In regards to the expiration date, we entered the day before it expired. 😂
Granted, it was a K1 but still the same idea applies. No issues at all!
I definitely recommend waiting until it converts to an IR1. ROC isn't too fun.

If I am not mistaken, wouldn't it be possible to go for the interview but postpone the oath until after returning? Then traveling on the old passport would still work. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I would like see this increase on Trump administration, i am pretty sure that the media would talk about that abuse every day, but it is in this administration they dont talk. Really what this administration is doing is getting money from people who pay to hire more officer to give free green cards to the illegal who are get in the country from the open borde,

Since a few people already recommended this, I am going to chime in and say we also use Geico. My LPR husband just got his license last year at 30 years old (for the first time). There was no issue adding him to my Geico policy. In fact, my premium went down $5??

Maybe for the CGC they can put the expiration date out six years to avoid all that killing of trees with extension letters.

Very true but mostly on behalf of their US born children.
OP’s in a tough spot but what to advise?  The rules are clear and other than possible state programs or charities there isn’t much to suggest.  I know in Texas he’d be out of luck from a public benefits standpoint but there are a lot of charity organizations he could check with.
We plan for this for years.  Decades.  Lifetime USC’s with access to benefits have trouble balancing these things.  To bring an elderly parent over without building any kind of safety net is irresponsible on so many levels.

Other than charities, non-profits and churches, your best option would be to find a job that pays more so that you can hire someone to help take care of him while you are at work, or find a second job to pay for his care.  You also need to sign him up and pay for his health insurance, check out the ACA website.  You are putting yourself in a very precarious financial situation without health insurance.  One long hospital stay could bankrupt you.

YEP!! We feel the same. My husband has made massive sacrifices to come live with me in the US. I often feel guilty about it, but he always tells me it was his choice to come be with me in the US so I shouldn't feel guilty. And like you, the only reason he would consider citizenship is to be able to travel outside of the US more freely. He did not move to the US for any other reason than to be with me and I know if something ever happened with our marriage, he would leave the US.

My now-husband visited me twice in the US while his I-129F was pending. They didn't really ask him anything other than how long he would be staying. Both times, he stayed about 2 weeks.

I never claimed my wife's ambivalence was rational 😉

My wife feels the same. The only reason she would get citizenship is so she could travel freely back and forth with me and not keep track of days out of country. She came here to be with me and not to get citizenship. Sometimes it is easy to minimize what our loved ones sacrificed to be with us. Especially someone with a strong cultural connection with their country. The good thing is that there see to be Filipinos everywhere and they attract each other like magnets...

A busload of Arkansas politicians was driving down a country road when suddenly the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field.  The old farmer, seeing what happened, went over to investigate.  He then proceeded to dig a hole and bury the politicians.

Later that day, the local Sheriff came out, saw the crashed bus, and asked the old farmer, "Were they ALL dead?"

The farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they wasn't, but you know how them politicians lie."

My husband feels the exact same way. He does not feel at home in the US and really doesn't like the country. He does not desire to pledge allegiance, so he does not want to become a citizen at this time, even though he qualifies to naturalize. His passport is just as strong as mine and we travel together all over the world. The only instance which may cause him to be forced into naturalizing is if we leave (which may happen).

I am one of those people. I can have dual citizenship but have no interest in becoming a US Citizen. My reason is that the US doesn’t feel like my home and I don’t feel any connection to it, so don’t feel like a citizen anyway. I want to keep that distance (and yes, I am aware that this will mean dealing with USCIS for the rest of my life :)) . I am a Dutch citizen and will always only stay a Dutch citizen.
My reasons might make no sense to other people, but I feel very strongly about them.

Build a time machine and go back in time and read the instructions for the I-90 for a start, where in the very first section of the very first page it very specifically says not to file an I-90 for a replacement of a 2 year permanent resident card.

FORGET about the I-90. It was a waste of time, money, nothing will happen with it and you won't get a refund. So that is done. Forget it.

You need to file an I-751 now, pay the fee+ biometric fee, include your evidence of bonafide marriage, AND include a letter stating why it is being filed late (you could include a copy of your I-90 receipt here, indicating you filed the wrong form in error).
It will be accepted and a receipt issued - note that the receipt letter is valid for 24 months from the date of expiry of the 2 year card, and NOT 24 months from the date of the receipt letter.. So at some point you will need to get an I-551 stamp in your passport for continued proof of status and for travel purposes.

You will then have to wait a couple of years for it to be adjudicated, and quite probably receive an NTA for an immigration court appearance in the meantime for which you should get a lawyer if that appears. In fact, given you had trouble understanding which form to file in the first place, and now have a denial letter and possible NTA on the way, I would say you do need a lawyer in this case.

    Bon chance.

I've been paid by a company abroad where I was not an employee. I was considered a contractor and my taxes reflected this. When submitting my documents, I had to include my 1099 form and tax forms from previous tax years as well. I also pay quarterly taxes on this income since I am still an independent contractor. You should be paying now for the fourth quarter of 2022. Those are due this month, so you will have your proof right there.

It's not. Going on a quincenera trip is extremely common in Latin America and kind of a "right of passage" similar to an American sweet 16. A lot of girls choose this trip over a big party. Any embassy is going to know about this and we know many people who have done it. However, the parents of these 15 year olds we know already had US visas even if the parents were not going on the trip themselves.

We just aren't sure if they are allowed to issue B2 visas to a minor if the parent doesn't already have one. If there is a law prohibiting that, we won't bother having her apply. That's my question.

It's hard to predict if you'll be waived or not. We didn't have any red flags, but we got called in for a ROC interview. We were there for about 5 minutes, they asked us very few easy questions (similar to AOS), and he saw his status update with his approval online about an hour later. He got his 10 yr Green card a later that month.

"..continue abuse..," what are you talking about? I've just been asking questions on whether or not to hand in screenshots of violations of work authorization, and I have conceded that nothing will most likely come of it.

You people just seem bent on framing me as an unrepentant murderer of innocent orphaned children and the elderly, or something equally hellish. Christ. What's wrong with you people.

A few folks here seem extremely bias towards sponsors and American citizens. Jesus.

It's hard to focus on salient advise when it's peppered with constant reflexive damaging assumptions and prejudgements.

    Ridiculous.
