Because no one can rely on this information. Too many factors could make it right for one, wrong for the other.

This article is not correct. It says that the Netherlands do not allow dual citizenship, while in fact they do, as long as the second citizenship is acquired as a result of marriage to a citizen of that country. I think it's always better to find this kind of information on official government websites, instead of random articles.

An RFE pauses the clock for when your case is out of normal processing timelines so you can submit an SR. An RFIE resets that clock. So contacting a senator or trying an SR won’t do much as you are still within normal timelines by their rules. That said, from a practical standpoint the clock doesn’t really reset in terms of how long it actually takes to get approved. It will pause still as they cannot process the case with an outstanding RFE or RFIE.

I was told that processing times are not just paused when you receive an RFIE, but that it actually resets the clock, and that they aim to respond to your EAD application within 90 days after receiving your RFIE documents.

You should have received a receipt notice of your RFIE response by now. You need to call USCIS about this. I also hate to talk to people on the phone, but I had to get over it when I started calling USCIS regularly because my EAD expedite request seemed to be stuck.

I don't think your application has been pending long enough for a Senator to be able to help. But if you do want to ask one to assist you, just check their website. The Senator that was involved in my case had a specific form online for these kind of things. You fill that out, sign it and mail it to their office. I received a call from my Senator's office as soon as they had received my form, and they made a Congressional Inquiry with USCIS.

If you want to speed things up, you can always apply for jobs and try to expedite your EAD if you are offered a job. But I know from experience that even expedite requests are taking forever at the moment.

I know it's hard, I have been sitting at home for 6 months and it made me feel miserable. Try to be patient and keep yourself busy.

Horrible advice. Fiance visa is strictly for people who are ready for marriage.

If you're not ready your it option is b2 - tourist visa.

First things first: you need to get away from him as soon as you can. Find a safe place, maybe a shelter. Maybe the people in the hospital can refer you to a shelter.

Get yourself into safety first. Then worry about your immigration status.

A little update: I called again today and was told that my EAD has been approved! I have no idea if it was because of the expedite request, the Senator's involvement, or just because my application had been pending for 5.5 months. I hope you'll receive good news soon!

Have to agree with Ishnura. If you choose to migrate to the US, whether through just say K-1/CR-1 visa, you have to choose whether it is what you want to do, not just because later you can bring your parents.. You are migrating to start a 'new life', not to forget the one you left behind, but not to bring it with you either. The US has been overly generous with migration, and that isn't up for debate; but change is needed.

Same reasoning, why would you want to bring over people who already have lives of their own? It's part of being a grown up, moving out and beginning your own life. Nobody needs to be joined at the hip of their immediate family. And marrying/moving here with the intent of eventually bringing over every man and his dog you're related to . . . well I'd be offended if I were the US citizen and that were expected of me before my spouse even had their feet under the table.

Thank you very much! Really appreciate it. I have been in contact with my employer 1~2 times a week. Yeah, I will ask if there is some study I can do to make the transition smoother.

Good luck to you as well!!

Keep your employer informed about the EAD process. My employer wanted me to start 2 weeks ago, and I have been sending her updates twice a week, about phone calls to USCIS, my communication with the Senator's Office, etc. My employer is a state government agency, and they know the people at the Senator's Office quite well, so they are even in contact with the Senator's Office at the moment, hoping that that will help speed things up.

I also asked my boss if there was anything I could do to get ready to start working, and she gave me a few reports and websites that I can study to get familiar with the work. And I attended an informal staff meeting so I could meet my future coworkers.

Basically, do everything you can to show them that you are eager to start working with them, and keep them informed about the process.

I think it also depends whether or not they have other good candidates for the job. I think I am lucky, they don't seem to have other qualified candidates lined up for this job. My employer told me last week that I'm worth waiting for, so hopefully they'll wait a bit longer...

Good luck! Hopefully it'll come in time!

I am in the exact same situation! (expect mine is supposed to start in one week.) Every hour I am holding my breath to check my online status. Might have to beg my employer to postpone the start date soon.

BTW, I have heard from multiple officers on the phone that they should respond in 2~3 weeks after the faxing. Hopefully that is the case. (One tier 2 officer even said my case was going to be processed by last week. But it seems that my request is still under review.)

Congressman helped to fax everything to USCIS again one week after I faxed. They did not receive any response either.

Good luck with your EAD as well! Hopefully we will hear something soon.

Yep. Very frustrating. I have a great job offer waiting, but they wanted me to start 2 weeks ago. They've been very patient and understanding, but I'm not sure how much longer they are willing to wait. The Senator's Office is trying to help, but USCIS is just being terribly slow at the moment.
    Good luck with your expedite!

They seem to have a system that recognizes your location. They're open from 8am YOUR time. I just spoke to them, I'm in Mountain Time. Just try again at 8 in your time zone.

It takes as long as it takes. Stressing about it won't make it go faster. July 2018 may or may not be possible, no one knows. Last year, when average processing times were still a bit shorter, the whole process from filing to landing in the US took us a year. And I am from a low fraud country. We just had bad luck, several times (mail got lost, my husband had to request a new birth certificate which took months, etc).
I know it's hard, but try not to stress about it. Stressing will only make it harder.

You know what you need to do. A relationship where you are left hanging for scraps when he feels like throwing them to you, is not a relationship. You deserve better. Break it off with him. Let him pursue his visa intentions or not, without becoming involved. Change your phone number etc if you need to. Cut him loose and leave him loose.  Hope you are able to move on, find peace, and find someone who deserves you.

If you plan on doing so, just make sure you let the CBP officer know you want to adjust status.

They can help you very good, and will gave great advice. Your adjustment will be very successful.

Before you leave please talk to a counselor. You deeply care about your wife or you would have been gone by now.

It took me 3 years to really feel like this was home. I also brought 4 kids with me sold my house, and gave up a decent job. I really had nothing to go back too. I worried left, right and center that I may have screwed up my kids lives bringing them here.

I've been here 9 1/2 years now and some days I just want to pack up and go. I don't think that feeling will ever go away, but at least this does feel like home and I know it was a good move for my older kids.

The panic that you left your mom all alone is normal. I had to leave my father days after he had a major stroke. I knew I couldn't get back home if anything further happened.

Christmas also makes homesickness worse, I can't remember if you started the AOS Process but if you need to get home fast you can get emergency AP if AOS has been started. Start AOS if you haven't and take a trip home and then see how you feel then. Give your marriage a chance with AP and a visit home. If you still feel the same way then you can honestly say you tried your best.
