mycase17 got a reaction from OldUser in Traveling to Mexico with expired GC and extension letter while I-751 pending
My wife got denied to Mexico with expired green card/extension letter by United Airlines. They said they need a visa. At least they credited flight and it's good for a year.

That is typical.  Ours has ONLY the photos we sent and some kind of payment form they added.  All of our other evidence is absent online.  Since allot of people experience similar, yet people are still getting approved, I am assuming they have the rest of it somewhere in their system and it is not a problem.  It is a little annoying though.

Yes I just provided DL + SS. Let's see what her employer says. I did explain List B + List C as per this https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents

Use that regardless whether she receives extension letter or not this week.

The benefits of this approach is:
    - Less confusion by HR
    - No need to do reverification

When LPR presents GC and extension letter many HRs get confused, not knowing whether one is still authorized to work or not. Also, they keep asking for updates on I-751 status and ask for new extension when current one is expiring. Best to not to go this route altogether.

The only places that need to see GC and extension letter are:
    - Airlines / CBP when going to the US
    - DMV to renew Drivers License
    - Banks when confirming residency status (this is debatable, but some ask when applying for loans, mortgage).
    - Immigration lawyer if representing LPR
    - Police if confirming residency status

Everybody else should be sarisfied with DL + SS card, including employers.

She will not lose her employment.  She is still a legal resident.  She should get the extension letter in a few days.

@mycase17 can your wife go to SSA office today or tomorrow and remove restrictions from Social Security card?

Then she can present Drivers License and unrestricted SS card for I-9.

mycase17 got a reaction from top_secret in Leaving blank spaces at form I-751 or write N/A ?
I agree with LucyBelle since even leaving the field empty can be issue since some USCIS officer might think that you forgot to fill and putting 'NA' can be problem too.
There is another solution though, you can basically fill out I-751 form using Chrome Browser itself and print directly from there. And you can type N/A in form as well in this case.
https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-751.pdf (just copy and paste in your google Chrome.
I hope that will help ya'll.

Normal.  As others said, the DS-160 may ask different questions depending on the answers in previous sections.  Same thing happened when my mom (also retired) and I applied for our B2 visas.

The DS-160 is an interactive form that will provide different questions based on how initial questions in a category are anawered.  For example, when asked the purpose of your trip, if you answer "student" you will get far different subsequent questions than if you say "visitor".  Same thing with other categories.

    1.  Ok for you to fill out the DS-160 in English.  List yourself as form preparer on the DS-160.
    2.  Most of the information needed by the consul officer to make a decision is already on the DS-160.  The Department of State's website says that financial support documents from family in the US are not necessary.
    3.  Applicants have to book an interview date via the online scheduling portal.

No.  The receipt number is the one they e-mailed when you paid the $220 Immigrant fee.  That is also the receipt number you need to check the status on https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/

The green card can take a good while to show up. I entered using my IV on Aug 9th 2021, and I didn't get my GC until Dec 24th. After 90 days you can raise SR's with USCIS which will help move things along. The final SR that got things going was when I noted "Lost visa packet? Check CCD" on the new SR.

My wife and stepdaughter arrived about 2 weeks before yours and they still haven't received their green cards.  I know of one other member here who arrived within a few days of that timeframe and haven't received a green card yet too.  So it seems probable they are all experiencing similar wait times.  My wife and stepdaughter got their SS Cards in a week and my wife has been working for a month and a half already on her endorsed visa and got her CA drivers license so it's a non-issue.  It says "within 90 days" on the status check so we will call in a few weeks if they still haven't come but we are not worried and it seems 120 days or more is not unheard of.  But yea,,,, it would be nice to actually have the shiny new cards we worked so hard to get😁  Also we travel a few places around here where it is normal to encounter a Border Patrol checkpoint from time to time and while it's not a problem,  it's annoying they always have to carry their passports.

Since our timeframes are similar and we are in the same boat, I'll update whenever we receive or find out anything.

Also, just to verify, you did pay the immigrant fee, right?

Read the instructions for the I-9.  It clearly states that the foreign passport with temporary I-551 stamped MRIV is perfectly acceptable.  You've also stated that your partner has received a SSN, so she's covered - employment eligibility criteria covered with the MRIV I-551 and IRS tax reporting with the SSN.

If HR are giving her a hard time, print the I-9 instructions and show them.  A common experience seems to be that HR personnel aren't often trained properly on how to handle immigrant and visa cases.  Personally, I don't understand what's so difficult about the instructions that go with the I-9, but I am guessing many HR personnel have never taken the time to actually LOOK at them.

Does your partner have a driver's license?  Did the state run a SAVE check?  https://www.uscis.gov/save/save-casecheck

Congratulations on getting your Visa approved and issued, I really hope you get it in time; the embassies always remind people to never book flights or make arrangements until they get the Visa in their hands. You might find better luck asking this question in the regional forum for Nepal where others who have got Visas from the same location might be able to help.

NVC acceptance just means NVC thinks it's a correct document.  A month or so is normal for Consulates to complete a review of requested documents.
