Okay so my fiancé and I have made a mistake and we admit it was bad of us to have lied but we just thought it was something we had to do.

we filed for the K1 visa in February and we stated that we met in July 2018 when actually and honestly, we met in November 2018.

We thought our application might be denied because we filed too early and it might be seen as fake even though our relationship is one of the realest out there and we love each other. We are both Ghanaians but he was filed for by his dad and he relocated after high school. We met on Instagram.

I, the beneficiary is scared that even if USCIS don’t care about when we met as long as we have physically met once within two years, the local embassy in Ghana might see that we are lying and thus deny our application.

It is already too late to do anything and we deeply regret what we have done but you do anything for love right? We just want to be together and some of us actually know pretty quickly if someone is meant for us or not.

Would the consulate know we lied? Is there a way they will know we didn’t actually meet in July or they wouldn’t know and they would just go with the story we presented?

Please, let’s be humane with our responses. We know what we have done is wrong.

    Warm Regards,

    Yul&Dee

You stated you met on July 2018 on your "how we meet"? Relax. People make mistake from time to time. During the interview, just said that you met on November 2018. Don't apologize if the interviewer didn't realize it. Don't say something like "we actually met on November 2018. I'm so sorry for putting July in my petition". Just said that you met on November, if the interviewer question why in the petition stated July. Use the word "mistake" not lying. Something like, "I think it might be a mistake, because we met on November 2018, if you see the relationship evidence that we provide, it is all from November 2018 onwards. Sorry for that. We know we should triple check everything before sent it out."

Last but not least, I'm not teaching you how to lying to interview officer. However, you was lying before and you want to correct it up. Admit you are lying can really affect you. So, you need to be a bit creative in your answer by using the word mistake instead of lying if they realized that. I hope above answer can help you with it. Good luck!

Yes dear i know that. I spoke with them  for the appointment. Any idea how long it takes to get the report done ?

Thanks dear they asked me to bring 1000RM is that right?

Oh wow, that is a lot, last time, if I'm not mistaken I only need to bring around RM500-600. I'm not sure the price now, however, it is better to be safe by bring RM1000 since all payments will be using cash.

Btw, I got my report within 2 weeks

Because the K1 is already submitted. And if I did not absolutely have to, why would I cancel the request and start all over after 5 months?

    In my head ->

    Married in Mexico 8/14

    Visa gets approved whatever day

    Married in the U.S.

    Submit for AOS

No where was I trying to skip steps, what would even be the point of me trying to get married and hide it? That would literally just take longer.

My reason for wanting to be married in August has everything to do with religion, and the way dates line up, and nothing to do with the US government or the visa process.

I don't see anyone stating that you are planning to skip the step. What others try to highlight is, we know you are planning to get married in both country (Mexico and US), then submit for AOS. However, the order of the married is very important. If you decided to married in Mexico first, after that US, you need to apply for Spouse visa instead of K-1 Visa. If you continue with the K-1 Visa (even after you married her at Mexico, by assuming that US will never know about the marriage that already happen at Mexico) it is consider visa fraud.

No one will jump into conclusion if you never stated the sentence "I assume U.S would never know". Once you stating that, it is clearly stating that you are considering to go through K-1 Visa even after officially married at Mexico.

I totally understand you want to get married in August because it is something to do with the religion. However, you need to understand the difference between K-1 Visa and Spouse visa. Everyone want to marry the love of their life as soon as they can. But, they are doing it in right way.

For me, I rather being with the love of my life as soon as I can (that is the reason why I being patient and go through K-1 Visa process).

    Hello all.

I was wondering. My fiancee and I have a k1 visa in that we submitted 3/4 and we got NOA1 3/7 or 9 or something like that. I am wondering, if we get married in her home country (mexico) would we have to resubmit all of the paperwork? We want to get married in August, for some religious reasons and it would be our anniversary, and the K1 visa will likely not be done by then but it will be close I am sure. My question is, if we get married in Mexico, would we need to cancel this visa and submit a different one? I would imagine no because the U.S. would never know that we were married in Mexico I dont think, and we could still get married in the states. But im not sure. So what do you all think?

    Thanks

    Cedric

If you have decide to marry her at Mexico, you need to cancel your K-1 visa and apply for spouse visa after you married her. K-1 Visa is for a couple who are engaged and will move to States and get marry here. Don't take a risk by assuming "US would never know". Still proceed with K-1 Visa even after plan to married before enter to U.S is consider as Visa Fraud. Therefore :

    1) If you really want to get marry at mexico first - cancel your K-1 and submit your application for spouse visa

    2) If you decide to marry at U.S first then do ceremony at mexico - continue with K-1

** Never lie to immigration officer and never plan to commit a visa fraud

  6. I have my green card interview on September last year. During that interview, first thing the lady ask me is "Do you have a joint account together?" I said, we don't have any, but, I have insurance under my husband, my name stated as the beneficiary of his life insurance and 401k. I even question "do we really need a joint account? Because I don't like the idea of having joint account since I love spending my money on him by buying things unexpected to surprise him and I really don't want he know anything about it since the surprise will not happened because he will know right away if he checking the account balance or account transactions. The lady said that "that is how marriage is, make sure you have joint account prepared before you apply on removal of condition"

I know that everyone has their own experience and opinion, I'm here just to share what I go through.

Thank you for your quick response :) I just need clarity on the following things that you said:

K-1 Visa Interview Fee (Receipt) - Not sure what is this, the appointment letter itself has the receipt number and the barcode, is that it?

Also, regarding the supporting documents for the I-134 Affidavit of Support, would the bank statement pulled from online banking suffice or do we need a letter from the bank? and stating what?

