Anyone have experience with getting transit visas from Ukraine through the US ? I am thinking of flying two of my wife's friends to meet us in a non-visa country but the best flights seem to change planes in the US.

Any ideas on denial % ? DO you need same requirements to get transit visa as tourist visa ?

They cannot fly through the US without a visa. The US does not have transit visas.

You're going to have to fly them through a different airport outside of the country.

  2. I know changing a last name after marriage is extremely common and not an issue, but what about also changing her first and middle name at the same time?

She's Ukrainian, and her current "middle" name is the Patronymic name after her father.

She wants to give herself a chosen middle name, and also change up her first name to something close, but not quite a direct derivative of her translated given name.

Will this cause any issues for AOS or other parts of the immigration process, assuming our state allows for it as part of the post-marriage name change?

  3. Knowing what I know now, and had my fiance and I been in a relationship a bit longer... I probably would consider going the CR1 route. At the time we filed, of course we planned to marry, but we also had only been engaged for 6 months, and dating for a year and a few months, and at that point had visited in person 4 times including the time I first met her.... On the other hand, I generally think it's a good idea to live with someone for at least a short time before getting married too... (I've been married and divorced before, and had live in significant others in the past)... so I don't regret doing the K1 at all either.

I think both have their place, and each couple's circumstances would make one preferential to the other.

  4. No Scan Updates Today again ((

Just a heads-up. For those awaiting NOA2 after they’ve sent their RFE replies, please check the new USCIS website.

USCIS received our RFE reply on June 22 as shown on the old website. Today, it shows the same update (July 12).

However, when we checked the new website, approval was given on July 9.

Yeah the old website isn't always updated, unfortunately.... congrats by the way!

there are some discrepancies between the two charts if you check out all the numbers... maybe this harvey solano guy hasn't updated the new approvals just yet or the rfe's. though even if i tally driven's total received ones from the received ones from this some of the days still aren't the same number. just noticing and letting you guys know.

This is because by the time he started scanning, some cases had already been approved, and he didn't have the original "received by dates" anymore...

He's here, on this website. @kennharv, that's his website.

  7. 2nd week of January would be cutting it extremely close.... USCIS has been getting slow and slow, not faster and faster... and might slow down even more. On the optomistic end, I'd say 7 months to NOA2, another month to get through NVC and to the Embassy, and then another month to finish everything else (I've heard booking interviews for Japan takes a few weeks).... So if all goes well, maybe you've have a December POE... but with all things K1... I'd really recommend not planning any hard dates.

I know that makes it hard to book venues and what not, but it's one of the prices we pay for getting our loved ones here.

i wonder what's up with our date why they don't touch dec 21. thanks driven for continously doing this for us. are you in charge of jan filers for now too? or has that been someone? some jan filers have been approved. but i think they're really end of dec filers. i guess some of them get confused with the new website shifting dates later. someone in the jan filers post a chart made by a lawyer or k1 service stats in a blue chart. so just wanted to compare to our standard visajourney charts. hehehe. if there was a volunteer for that month already. thanks!

The  chart for January is being done by @kennharv, he's using the same scan data I am, he just wrote his own fancy tool to do it :)

I am not doing January, I have my hands full enough with December and November, and currently doing October as well...

Hi everyone, just reaching out to see if anyone is in a situation like ours, we filed in November 2017 and received our NOA1 on Novermver 27th 2017, however we have not heard anything since. No updates at all, anyone else in the same boat?

    - John & Dani

While they have process most of November, they are not yet finished. At this point though, it might be wise to submit an inquiry about your case.

Also, have you checked the status on the new website?  https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/
