That's actually kind of comforting to hear, it really sucks but I'm glad I'm not alone in this, it's really frustrating

Maybe you have already done your research or maybe not. I will offer these links and information in the hopes they will help you. Good luck.

    Print out your I-94 info > https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html
Follow this guide for getting the SSN > http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
Follow this guide for AOS > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
The fees are listed here > http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

The fees for the I-765 (EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work (along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

That's pretty much it - the wording can screw a lot of folks over, and we've both worked HARD to get here, so we don't want to waste any time. Luckily neither of us are fussed about ceremonies or having a fancy wedding - throwing a shindig can wait, paperwork is more important to us than that stuff (especially since neither of us like big social gatherings). Getting the marriage sorted next week during his holiday is the big thing, then after that we're looking into the AOS.

Hi! So big news - my fiance and I will be making our marriage official next week! We'll be working on getting the paperwork done on his week off

But one thing we're not sure on is how long we have to file for adjustment of status. At the end of June we're moving to another state and I'm not sure whether we need to file for it IMMEDIATELY or if we have some time. When I had my interview at the Consulate, I asked what to do with addresses and explained the situation, and the interviewer said that when we settle into the new state to file for it there.

I did get a pamphlet with the package I gave away at the port of entry, but it doesn't say how much time we exactly have. If anyone can give me some pointers, I'd appreciate it!

I had my interview at the Auckland Consulate yesterday. I was safe to say, a nervous wreck.

But I got it! . I got the visa and I should be in America not even by the end of this month! I waited for 2 hours to be seen and got approved in less than 5 minutes. I have tons of things to prepare that are quite stressful to think about, but I'll be back with my man soon, and it's kind of baffling to think about. Most of my months have been filled with always thinking about paperwork, things I have to arrange like the medical exam, prepping for the interview and now it's just "Get ready to move."

I'm nervous as hell because you know, moving to a new country is a huge thing in itself, but I'm excited more than anything to start a new life with my man. Just had to update you all!

Same here - I was a nervous wreck going in, and even with all the positive reviews I thought maybe I'd just have some bad luck. Turned out to be the complete opposite of what I thought my experience would be. Very calm place with nice workers there, even the security was nice.

Congratulations!  Always reassuring to hear the interview itself isn't very long in Auckland.  I just got my appointment date this morning for 30 May and reading other people's experiences really helps calm my nerves about it.

I fly up tomorrow, and have the interview the morning after. I've got everything I need for the interview - a hotel is booked, flights are arranged, and I'm SUPER nervous. My stomach is doing a ton of backflips and while my anxiety is through the roof right now, I'm looking forward to finally doing this interview. It's been a really long time coming.

I'll be going to the Auckland NZ Consulate. It's weird - I'm somewhat of a veteran flyer when it comes to international flights, but I've never flown within my own country before so I'm weirdly nervous about it. Honestly it's the "making sure I'm there" part I'm most nervous for; going to the interview itself, I'm mostly fine. I am a bit jittery and afraid of being rejected for the visa (that would be my worst nightmare...) but you know, trying to have a positive mental attitude!

I've got my little pieces of evidence (photos of us, text convos and old boarding passes) and the email that I needed to print off to show I have an interview all sorted and ready to go. Sorry if this is rambly - as you can tell, very nervous 😅 I miss my partner so much, so the fact that this is all going to come to and end and we'll be back together soon has definitely got me emotional. We're ready for marriage, and I'm ready to start a new life with him overseas.

May all the old gods and the new and idk, the force be with me in these coming days.

I've checked them out; most of the reviews are pretty positive and it sounds not as intimidating as I thought it would be. Still have some big nerves due to travelling and general anxiety, but reading those does give me some slight peace of mind and an idea of what to expect. Hopefully it'll be just as relaxed for me as it has been for others!

Hopefully it's a breezy process for me too! I have people anxiety mixed with being on the autistic spectrum so things like these are quite nerve-wrecking. Will put on a brave face though - my fiance and I have worked hard to get to this point ❤️

Try to get a good night's sleep the night before,  and do get a good breakfast the morning of the interview. When you get there, don't forget to breathe..... and answer the questions truthfully. Generally, the consular officer's job is to detect fraud. I daresay that the Auckland consulate is shade site better interview site than those in parts of Africa or the MENA states.

Best wishes for a successful interview tomorrow.

You'll be fine! I went with my now husband to his K-1 interview last year in London and they literally asked 1 question, how we met! We were so nervous when we went in, but it ended up being the easiest part of the process!   Just go in there with confidence!