    Thank you once again :)

I'm not sure about Mumbai. However, in Malaysia, before we can even set an appointment, we need to pay the fee first. There is a receipt generated from that.

We just bring the bank statement printed out online.

    Hi All,

First of all let me congratulate everyone who has received their NOA2s and preparing for the interview and also everyone who already have their Visa approved :)

I'm preparing for my consular Interview in Mumbai on November 30 and would like your advice regarding the documents below:

    - Original Identification Documents for Me (Birth Certificate, Passport) -if the birth certificate is not in English, you need a translation for that. The translation should be done by official translator.

    - 2 passport sized photos of Me.
    - Copy of the NOA1 and NOA2. - not needed, but it is okay if you want to bring it

    - DS-160 Visa Application submission confirmation page.
    - Copy of interview appointment confirmation.
    - Copy of my medical exam results.- an original copy needed not a copy
    - Copy of Police Clearance Certificate - an original copy needed not a photocopy
    - Photocopies of Identification for both of us (Birth Certificates, Passports)

    - A complete copy of the i-129F Package I submitted. Are the originals of the proofs we submitted also required? I have the copy of the whole application along with the proofs scanned in my email, will that suffice? - it is not a requirement to bring the whole I-129F package you submitted
    - Signed I-134-Affidavit of Support and duplicates of the Supporting Documents. Precisely what supporting documents are required? A letter from the bank, a letter from the employer, Pay Stubs (how many months or years), IRS Tax Forms, anything else? - bank statement, tax transcripts or tax return, w-2, letter from the employer

    - Evidence of Ongoing Relationship including:
        - Screenshots of our text and video chats from the time we submitted the petition until recently
        - A ziplock bag with a stack of glossy photos of our in-person meeting after  the I-129F petition and even last month
        - Copies of plane tickets, eVisa, hotel receipt, stamped passport, etc.
        - She is also going to be with me at the Mumbai Consulate on the interview day

    - Evidence of Intent to Marry:
        - Updated Letters of Intent to Marry, from both of us (does anyone have a format for this? or what should it say) - you can use the same format you are using for the petition before. Just change the date

Is anything else required here except for the above? I'm just really nervous and excited and want to be ready for everything :) - K-1 Visa interview fee (receipt)

P/s : if one of you have been married before, a marriage certificate and divorce certificate is needed too

My comments as above. :) Good luck with your interview

I don't think the Police Certificate is needed at the POE. Only during the interview.

Police certificate is needed during the interview. You will need to hand over the police certificate to the consulate officer during the interview. The consulate officer will include it together with other documents in your sealed package. The package that will be pass to the officer at POE.

    Hi Guys,

Please I need assistance with this.

My fiancee's interview date is January 2019 while his intended flight to the States, if granted Visa, is March 2019. He just obtained his Police Certificate in preparation for the interview. However the issue is that the Certificate issued has a 3 months validity. So it inevitably means the Certificate will be valid during his interview but won't be valid when he intends entering the States. Will this be a problem?

I note that most embassies, include mine (Nigeria), state that the Police Certificate should be issued less than one year. That's the only requirement they stated. So does it mean that even though my fiancee's Police Certificate validity is for three months, the Certificate is still valid for one year in the eyes of the US embassy? Or do I need to get a new Police Certificate as the interview date approaches? Is the Certificate required to be valid only during interview or both during the interview and at the Port of Entry?

Sorry for the multitude of questions, don't want to make any mistakes.

As long as your police certificate is valid during the interview, it will be valid during the POE.

Do I have to apply for an adjustment  of status before our 90days is over. We have entered the US and we will be getting married this weekend. Can we file after the 90days.

You can file after 90 days. However, the sooner you file is better. Your K-1 visa will expired after 90 days. In between 90 days until you file for AOS, you will be out of status.

    Hello everyone,

first of all thanks so much for all your help. hopefully this is my last question for some time :)

    so here is the thing.

     - my i129f form is completed as expected

     - divorce documentation, travel documents are there,  pictures, etc

     - all the required official documentation is in english

however, my fiancee is from Brazil and she is not fluent (yet) in english. I am fluent in portuguese and spanish (and hopefully english :) )

i did translate using an online translator our chat logs, from portuguese to english.

having said that, do you think it's good enough to send the online translation of this? also if so, do i need to fill up my information as i am the translator?

to be honest i dont think so because the information being in other language is actually only chat logs, but i dont want to get a RFE or have problems

did someone run into a similar situation where the SO wasnt (yet) fluent in english and wanted to share proof of ongoing relationship?

any feedback is appreciated, thanks so much!

    jose

You're good to go with the online translator

  14. My fiance (now my husband) came to my country to attend the visa interview with me. Some might not agree with me, however, I believe it help our case a bit. My fiance and I just meet once before filing the K-1 Visa. At first, I'm a bit worry, they will deny us because of that reason. I worry they will ask how many times we met. However, I believe, we overcome that, by having him with me. They just ask a basic questions and didn't ask about how many times we meet (might be because he's there). Aside that, having him with me absolutely help in calming me down.. sometimes, I tend to startled whenever I'm nervous.

but how people usally get this after the interview not at nvc, does anyone can help me what is going on and how long it will take

    thank you

AP can be after interview or before interview. They might want to check on something, so, that might be the reason they put you under AP.

    thanks perfect..

We have discussed marriage, and I was going to officially propose during my visit out there.  I get what you are saying about pretending to be in love, and I am aware that this could be a possible sham, I by no means necessary have rose-tinted glasses on, I'm pragmatic in a sense. For whatever it's worth, the way that our relationship developed, I believe it to be authentic, and ultimately time will tell, but I understand the concern, as friends and family voiced the same concern.  Those that met her later had no concern, if that means anything.

Good luck with your Visa journey! 😊
