JoelThai got a reaction from Holly Kiprits in Thailand medical turnaround
My fiancée's experience in September at Bumrungrad was that she was able to pickup the results the next day after about 1PM.   It seems if the exam is scheduled for either a Thursday or a Sunday, the results *may* be available the next day.   I am familiar with at least 2 others ( @pscorb and @Loren Y ) who were able to get results the next day based on a Thursday or Sunday appointment.  So, it is possible, but I can not say that is necessarily the norm.

@J&M95 had to wait 2 days for results, but the exam was on a Saturday (not a Sunday or Thursday)

Also I am familiar with a case where a Thai K2 child dependent delayed hospital results by a couple of days due to waiting for skin test results necessary to detect TB in children.   As we read here so frequently, every case is different.

In the case of my Fiancée, she had all immunizations completed and documented before attending the exam and passed the initial exam without any issues.   I imagine they can not specifically tell you when results will be available because the exam may indicate that additional testing could be required, thus delaying the results (such as failing the x-ray TB test which may require secondary testing, testing to determine additional vaccinations required if documentation provided at the exam is not complete, or other follow-up testing determined necessary as a result of the initial exam, such as a Psychological Exam.  )  But that is just speculation on my part as to why they would not commit to early availability of results during scheduling.

It sounds like you are in good shape to attend Bumrungrad.

My fiancee picked her package from them yesterday.   Everything went very smoothly.   If all your vaccinations are in order, you should expect the same.    Since your fiancee´ is already a patient there, have her Registration number (Hospital Patient Number ) ready when you or she calls to make the appointment.    For those who are new patients, the operator will assign a Registration number during the phone call.

Scheduliing Tip:   I was easily able to make the appointment for my fiancee'.   When calling, after they answer wait for the prompt to speak to an "English" speaking operator.    They are very good and patient with the caller and English skills are very good.

The phone operator will instruct that she will need to bring with her to the hospital:
    1) Passport,
    2) four 1.5" x 2" photos,
    3) vaccination records,
    4) Embassy Interview appointment letter

She will also need to provide her Case number (BNK #) and Visa Type (K1 in our case), your home address in the US, her home address in Thailand, and a contact phone number and email address during registration.   Registration is on the 10th floor and after registration is complete they will send her to the 15th floor to visit with the doctor and receive the x-ray.   After receiving the x-ray, there is about a one hour wait to get a verbal confirmation of results.

Tip: This is a good time to get lunch if hungry!

If everything is ok, they will instruct you when you can return to pickup the package for delivery to the embassy.  Usually it is a one to two day wait.  Tip:  Appointments scheduled for Sunday or Thursday mornings should be able to receive the results package the following day between 2 - 4 PM.  They issued my Fiancee' an appointment slip for when she was to return to get hers.   The package is a sealed brown envelope.  (Do not open the envelope.   It needs to remain sealed when delivered to the Embassy during the interview).   They did provide a separated letter for my fiancee to keep for her records summarizing the results of the X-Ray and Physical health exam (i.e. stating no issues found)  and a summary of their review of the Vaccination history.

During the exam they took a blood draw and collected a urine specimen.   The doctor she visited with was female (the first one on the list of doctors listed on the Embassy Instructions).   My fiancee also stated they there was no visual inspection of "private parts".  I only mention that as I am aware that is a concern for some.

Exactly this, They were not going to let my wife on our cruise one time when she just had her AP card because it wasn't a green card. I argued with them for 20 min saying its good. Luckily at just about all cruise ports CBP has officers there, and a inspection POE there for cruise ship returns. I made them call the CBP liaison up from the CBP office, and he verified that she could travel on her AP ( It's what it is for). Needless to say got the CHEERS beverage package, and a balcony room upgrade for their ignorance. LOL

Their language of stating that this is being done for efficiency improvement is interesting.   My best guess is they are attempting to reduce the wait time for employment authorization, and this will be coming at the cost of increasing wait times for travel authorization.  That is to say, resources are being moved from one group to the other.   But an improvement in overall efficiency is hard to comprehend.

