  1. Hi folks, My husband & I filed for his AOS back in March and he's been in "ready for interview to be scheduled" since last month. So far, so good. He also recently finished his OPT which he started after he got his master's degree last year. He's been preparing to start his doctorate and submitted everything needed for the I-20, but that has been put a stop. To be clear, the master's program is with the same department/university. The director e-mailed my husband saying that she forgot to file his I-20 and he's now out of status. He will have to go through a reinstatement process and if he gets denied, he has to leave the country immediately. I am floored that this happened! We're expecting to hear from our lawyer tomorrow to see what her advice will be. Has anyone been in this situation before? Can't believe this is happening!
  2. Hello, My husband and I are filing for his adjustment of status. He's from Taiwan. We recently submitted our application packet with the help of an immigration attorney. And right away we got an RFIE for his I-485. Apparently the household registration that is normally required of Taiwanese citizens is not enough (despite what is said here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Taiwan.html). Has anyone encountered this issue? Our attorney has said that for previous clients, she had normally sent what was stated in the web site, so this is a new one for her.
