  1. My wife entered the US March 29 and the green card was issued April 19.  This was in 2017.  The green card was sent in what looked like one of those fake priority mail cardboard envelopes some advertisers use.  I initially thought it was junk mail because there was no return address on it and threw it in the "to throw out" pile.  Thankfully I decided to open it before putting it in the trash.  We were completely surprised the green card was received so fast.

  2. Not possible.  Once a visa is issued, that visa must be used to enter the USA.  Even if you had a visitor visa, they would cancel that visa before issuing the CR-1 visa.  You could reschedule your interview for a date after your anniversary.  Seems best outcome would be for your spouse to come to your country for your anniversary.

The U4U is not the issue, whether he can leave is. Not heard of a fee but there are exceptions.

There is a program in Ukraine for highly technical men (mainly IT people) that permits them to leave Ukraine for vacation in foreign countries provided they pay a fee to the government.  Don't remember the amount but it's affordable for IT people but not for those with average Ukrainian salaries.  I think it allows them to leave Ukraine for 30 days.  Anyway, I thought the U4U was only available for Ukrianian citizens that have been displaced to other countries.

  4. Need some helpful information please.  I have Ukrainian friends living in Lviv.  They are husband and wife.  Trying to find out if they are eligible for Uniting for Ukraine program.  She is deathly afraid of him being called into military service.   I understand there is a program where he can pay a non-refundable fee to the Ukrainian government to authorize vacation to a country outside of Ukraine.  Obviously, she wants him out of harms way and they would return to Ukraine as soon as the war has ended.  Is there a path for them using the Uniting for Ukraine program?

Is it possible to expedite the petition for my sister (F4) due to situation in Ukraine (impending war)? She's still at the USCIS stage, I applied in 2020. My father will be able to come into the country and apply for her soon, would that be an option?

What about for my parent (IR-5), who's at the NVC currently? Also, is it possible to switch the interview to another country when we were auto-assigned to Kyiv for IR-5?

What is the best way to go about it to get them out of the country and safe?

    Really appreciate your advice!!

Be calm.  Life in Ukraine goes on as usual.  If they do not feel safe, then they should try to get to Poland or Moldova by land.  Doubtful any interviews will occur during this time.

As of Sunday, February 13, 2022, the Department of State will suspend consular services at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.  The Embassy will maintain a small consular presence in Lviv, Ukraine to handle emergencies, but will not be able to provide passport, visa or routine consular services.  U.S. citizens may seek these services at U.S. Embassies in neighboring countries.

Is there a way for me to speak with someone else with the embassy to express my dissatisfaction with how they are treating people. If they are going to cancel appointments that are supposed to be right now then they should make available appointment slots as soon as the interviews begin again. I don’t see how they can treat people this way.

Tourist visa cancellations are happening in many countries.  This is the new normal, hate it, but it is what it is.  We have family & friends that are experiencing the same situation where a tourist visa interview was scheduled, canceled, and next available interview is a year or more later.  You can try to express your dissatisfaction but doubtful it will help change anything.  There is no "right" for anyone to receive a tourist visa.  And it's more than likely that people still in queue for their interview will have their interview cancelled too.

Oh my God! I wish you guys soon recovery ! Yes she is vaccinated and boosted.

Just to follow up on my situation with Covid.  On days 6-9 my daily antigen tests showed positive.  On day 10, my antigen test finally showed negative and we have now purchased new airline tickets using our e-credits.  I believe your daughter should hopefully be fully recovered by now and can reschedule her flight to the USA.   Again, good luck!
