I have a quick question, when are you guys planning to apply for Naturalization? Are you waiting to receive the new Green Card first?

Is that a joke?  That is not good advice at all....it's reckless, in fact......In Pakistan, Extended Administrative Processing can last for months or years.........or it could be denied after admin processing.........

I always thought one effective way to filter these people out is, after you meet, just talk about moving to their country, ask about jobs, housing, visa requirements, etc... you'll most likely find out very quickly by their behavior or their sudden disappearance from your life.

People do get upset when we see tourist visa abuse, because it directly impacts others from those countries who have legitimate tourist intentions.

SaRy reacted to Nat&Amy in Visitor visa then marriage
In the previous thread, you were given advice to go to Guam to get a divorce. You were told it would only take 7 days. You were also told that it would be difficult to get a visitor visa.

Now, on this thread, I presume your significant other already has a visa, has already stayed 5 months in the US, and has not yet filed for divorce.

By putting two and two together, it sounds like the part of the story where you say "person from the Philippines comes to the US on a visitor visa, meets US citizen and now they have plans to marry" is already a lie, since 5 months ago you were already planning to marry anyway.

Lying is never a good idea. If folks at VJ can easily track your past, you can bet that US Immigration can too, much faster, and in many other ways.

Shouldn’t need a link to explain that they can’t put the visa in his passport if they don’t have his passport..

Your “suffering” honestly pales in compared to a lot of people.

4 weeks of AP because *you* didn’t provide a necessary document compared to MONTHS of AP for couples who did nothing more than happen to be from certain countries.

Having a partner from a VWP country compared to those whose only options are the expensive, complicated and more likely to denied visitor visa.

Having been able to see your husband multiple times throughout the year when many people in your situation can go a year or more without seeing their loves.

I won’t disagree with you that the current administration has caused serious pain to those going through the immigration process (many on on this site will). You, however, are not one of those individuals. You’re in an extremely privileged position compared to many, and it seems like a lot of your complaints are from things you have brought on yourself, just as you have brought on this delay by not just being patient.

I’m sort of confused why you are so insistent on getting that passport back. Yes AP is frustrating, but you’re in a place where your visa could be approved literally any day.

What if they were going to issue it next week? It’s possible you could have had the visa in hand on the 18th (or shortly after) anyways! That visit of his you were so looking forward to could have been permanent. Your best case scenario now is that they will grant the request, and then your husband will need to give his passport back after he returns. Hopefully they pick up right where they left off.

Even if the ESTA is still in play, what happens if he gets turned away at his POE? He clearly has established immigrant intent. You don’t think they are going to question all of this? You need to disclose the refusal/denial/whatever, I can’t imagine they won’t notice. I mean everybody in the thread is questioning it, I wouldn’t be surprised if CBP did as well.

I don’t see this as anything other than a self-inflicted delay of approval even if things go right for you. Which also makes me question if there isn’t more to the story.

The problem is that you appear to be "living" in the US.  Once you exit the US in February, you can not re-enter the US with the intent to remain and adjust status.  In my opinion, you are walking on very thin ice, and you could be barred if the CBP thinks you are abusing your visitation...it happens....just my opinion.

This is a really serious topic. Americans with health insurance are dying because they can’t afford insulin. This isn’t a case of “will my mother get a visa”. This is a case of “where should my mother live to be able to afford life saving medication and treatment”.

That is so true.  I was watching a show talking about how people are having to decide whether to eat and pay their bills or get their insulin.  The bottom line is people are dying because they can't afford.  They showed people who had died.  I would be very concerned about bringing someone with diabetes to this country.

You can submit the information from your US Passport as proof of US citizenship. If in the future you would ike to have a copy of your certificate unforutunately it will cost $345. A simple step by step explanation can be read here https://www.wikihow.com/Replace-a-Naturalization-Certificate

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

    Thanks

You have received some great suggestions. You are 19. Dude, you need to focus on studies and make something out of yourself.

No kidding this is uphill battle my friend.  We had age difference (not as much as your's thou). It took us around 4 years (1st time being rejected) and a lot of money (for lawyers which we didn't needed but we had just for peace. I knew more than those lawyers) and tons of endless nights in tears and heart break for not being there when your significant other needed you, plus endless amount of time off and ton of money to travel and be with each other. Read my journey and you will see what kind of ####### we dealt with.

Honestly, cultural things comes in play and IO will deny your petition even before you step in for interview. You may get through NVC but your petition will be denied during interview. Bud, this ain't dress rehearsal this is life.  If you love her and really want to make her happy and see happy, you should spare her from going through this emotional roller coaster. This process is not for weak heart my friend.

Son, this will be a very difficult process and will drain everyone's resources (including emotional and mental stability). There is 30+ years age gap. Don't get me wrong but you probably have the time to pursue it, but she doesn't. This lady is a human like you and I and everyone else here, she has emotions and a life. When she was 19, you were not even born. She is better off finding someone in the US that she can share her life with without the hassle. Same goes to you.

If you really love her, then think about her. She doesn't need to go through this. Ask her to visit you in Tunisia, live together for couple of months. You might be the one who call it off.

I mean if you guys met a year earlier, she could have applied to adopt you instead of marriage. The age margin is closer to adoption than marriage.
