I think you’re missing an important point here which is that you have to be living in the same USCIS district for at least 3 months before you can file N400. I wouldn’t move there and put my old address because that gives them the right to deny your application.

I had my naturalization interview today in Lawrence MA. N-400 based on 3 years marriage. the IO approved my application on spot and I took my oath same day so I’m officially a US citizen now but my thoughts and prayers for the ones that are still waiting.

I had the best experience today in Lawrence field office. My officer was a wonderful  person, she was very friendly and smart. We had a really nice conversation about different topics.

She first started with the reading and writing using a tablet, then asked me 6 questions. She only asked for my Greencard. We went quickly through the yes/no questions.
When I was waiting I thought it’s going to be a difficult one but instead it was a very smooth procedure.

    Good luck!!

My 15 years immigration journey is over! I became a US citizen yesterday.

    Thanks to every member here.

    Location: Lawrence office, MA
Arrived 15 minutes prior to appointment at 7:30 a m.
Submitted letter at the counter directed by the security guard.
I waited for approximately 25 minutes, and then the officer called my name.
Raised hand to tell the truth but the truth, went through N400 application form. He then requested a GC and passport. He conducted the civics test followed by reading and writing, which I had passed.

    Civics test:
What does the judicial branch do?
    Who vetoes bills?
Who is in charge of the executive branch?
If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
Why did the colonists fight the British?

    Reading:
What is the largest population state?

    Writing:
    California has most people.

Then, the IO asked the meaning of the Oath of allegiance, why do you want to become an American, what visa when I came to the US 15 years ago and my employment details.

It all took almost 25-30 minutes.

Then, the officer approved my application and received my naturalization certificate after 40 minutes.
Everything was done in less than 2 hours.

There was a 10$ (cash) parking right on the side of the building, which was great.

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting!

Thanks to every member here. I had a great day today because I just became a US citizen, one day after the presidential election.

I was blessed with an amazing IO. She treated me with care and respect, She started with the civic test which I passed in less than a minute and we had a really nice conversation about different topics. She also shared great information and encouragement for my future here.. She didn’t request any documents or evidence except my green card. She then informed me that I’m taking my oath right away.
I think they can tell when you’re relaxed and being honest. They’re trained for it.

I love the Lawrence field office.

Hey guys, I hope that everybody is doing really well.
I have my Naturalization interview and civic test on Nov 4. Let’s assume we get the election results by midnight on Nov 3 and if we have a new winner. Would President Donald Trump still be considered the president from Nov 4 until the inauguration?
Also how about senators and representatives?

Exactly. On November 4th everyone will still be at their posts, but showing that you are aware of what is going on would be an even better thing. As Limey says, you won't get extra credit, but at least this will show that you didn't just study for the test.

No one vacates their position on November 4. Everything stays the same.
Congrats on getting your interview scheduled.

If there are other elections in your area (governor, congress, senate) then you can probably impress your examiner by knowing the current, and the newly elected people, and your awareness of when they will be sworn in. Not that you get extra points for this sort of thing, but it can't hurt.

Yes, Congress convenes on January 3rd or 4th next year I believe.  There are exceptions due to special elections, but I don't think they apply to the OP (AZ Senator will take office immediately).

Of course he is still POTUS.  Each President's term of office ends in the month of January.  The last day of office for Senate and House of Representatives are different from the POTUS term.....but they are all still in power until early January, I think.

A question you could be asked on civics test
the 20th Amendment covers President and terms
Whether it is Trump or Biden,  they will be swown in January 20th at Noon and duties for a new one start then
also this period between election and oath (when it means a change of Presidents) taking is called "lame duck"
the President is shown in at the US Capital building

Congratulations! In my case it took until next day morning to update the letter. Your interview will probably be around Nov 5 .
I downloaded the USCIS official app to practice for the test I like it! I’ll also check some YouTube and other resources.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for taking the time to write about it. This makes a lot of sense, I used to work in an office where each one of us receive tons of claims, sometimes I would fall behind and I’d be working on older claims while my colleagues might be ahead of me.. before the claims reached to us the documents would go to a logistic room where it gets scanned and checked and the same would happen there too. I usually never complained about USCIS In my previous applications but it’s been 5 years I haven’t gone home and I my father got seriously ill , he doesn’t want me to come see him because  he knows I have N400 pending so I need to vent sometimes. USCIS in general were nice to me, very thorough though.

I feel that something is wrong in their scheduling system. People that applied in April, May, June 2020 are getting interviews so fast but it’s stuck for people that applied before that.  Have you tried calling them? Or send them a message online? I’m not sure if that would help but nothing to lose. Sometimes the representative might put an inquiry to be assigned for an officer.
    Good luck

Does he have any indication where his file is?
What messages/steps did he get on the ROC and his N400
    should be something like:
NOA, Biometric, Ready for interview, transfered, interview scheduled (assuming there are no RFE's)

Depending on the where his file is, the N400 usually goes something like this:
NOA, Biometric, transfered, waiting for interview, interview scheduled.

Have him ask the tier 2 of the current location of his file.
It is not uncommon to be waiting this long, but it is not the norm. It could be a case of a file missing data or being misplaced.

My i751 was filed in January 2019, and I filed an n400 in January 2020.  In February 2020, my n400 was scheduled for an interview in April (which ended up being cancelled), but I did reach out to my congressman’s office.  They were able to confirm that both the i751 and n400 would be combined at the local office.

My interview for both is re-scheduled for next week.

It is a LONG process, but your time is coming!

The easiest thing in life is to say that this is the law Take it or leave it. We wouldn’t have the freedom we have today if everyone just accepted the laws blindly. The Patriots are the ones that fought for justice and freedom. Enforcing this law is separating loved ones and families from each others simply based on your income. A US citizen deserves to petition his spouse or parents with no fear if they had a lot of money or not.

I personally don’t care about these “benefits” that I never collected even during the pandemic I chose to risk my life and do my essential duties and I’m still doing so. My problem is not the public means that I really don’t need but it’s how
many people are going to be scared now to petition someone! And how much this country going to lose amazing immigrants.

Life is about love and family not just money and taxes and it saddens me how many people are going be hurt by this and separated from their loved one.
I personally don’t need a sponsor and I also don’t want to bring my parents here because they prefer their home country but Thanks God my mind is so clear that I spoke up against this! I can go to bed relaxed with a big smile on my face. The power of love is amazing. Especially loving someone you don’t know. Try it!
