 online here (you'll need it for the AOS packet as well) https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home

Once you input your info, the i-94 should tell you your class of admission. I believe most visitors from Canada are given B2 visas (don't quote me on it).

Correct, it was not an RFE, it said "courtesy letter to applicant" and went on to say that initial review of our 485 packet determined that the application was deficient as it was missing the 693. Instructions on the sheet said to make sure to bring a signed and completed 693 to our interview/if your case does not require an interview we would recieve an RFE. Since our AOS required an interview (I think most do) we never got an RFE and just completed the medical once we had the interview scheduled notice in hand. It also said to NOT mail any documents at that time.

    Edit: fixed typo

USPS informed delivery says I either expect to receive the green card today or tomorrow (if they are too lazy to deliver it today, as what happened some time ago for EAD card). I have benefited a lot through this forum and I didn't see a lot of Pittsburgh filers, so I would like to share my timeline and experiences.

As a same-sex marriage couple, we kinda worried about AOS at the beginning for recent immigration policies. Yet we are too young and too POOR to hire a lawyer, so we decided to file AOS ourselves since I don't have any complications. This is my timeline:
    Pittsburgh, PA
04.16.2019 applications sent through Fedex (485,765,130)
    04.18.2019 10:30 am application arrived
    04.23.2019 5pm credit card charged
04.24.2019 midnight received text and email notification
    04.29.2019 paper receipt received
05.03.2019 notice of biometrics (notice date: 04.26 appointment date: 05.17)
05.06.2019 biometrics walk in successful, 485 same day fingerprint review complete, 765 the following day complete
05.10.2019 485 ready to schedule for interview
    06.19.2019 interview was scheduled
06.24.2019 interview notice received, interview at 07.26 11:15am
07.26.2019 interview and IO recommended for approval, the same day 485 changed to interview competed, case must be reviewed
08.01.2019 485 changed to new card is being produced
08.05.2019 card mailed out, USPS/USCIS notified me with tracking number on 08.06.2019

    Interview day:
Got there early and took one minute to go through security. There is a couple ahead of us having some complicated immigration case so we didn't get called in until one hour later than scheduled time. Folks, remember to have some breakfast if yours is scheduled around noon. Anyways, the interview itself was straightforward. The marriage certificate, passports and state DLs are requested to see. The IO asked EVERY SINGLE question on 485 and 130. They apparently know very well how each country works ( I was asked about why I didn't join communist party and why no military training during college). We were asked about each other's birthdays/parents names/parents locations. They requested more evidence but since we submitted a lot (although they didn't have time to review them beforehand), we only gave them updated bank statements, leases, insurances and explained why we didn't file tax jointly. Then the IO went ahead to explain removal of conditions and will recommend for approval. Took probably 20-30 min in total. One thing I must suggest tho, DON'T expect them to approve the case the same day. Although some people gets online update to approved the same day of interview, but most people had theirs approved several days or weeks after. I was expecting same day online approval, so I had a lot of anxiety when the case is updated to "interview completed and case must be reviewed". Anyways, we are done with USCIS for 21 months, good luck to you guys and see you guys in two years!

Yup. I kept all my documents and expired cards in a folder for this purpose. You can't hand it in if it was never produced, but if there's a record that they issued it, I'd definitely keep it somewhere safe in case you need it.

    What fast AOS processing!!

I wouldn’t say they should but they can. GC is the requirement to be handed over. EAD/AP as one wishes. I had two EADs 5-7 years before applying for citizenship. No way i was gonna keep them secure for naturalization. Just like old credit cards, I just threw them in a shredder as soon as they were no longer useful.

I dont think you have to turn in the EAD card. Isn’t it only valid for a year, until you receive the GC?

617Haligonian reacted to Dashinka in What to do with EAD/AP applications if I've already received GC?
Actually, if they do receive the card, and they decide in the future to pursue naturalization, they should turn in the EAD/AP card at the oath ceremony.

No need to anything. USCIS may simply not process that. Even if your husband receives EAD/AP, can keep as a token or trash it.

The joint sponsor needs enough to sponsor themselves, their dependents, and you (not your wife, she's your main sponsor). Sounds like they don't have dependents, so it's them plus you, for a total of two.

For them, their assets need to make up 5 times the difference, since you are not their spouse.

See if you can add him to your bank account. My bank gave me the run around so I just kept asking every month or two til someone finally said they could add him.

You want as much info as possible to show your relationship is legit. I don't have a lease with both of us on it, so I made sure to share extra info like screenshots from posts on each other's Facebook walls or photos of us together.

The affidavits for the 485 is basically fancy words for "letters from family/friends saying they know you're legit". You can look up some examples on this site to use as reference if you wind up asking family/friends for their support.

