NotMoreForms got a reaction from thongho2910 in N400 March 2020 Filers
Just checked by status this morning and my estimated completion date has disappeared.  It was September 2020 for a long time.  Back to waiting and watching people who filed after me get interviews at the same office as me.
  2. Thanks
NotMoreForms got a reaction from Can49 in Just filed: what’s expected for biometrics?
Normally the time for biometrics is included in the estimated time, however with bio so slow I would expect the delay to push out the completion time.

Well just checked my estimated completion date on the USCIS website and it is still saying September this year.  I have not had anything since I submitted, so either it is going to be a busy month, or the estimated completion date will have to shift.  I know which one I would put my money on...

There is no rush to file N-400.  Yes the fee is going up but if the money is not available now then wait for filing.  Once the ROC has completed you will have a 10 year green card which can be extended if required.  I have met people who have been green card holders for 30 years +.  Important things to consider relate to how LPR differs from citizen and if any affect you.  There are the obvious ones, but the less well known are:  estate tax rules are different, some retirement rules are different, some jobs want US Citizenship.

If it was just different offices then I would expect at least an equal number of March filers to be getting interviews, but there seems to be very little activity amongst us.

Looks like the March 2020 filers are stuck in limbo.  I notice little activity here, while May and June seem quite active with some people there already scheduled for interviews.  I also have nothing, not even biometrics with estimated completion September 2020 (that's next month!).

NotMoreForms got a reaction from isamomof3 in Filed N400 in March 2020, still no biometrics
Within the March 2020 group there has been little progress.  The time for your biometrics will depend to some extent which ASC you are assigned to, and how much backlog they have to deal with.  I am also a March filer and have not heard anything since the original NOA,

Depends which office you are assigned to.  There are people who applied in May 2020 who already have interview appointments.  My application however seems to be glued to the floor...

I have found with governments the best path is always to provide exactly what they ask for, no more and no less.  I did not provide tax returns.  I will be taking them with me to the interview.

From the USCIS website (with my bold)

Beginning June 4, 2020, certain USCIS field offices and asylum offices will resume non-emergency face-to-face services to the public. Application support centers will resume services later.

NotMoreForms got a reaction from Zaidba in Applying for citizenship on USCIS website?!
I uploaded the documents that the online application requested, nothing more, nothing less.  My application is still in process so I cannot say if that was the correct thing to do.  My decision was based purely on having dealt with government websites before, it is usually best to do exactly what they request.

NotMoreForms got a reaction from Phoenix777 in Virtual Ceremony is now coming?
I see this as good news, at least they are considering alternatives.  Also as they specifically differentiate judicial ceremonies, that suggests the small ceremonies may be less formal and so more flexible.

Various responses in the forum suggest that things are progressing during the shut downs.  I did hear on the radio that for the SSA productivity had gone up during the shutdown.  Hopefully USCIS is similar.

Each person is different, but for me I can't see any reason why I could not provide the recent history details and swear the oath at the end of the interview (even if not approved at that stage), then simply get the certificate in the mail.  I don't see any benefit of sitting around for hours with a thousand strangers just to have a ceremony.

I just filed a few days ago.  My thoughts were that once the application is in I am in the queue and so hopefully will have some "head start" once the doors open again.
