TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from mrandmrsBRS in German people...rührt euch!!

TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from Cyberfx1024 in Military spouse's GC problem
I think you might mix something up.
If the service member gets stationed outside of the US and the spouse is with him ON HIS ORDERS, then you're right, and it counts as living on American soil.
OP wants to go to Taiwan because her spouse is on an UNACCOMPANIED tour.
So a long stay outside of the US could affect the residency, because if a milspouse is not on orders the rules are just like for everyone else.

Nobody HAS to apply for citizenship!
There's many people who are loooooong term green card holders.
Although I wonder why someone would want to live in a country so contrary to the own religious ideals anyway.

Yeah, from that point of view you are right, of course.
I didn't consider it's because of the oath. My understanding was citizenship of this country not compatible to religious ideals of of.
Thanks for the slap on the back head. Got it!
See above.
The German didn't understand the message
Mea culpa!

Horrible advice. Fiance visa is strictly for people who are ready for marriage.
If you're not ready your it option is b2 - tourist visa.

TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from Paola Phillips in Leave the US while waiting for Green Card
That "something bad" would be a case for which an emergency AP was made.
I hope you won't have to use it!
Good luck for your further journey, a good start in the US once you come here, and best wishes for your dad!
-
TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from Paola Phillips in Leave the US while waiting for Green Card
If you filed for AOS + AP + EAD after marriage and you have an emergency before you get the actual AP you could try and file for an "Emergency AP".
I don't know how sick your dad is, but if the worst case would happen, an emergency AP would likely go through.
Just don't ever leave the country before you have anything in hands, or you'll abandon your process, like all others above stated.
I've seen posts of people who have been traveling abroad for an emergency before they got an emergency AP... that doesn't work.
EDIT: Of course that is for after you have arrived here and got married, in case my choice of words was confusing.

That's why I said if she/he filed for AOS... THEN she/he can try if necessary.

Alright, thanks!
I thought the "mind change" only counts for "spontaneous" marriage with following AOS.
Learned something new!

TearsOfBabylon reacted to BigDaddy28 in How long should a person who gets her citizenship by marriage wait to remarry her ex-spouse after divorce?
Dear Jay:
I hope your friend gets denied and USCIS starts an investigation to revoke your friend's citizenship. I hope as well if that happens she gets deported to where she came from, because people like her are the ones who make it hard for anybody who is genuine. And your friend is definitely not genuine.

TearsOfBabylon reacted to JFH in How long should a person who gets her citizenship by marriage wait to remarry her ex-spouse after divorce?
It's this kind of thing that annoys me. She used a USC for immigration benefit. As soon as she got her citizenship she divorced him and is going to re-marry her original husband to bring him here. That was the plan all along. Why didn't she bring the child with her when she came on a K-1? Because there was never any intention to build a family life with the USC husband.
She can marry when she is legally free to marry (if there is a waiting period following divorce in her state of residence then she will need to wait that long after the divorce before marrying again). She can petition as soon as they are legally re-married. Whether the visa will be approved or not is a whole other story.
Which country is this?