Your household size is 2 (assuming just you and your husband). I don't have my forms in front of me but I believe the beneficiary gets counted in the household size before the spouse slot. I put 0 in the spouse box since my husband was counted in a prior slot (ie as the beneficiary). I didn't get questioned on it at all.

I'd also file the 765, and 131 since they're free if you're filing for AOS. Never hurts to cross your Ts and dot your Is

Somehow we got extremely lucky. The green card is being produced and should be in hand in the next week or two, should be just under 3 months between initial filing and GC in hand.

He had our biometrics appointment 6/21/19. He didn't have his vaccination records from childhood, so his primary care/pcp doctor ran titer tests which we submitted at the civil surgeon. The civil surgeon was extremely nice and very helpful. She let us know it would take a few days to process lab results and they'd be in touch. We explained we had an upcoming interview and needed them ASAP. They were willing to work with us even on a super tight timeline.

We couldn't sleep last night because we were so anxious the 693 wouldn't be done in time. We rang the civil surgeon at noon, 3 hours before our interview and the final test result had come in and she was finally able to sign off on the 693. We actually were given a full copy of the 693 not just the vaccine page which was awesome.

Onto our interview. We were scheduled for 3:30 in the Lawrence MA office. We parked across the street for $10 and and arrived at 2:45. Waited in the car for 15 minutes then went in. We went through security who was very nice and didn't make us remove our shoes since it was pouring rain out. Gave our interview notice at reception and began to wait.

We waited around 30 minutes with only a few people in the waiting room. He was called in at 3:35, he asked if his wife (me) should come and was told they would call me in separately. This wound up appearing to be the norm as there was another couple where they called in the beneficiary then the petitioner afterwards. I arrived in the room where my husband was sitting, put my purse down and swore in under oath. There was a webcam recording and a huge packet with all our info on the table.
We had also brought a full copy of our AOS packet with us, and a couple additional documents which my husband gave the interviewer before I entered the room (i-693 sealed, copy of reciepts from my ring, employment verification letter from my employer). We updated a couple things in the AOS packet we brought with us like my paystubs so they'd be more recent and some extra bank statements.

The interviewer asked me some basics like my name, birthday, address. These aren't in exact order, so take the order with a grain of salt.
-If a signature on a form was mine, it was.
-Asked my mother and fathers names and birthdays. Embarrassingly I got my dad's year of birth wrong (we aren't close and haven't spoken in 10 years)
    -are my parents living
    -his parents' names
    -are his parents living
-when did we first meet (we met online, then met in person a year or two later)
-when did we officially start dating
    -how was our first meeting
-where did he live (clarified to where did he live when we first started dating)
-where was he working (super broad question, I had to clarify, question was changed to "where was he working when we first started dating")
-where was I working (clarified to be where was I working when we first started dating)
    -who is my current employer
-confirmed how long I've been there.
-who was the employer before my current one
-who attended your wedding and where was it
    -who cooks
    -who does the dishes
    -who does the laundry
    -who grocery shops
-what did we have for dinner last night
    -any health issues I have
    -any health issues he has
    -medications I'm on
    -medications he's on
-do I have a criminal record
-does he have a criminal record
    -do I have any tattoos
    -does he have any tattoos
-have I been pregnant since getting married to him
-do we plan to have children someday
-have I been in any car accidents
-has he been in any car accidents
-have I been to the hospital since we started dating
-has he been to the hospital since we started dating
-does he have any health issues
-do I have any health issues
    -have we travelled together anywhere
-who lives with us (I included our dog and cat)

Questions he was asked that he remembered:
-Went over the 485 application (as part of this, had he ever violated the terms of visa? He had, he overstayed and she made note of it on the 485)
-his parents names and where they were born
-what color is the laundry machine
    -where is the laundry
    -Do we have a lease?
    -who does the housework
-names of our dog and cat
-Who cooks (and what is a typical meal in your house)
-what your favorite restaurant, what do you order there and what does she order there.
and a lot of the questions already listed above.
Overall I found the interview questions to be super broad so I had to ask for clarification several times. For example my husband has lived at a couple different addresses in our 7 years together, so I had to ask which timeframe the interviewer looking for. Some of the questions were vague which made me a bit nervous, but I had to ask for clarification to give the most accurate answer. My husband said he couldn't remember last night's dinner and forgot the car accident we were in together (super light rear end on a traffic jammed highway, we were 100% fine, it was years ago). I personally didn't have a great feeling at the end since I screwed up my own dad's birthday. The interviewer let us know that we would recieve either an RFE in the mail in 1-2 weeks or a GC. Interviewer also let us know that they were recommending the case be approved.

We headed home and relaxed for a while. I took a nap since I barely slept last night. Woke up at 9pm, checked case status and it shows "my new card is being produced". 77 days from initial mailing to GC is being produced. I'm shocked.