Current wait times at the National Benefits Center for Travel Documents (I-131) is 8 - 13 months.
Current wait times at the National Benefits Center for Employment Authorization (I-765) is 7.5 - 12 mounts.

It will be interesting to track the wait times for both the I-131 and I-765 over the coming months and see if the time gap widens and the time for Employment Authorization will be reduced.

The "combo" card was first introduced in 2011.

Does anyone know if the Travel Document (I-131) will be issued as a second card, or as a paper document as was done in the past?

Yap. They're separating both now. My boy got just EAD last week though he applied for both.

I wonder who makes decisions at USCIS sometimes. It'll just be a waste of time to revisit someone's file to produce AP which you already knew he applied for and you only sent EAD. Additionally, waste of plastic and time too.

Today my wife's Employment Authorization card arrived in the mail.  She applied for renewal of her previous "Combo" card last July by submitting forms I-131 and I-765.  I was surprised to see that the card that arrived is not a "Combo" card and specifically states "NOT VALID FOR REENTRY TO U.S."   I checked the receipt number for the I-131 and it currently remains at ""The above case has been received by our office and is in process."

After some investigation, I found this: https://www.uscis.gov/i-131

Alert: To improve efficiency and reduce Form I-765 processing times for Form I-485 applicants, USCIS may decouple Forms I-765 from Forms I-131 filed at the same time.
To improve efficiency and reduce Form I-765 processing times for Form I-485 applicants, USCIS may decouple Forms I-765 from Forms I-131 filed at the same time. Effective Feb. 1, 2022, when possible, USCIS will adjudicate the request for employment authorization first and, if it is approved, we will issue an Employment Authorization Document without any notation about advanced parole. We will adjudicate the Form I-131 separately and, if it is approved, we will issue an Advance Parole Document.

Yes, that's what I think now too. I wish, I would have known that 3 weeks ago, but I was too frustrated to check VJ. What did they say, why they don't approve you right away?

We also had interview in San Jose last week and didn't get a decision yet. Our status got put to 'Under Review' Friday afternoon.
Check USCIS site several times a day, knowing full well that I will get a text and email when there's an update and my phone is on maximum volume LOL 🙄
Well, makes me feel better knowing we are not alone! I wish you all good luck 😊

    Hi,

first of all congratulations to all of you who got their GC already.
We had our interview almost 3 weeks ago in San Jose. The IO was very nice, just asked a me about my husbands middle name and his birthday, then she asked me some questions which were asked in the DS 160 and how we met and when the relationship started. Then she told us that my medical is missing (must got lost somewhere, the embassy in Germany definitely had it) and that we have not a lot of assets together (as we live with my husbands parents at the moment all bills for example are in their names). She told us that she doesn't doubt on our bona fide marriage but she has to give our case to her supervisor for review. I really was devastated. I checked almost hourly our case status online and yesterday finally it said card is being produced, today it changed to case is approved. I'm so relieved.

So everybody else who had their interview in San Jose ( I saw that there are at least 3 other ones) and didn't get the approval right away... there is hope. Hang in and good luck!!!

Define irony... Not 8 hours goes by after I post on here that I could care less about the AOS interview and look what shows up on informed delivery on my way thru Arizona... Pretty sure it's the notice for my rescheduled AOS interview. Won't know till I get home, but you know that's what it is. No soon as I post on Visa journey that I don't care about AOS and I'm going to avoid ROC. The interview notice shows up.

After 224 days, my wife's EAD/AP has been approved.  Online it shows only the EAD as approved (AP show a status of "Case Was Received"), but today I received separate paper notices in the USPS mail, both for the EAD and AP, that they have been approved and the card will arrive separately.   Fortunately that means I will not need to bother the Ombudsman.   🎉

So finally, after 6 months, 215 days, today in mail I got notification that EAD and AP were approved last Wed 23rd Oct.  I had missed my October rugby trip, and there had been no response to my Sept 5th service request, so I'd given up tracking and posting. It was a nice surprise to find it in the mailbox today.
