I would look for the first flight today. You need to go through the port of entry to become LPR. A few folks here are in a similar situation... Best luck!

Though currently it’s near imposible for anyone without a passport to get one. I’m stuck in that particular mess as well - they have my citizenship certificate and no idea as to when I will actually get the passport. Some who paid for expedited service (while that was still an option) have been waiting 8 weeks.

This has made me physically ill.
Temporary or not... how long is temporary?

Before I met my fiance, I was single since 2012. Never really was ready to see anyone due to trauma and heart break.
I FINALLY met the love of my life last year.
Then finding out about all the extra scrutiny and higher bars we have to jump over... mentally accepting everything.
We finally decide when to make an official proposal in France before filing the paperwork.
Then we found out of all the hoops, scrutiny, and wait times... fine.
Then my travel plans got canceled... fine
Then the virus happened, can't collect necessary documents, we will have to wait till quarantine restrictions are lifted in our countries... fine
Now this? I mean COME ON, can we get a freaking break?

I really hope this gets pushed back, I refuse to believe our country can let this man just be... flat out cruel.

I'm not creating it. I am just emphasizing with people who's lives have been turned upside down. My own included as we were at the interview stage. I know it will work out and we will be fine but I still feel for everyone.

"Tweeting" something this important is insane. Stuff like this needs to have total and accurate information disseminated.

You are talking about me and I meant at current there was no specified end date to the ban. Because there isn't? Once they announce when it will be lifted people will be able to plan for their lives again.

You misunderstood. I am saying people are stressed because right now this 'suspension' has no end date. So they don't know when they will see their partners. Of course there will eventually be one but right now there is not.

Maybe the president needs to learn to communicate with the public literally instead of figuratively before he figuratively punches immigrant families in the gut.

Hopefully it'll be just a delay. GC is just a document, not a status. Not sure what happens when the conditional residency expires though. I think we're all waiting for some clarifications of the EO. Seems a bit extreme even by Trump's standards.

You know, with the total hell the past several weeks have been, being told to just "be patient" hasn't been very reassuring so far.

Unless you filed via mail, there is no check. It'll be direct deposited in the account you used for 2018 or 2019 tax returns. This is a stimulus for legal US tax payers. If you are a legal US tax payer, then you will be included as an adult as long as you filed taxes.

"Who won’t get a check? The main people excluded from receiving a payment are the wealthy, “nonresident aliens” (i.e., foreigners who do not hold a green card) and “dependents” who can be claimed on someone else’s tax return."

Also unless things have changed in the last year, ROC doesn't ask for financial information or run a check on you for benefits. The taxes they want to see is mainly for financial commingling proof.

No need to be snarky, it's a legitimate question. These are unsure times within the context of USCIS' power over peoples' livelihoods.

Why do you care about everyone else? Let them worry about that. The only person that matters is you. Do you understand the Constitution of the United States? Are you ready to bear arms on behalf of the United States? Those are the questions only you can answer for yourself.

For me, I took my oath very seriously. I understand the Constitution of the United States and I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, against all enemies, foreign and domestic, until my dying breath. I will absolutely bear arms to defend the flag of the United States of America, and the Republic for which it stands. And I take that obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

The new “task force” is looking into cases where immigrants that had deportation orders applied for GCs under a false identity and later naturalized. A legal name change is not even in the same ballpark, especially since you had it changed years AFTER becoming a resident

Because there is a per-country cap for EB2 (but not EB1), which is resulting in those born in India to face a 10+ year backlog. That's not the case for EB1 where the backlog is "only" a few years. So those Indians who can switch to EB1 (almost always EB1C) will do it, causing and facing the shorter backlog. For EB2 the per-country limits allow those from other countries (Rest of World - ROW) to stand in separate lines from the extremely long Indian backlog, which is why EB2 is even faster for ROW applicants than EB1. Hope that helps.

Confused about your last sentence as sponsoring in this sort of case would mean funding his education.

Obviously not cheap but he certainly could apply for a Student Visa using your sponsorship/financials assuming he has no other source.

Lol. So you basically gotta become undocumented until the gods of postal service send you back the originals. But seriously, what happens if the certificate of naturalization gets lost in mail? Removal proceedings? Sounds Kafkaesque.
