There is a form (can't remember what form) you can fill out to get them back. They gave me back my pictures but not the papers I was asking for. Said they do not return government property. Which would be fine and dandy but they weren't US government forms so they had no claim on them. Oh well water under the bridge now.

For anyone reading this get several forms of anything from your home country. They do not give it back.

Finally, a comment on this thread that I can actually agree with.  We received a K1 visa because I (the sponsor) make over the 125% poverty guideline.  I'm a couple thousand dollars off of the 250% guideline which means if I applied for this later,  we  wouldn't have gotten the visa.  This is insane to me, since we are living with no issue on my below 250% salary.  It is just a way to keep more people out of this country and I am amazed to see so many supportive comments on an IMMIGRATION forum.  Immigration is already expensive and hard enough, I am totally against making it EVEN harder for people who are working their ### off for this already.

Thank you everyone for all of your responses! We appreciate it more than you know. This was such a stressful time for us and it helped having so many kind people offering different ideas to help us.

Just to update everyone in case someone goes through this too and wants to know the outcome. We asked at the embassy when my fiance dropped off the packet about the police clearance from Saudi. He was told the embassy is aware and not to worry about it. We had emailed the US and Saudi embassies, they never replied by email. The US embassy called my fiance before the interview and told him they were aware getting it was an issue and that they were going to work on it...They never followed up about it. It was not brought up at the interview and no additional documents were requested. Thankfully we were approved, the happiest day of our lives. Good luck to everyone going through this process. It is long, difficult, and requires a lot of patience but it is so worth it to finally get to start our lives together!

Just wanted to let you all know we were approved yesterday Sept 6th! I received an email today that they took action on our case. Old website still says received Nov 14th. New website showed approved! I cannot thank every one of you beautiful souls for all the encouragement and information you have provided these past 10 months. It has been so difficult and everyone that took the time to write words of support, I can't tell you how much it helped. And to anyone still waiting, I truly hope and pray that you get your good news soon. ❤️

We waited 294 days for NOA2 and that was without any RFEs, and our case was straightforward. As everyone else has said already, highly doubtful they lost your petition. Try to keep yourself calm, because this process sucks for everyone. Once you've hit the out of normal processing times, file an inquiry with USCIS. Chances are you will get a generic answer like most of us did like still processing or on hold pending security checks. After that you can go to your local congressman and ask them to make a congressional inquiry. Not sure how useful it will be...we asked ours for one but got the approval before we even knew if they did anything or not. If all else fails and you find yourself 60 days past normal processing, you can contact the Ombudsman for help. Honestly, if you are a genuine couple and did your due diligence when you filled out the paperwork, you will be fine. I of all people know how hard waiting was, so I know it's easier said than done to be patient but at this point it really isn't in your hands.

Yup, they just want their money. They're not picky about where it comes from.

It takes them many months to look at your petition, but they jump on that check like a pack of wolves. That's where the efficiency ends unfortunately.

I've been wanting to write this for SO long!

After 10 and a half months stuck at Nebraska, two months in NVC and almost six months waiting after our CC to get an interview, it finally happened!

My interview appointment was stressful. There even was a point where the supervisor approached the officer and they closed the microphone. I thought I was going to faint. My case was a bit complicated and it looked weird on paper, but after explaining what happened things started to get a little better. Overall it took me 3 hours (two hours waiting and one hour of questioning!) but I fully understood it's their job and they just had to make sure everything was in order. Everyone was very nice and professional, and even being Juarez I've never felt unsafe. I have honestly nothing but nice things to say about the U.S consulate and even though the process is incredibly draining if you play by the rules and follow the requirements it's not that bad.

561 days of documents, tears, long distance, money (oh, the money) the uncertainty. It was incredibly worth it just for this moment! to hug my husband waiting for me outside and dance with my little green paper.

Thank you SO much, everyone, for helping me throughout the process. I couldn't have done it without you, since you helped me not only be prepared for the process but stay sane after it kept taking longer and longer. I am also aware it didn't take as long as others and it wasn't the most complex situation, so I'm counting my blessings and I feel very lucky that overall things went smoothly and I get to drive back with my love to Texas and start our lives together, almost two years after getting married yet so ready to start from scratch as newlyweds.

I wish you all the best on your journey! you deserve to experience the same joy I'm experiencing.
    ❤️ Lorena

We applied Nov 2017 and still have not received our NOA2 approval yet. Still waiting on security clearance or so they said. Even if we get approved now we still have a few months to add between transferring it to NVC then from there to the embassy and god only knows when the embassy will have available interview dates. Even if he is approved at his interview they could always put us in administrative processing that could be days-months. This process sucks, and it's not getting any better. Not to be a downer but just to give you some realistic expectations. Apply now and make sure your paperwork is complete and correct. Hope for the best but plan for the worst. And whatever you do, do not make any deposits for the wedding until you that visa in your hand.

Day 266 and still nothing. I called USCIS today and was given the same runaround. Wondering if anyone else is still on hold pending security checks? Im frustrated because they won't tell me if there is a problem with mine (petitioner) or my fiance's (beneficiary) background check. The reason I want to know is a couple of weeks ago he crossed the border from Jordan into Saudi to see his parents and was stopped. He was told there is a similarity in names. There is another man with the same exact name whose mother's name is the same as my future mother-in- law who is wanted for stealing. When my fiance followed up at the police station on the confusion, he was told not to worry about it since the wanted man was born in '74 and my fiance was born in '85. They have completely different national ID numbers so they told him it shouldn't be a problem. Im worried that this is what is causing our delay and if there is anything I can do about it. I contacted our local congressman today but the person in charge wont be back for a week. Do you guys think this is something they can help with or am I wasting my time? Im just getting so depressed without my fiance, I can't afford to go see him and the last time he applied for a tourist visa he was denied along with everyone else who interviewed at the embassy that day. I just feel so hopeless, it's getting harder and harder to just wait without knowing how long this is going to take. Is there anything I can do to figure out why we are delayed?
