    Hello everyone,

I love this forum, thanks for all the help I got here.
strangely today, from about 2pm on until about now, the forum was extremely glitchy.

I could not load the home screen, or profiles or certain sub forums. Now it is all good again. But there were lots of ex144 errors and “query failed” screens.

Does anyone have information on that ?

    😞

I can fill ya in. Yes we have been struggling with a server migration. We had database glitch that was resolved. I'm greatly sorry for the downtime. We are looking to get to a new server to clear these issues up.

Should you see ANY lingering issues today please let me know.

I would worry a lot, not about the Yes or No, but about the emotional cuts of such incidents on the one that's on the receiving end. You are ok on the N400, but is your marriage ok?

Uscis will probably want to know the same things. And I offered help. Though you're refusing to answer some questions that would make it easier to help. Like when was the last k1 filed.. because you might need more than a 1 waiver.

lovethemidwest got a reaction from Kiolas in Conditional Green Card Holder planning on joining the military
Roel, you are almost correct. You can join the army, navy, and marines with a conditional one. The Air Force requires the 10 year green card. I am not sure about the coast guard.

However, I am not sure how advisable it is to try to join under Conditional Permanent residence.
Due to a new regulation every green card holder who intends to join the military, will have to undergo and pass the background investigation process now BEFORE entering the branch of service. You can be admitted into DEP but the enlistment will not further be processed until the checks are done. And as the office that deals with those checks is extremely behind their schedule, this can take up to a year.

So if you have already had your green card for one year prior to enlisting, it could be that by the time you are good to enter the branch of service, your green card is expired and you are waiting for the removal of conditions to be done.

That is in some branches a problem, as the extension letter is not valid shipping document resulting in, again, a wait.
It might be advisable for some to just wait until they have the 10 year green card.

lovethemidwest got a reaction from Kiolas in Green card holders delayed/waiting to ship for bootcamp due to the new DoD policy of Oct 2017
That is not correct, his recruiter is definitely NOT the best person to advise as he does not have any influence or knowledge of the applicant’s status or estimated timeline. He would solely be able to one day tell the applicant know if the suitability determination was approved or declined.

the rule is so new that there is not a lot of experience out there as to how long it takes by average to be done with the process. All the information available so far says 2-12 months.

however it seems some branches are extending the DEP time to a total of 18 months which is concerning as that seems to indicate that it could take....long.

The poster is also not aggravated by the “relatively short wait” but by the uncertainty IF any given ship date will at all be realistic and, for instance, if he/she should consider other career options or not, plan on retiring from their current job or not, extend the lease one more year or not, put family planning on hold for a while or not.

I believe that to be a very different waiting than the one current members of the armed forces have to deal with.

    Hello all,

as I already stated, I am a March filer, but as I got tremendous help from this group here as well, I felt like giving a short progress report from my interview this morning.

In summary, It could not have gone any easier and smoother. I was supposed to be there at 8AM and was, not too long of a waiting line and a nice room to relax in while waiting for my name to be called. Mrs. Lovethemidwest was with me but was very politely told it would only be me needed for the interview.

The interview took hardly 20 minutes. We received some of the basic information after the officer had a look at my file. He verified my passport and my free card, no joint interview, by the way.
Then he asked me many of the yes/no questions, asked me a bit about my travel history in the last years, etc.
I answered all the civics questions right and the very simple English test. I was approved on the spot. And now we are celebrating by having fancy hipster coffee to go on a nice hipster neighborhood walk, and soon we will have fancy hipster pizza here followed by ice cream.

Biggest surprise: He didn’t ask for any of the required documents but my passport and green card.

Biggest downer: He said I should soon get a letter for an interview date....and that I should be a citizen in two months.....I know this sounds like a first world problem to complain about, but I thought being scheduled for the oath was a rather quick process. Everything has been so fast so far, I applied early in March and it has luckily been nothing but smooth sailing. I have to admit I was hoping to celebrate July 4th as a US Citizen, oh well.

I appreciate this forum and all the support here a lot !

Congratulations there. Almost there. That was a smooth interview process.
regarding the oath ceremony, it depends on the court and availability for the ceremony. The good news is the hard part is done which is the interview. The oath letter can come from now and like the IO said till 2 months or more. Sometimes there are additional internal workings that need to be done after the interview and after that is completed you are put in line for the oath which is dependent on the court ceremony availability.
You will soon get it I’m sure hopefully within a week or two.
