  1. Thank you for trying to clarify. It is an uphill battle on this thread! 😅
  2. Weird. I thought it was required years ago. Alec had to have one to come from NZ (via Vancouver) in 2015.
  3. Really? UK citizens with no ESTA or visa can just drive across the land borders? Must be different for NZ citizens - husband had to have it before he got his B1/B2.
  4. What is the urgency to get to the US, if this happened over two years ago, and if you no longer have that job?
  5. On what basis would you move to Canada? Criminal background/lengthy process would likely be the same. There really is no way to expedite or waive the AP process. It takes as long as it takes. Were you told you are inadmissible and need a waiver?
  6. Maybe. But it's not common to be on a third attempt to marry an American. Starting to look like it may well be more about the green card than "love."
  7. It was, years ago. Now, the length of time for both visas start to finish is about the same. Drawback to K-1 is not being able to travel or work for the first 8 months or so after arriving in the US.
  8. So he has the visa in his passport and is ready to travel here ?
  9. There is no affidavit of support for tourist visas. They apply and interview at their local US consulate.
  10. Well, current income is generally demonstrated by payslips. Maybe you can provide official US military documentation about the nature of the housing allowance?
  11. If "housing allowance" would not be available as a liquid asset to provide for you, I would be careful about using it. Is it considered to be non-taxable income? Maybe @pushbrk can weigh in here. In your situation, sometimes a spouse will get a second job, or a higher-paying job. The US job market is excellent right now.
  12. You would not be able to work or leave to go home to wrap up stuff there for at least 8 months. It is a drawback of getting to stay and AOS without having to be in the CR-1 queue.
  13. Expect to pay $1-2k per month for each of them in health insurance premiums. They will not be eligible for Medicare.
  14. Just to clarify - the process for the I-130/spousal visa can indeed be "slowed down" at the NVC stage. You just have to keep it "active" by contacting NVC at least annually. Because of the NVC's minimal role in the I-129F/K-1 process, the same does not apply.
  15. Not a matter of how I feel- The TOS specifies that anyone may post on any thread. Since you’re new here, I was reminding you.
  16. Most people who are persecuted in their home country would seek asylum someplace else. To avoid persecution. Like how US asylum seekers who are successful are generally not allowed to return to the country where they were persecuted. Make sense? You are teetering on a TOS violation here. Anyone may post on any thread.
  17. Chill. The entire process, from start to finish requires you to educate yourselves and be prepared. You’ve gotten a lot of great, first-hand information from people on this thread.
  18. Right, I get that. It’s just strange that someone would return to a country they seek asylum from.
  19. If you think people in this thread are nitpicking or focusing on things you feel are irrelevant, get ready for a rollercoaster ride when you get to the Casablanca interview. And as for whether he was arrested or a crime occurred, that will be determined from the police record he submits a year or two down the road.
  20. Again, how would they get into these accounts without passwords? Simply knowing a social media handle doesn't mean they have access to content. Btw, you would do well to realize that throughout this entire process, the burden is on YOU to provide all evidence. Even if they could confirm a meeting by looking at your emails, that is not part of the scope of what they do.
  21. No, it won't impact it. She should answer the questions honestly, but no need to volunteer anything that is not asked. But, it will definitely come up, as they ask who you know in the US. It is even on the DS-160, if I'm not mistaken.
  22. The USC spouse would file the I-130 petition. Eventually, you would apply for the spousal visa. Could take a year or two.
