Hubby and I are in a similar boat. ROC filed Feb 2017. N400 filed March 2018. Combo Interview March 5th 2019. The IO said he was approving both. A week later we got his approval letter for ROC and new 10 year GC a couple days later we got a RFE for more relationship evidence for N400 ; doesn't make much sense when they approved his ROC. We submitted all evidence on uscis website on March 15th. No update since then.

BTW we did bring all relationship evidence to interview but IO didn't take any of it.

Tax returns are the strongest evidences. It WILL be a combo interview. They cannot adjudicate a N400 without first approving ROC.

On our letter it did not say it was going to be a combo interview either. But it was; the IO made it clear he was interviewing him for ROC and N400. Bring all evidences you have. My hubby and I have a fair amount of evidence but not joint bank account. But we do transfer money back and forth. And they can be seen on statements. Supply what you have.

If you're applying based on the 5 year rule you shouldn't need to bring your spouse. BUT I would still bring all evidence of relationship from the past 3 years. Since you did obtain your permenant residence by marrying a US citizen. Dont leave anything to chance. It's better to bring everything and not need it then to not bring everything and then get a RFE.

I know someone else who got a similar RFE for their N400 but that was because they needed to prove they paid the taxes they owed. They were approved only after a week or so of submitting RFE response. We've been waiting a month probably because MN field office is typically always backed up.

Firstly it depends on the lawyer. Make sure it's a good lawyer. Secondly insist to the lawyer you proof read everything before he sends it off. My husband and i have been utilizing the same lawyer since we started with the k1 fiance visa. We are now at the N400 stage. Things have gone smoothly until now when we got a RFE post interview. I'm glad we have a lawyer now to advise us. And someone who can submit a writ of mandamus if uscis takes too long to adjudicate our N400 RFE response. Someone who can help us in court if the N400 is denied.

Getting a lawyer is like purchasing insurance for your immigration paperwork. I'm personally glad we hired a lawyer now since we've hit a bump in the road.

Someone else’s wedding can’t and should never be more important than your relationship especially when immigration is involved. It’s your decision in the end so do what you guys think is best for you.

You'd risk the k1, just to attend someone else's wedding? How important is your relationship to you?

Hello everyone. My husband was almost done with the immigration process with citizenship when after interview we got a RFE for more relationship evidence. We are 100% legit and have tax returns, leases, health insurance etc but it seems to not be a thick enough paper file for uscis. If the application gets denied based on us not having enough evidence he will be in danger of deportation since uscis will not believe we are legit.

I'm trying to put together a backup plan. Moving to the UK together. One of the requirements is that he is to have recently been living there obviously he doesn't meet that requirement because he's been here.

However under the exception list is the following: there would be very significant difficulties for you and your partner if you lived together as a couple outside the UK that could not be overcome.

Would him being deported count as one of those?
And for the financial requirement I know you have to have $20,000 in savings. We don't have that. Could we take out a cash loan and we pay it back from the UK?
Final question is I have a chronic medical condition Type 1 diabetes. Would this make me inadmissible?

It depends on the adjudicator. If a weak marriage gets a lenient adjudicator they can get approved and if a strong marriage with a skinny paper trail gets a strict adjudicator things can derail..

There is something we can do and that's withdraw. We are trying to figure out if that's the safest option here. Also I don't want us losing our minds for the next 180 days.

Hubby had his interview last week he was recommend for approval for both. He got his ROC approval notice and new GC in the mail a few days ago. Today he got a RFE on his N400 to send more relationship evidence. He brought an entire binder of relationship evidence to the interview and the IO only glanced at it and didn't take anything. Now this happens. If we didn't have sufficient ROC evidence why was ROC approved so quickly and N400 hindered? We've responded electronically to the RFE. We don't expect to hear anything for a while.

It sat at My interview is scheduled for a week after until yesterday it changed to we have sent you a request for evidence. We replied electronically. Now it says we have my response for evidence requested has been received. We received his approval notice for ROC and his new GC a week after interview. I feel like we've been cheated especially since he brought the binder of all his evidence. The IO foolishly didn't take it. Thinking about writing to our congress person about this and hopefully they force the case to expedite.

We sent everything we have on the RFE. I submitted tax returns from the past 3 years, CRPs, leases from the past 3 years, a convention ticket, a couple Co op memberships, and several utility bills. I don't know if that's enough for them I hope it is. It doesn't seem like much to me. We are home bodies. We don't do much besides work and rest at home.

I downloaded a free trial of Adobe Acrobat DC that allows you to merge and compress files. I submitted tax returns from the past 3 years, CRPs, leases from the past 3 years, a convention ticket, a couple Co op memberships, and several utility bills. It took 2 hours to upload them and about 6 hours to scan everything in and merge them just right because each file had to be just under 6 mb. We will be lucky if we're done by the end of the year now.

    Hey Guys,
I had my N-400 interview today, and it was really fast and straightforward. I was scheduled for my interview at around 1:30pm. I arrived at the appointment exactly 1pm. I went through security and was scanned  and instructed to check-in at the front desk. When I went to the front desk, I was instructed to look at the canera for my picture to be taken. After my picture was taken, I was given a number and told to sit anywhere until my number is called. After sitting for 15mins, the IO called my number and I met him at the door. He confirmed my number and asked me to follow him to his office. In his office, he told me to raise my right hand and promise to say the truth during the interview. After promising  to say the truth, he instructed me to sit and he went straight into the civics questions. I answered the first six questions asked and he told me that I passed the civics test. He then instructed me to read a sentence and also write a sentence which I did with ease. After that, we went over my n400 application asking me all the questions intially answered in order to confirm my answers. He updated my application based on some information that have changed since I submitted my application. After the interview, he told me that he was recommending my application for approval. Within minutes, my case updated with status saying that I am in line for an oath ceremony. Overall, I had a great experience and hope other do have similar experience. Everyone I interacted with today were very nice. Even the security officer at the entrance didn’t even bother looking at my appointment letter. He asked me to show him my appointment letter but I had it in the midst of a lot of other documents and couldn’t locate it so easily so he told me to just go and have myself scanned. I carried a lot of additional evidence but the interviewing officer didn’t even request for any. I hope everyone have a very good experience with their interview.

So today was the combo interview ROC/N400.      We parked in the Marquette Plaza, it was extremely full. We found one vacant spot which we swiftly took. Went up to 7th floor and checked in. While waiting in lobby we went through our civics test flashcards one more time. His number was called, we didnt hear it, the IO ended up coming out and collecting him. He was a tall african american with a warm smile. So he took him in and I stayed in the waiting room so everything else I am about to say is from what my hubby told me.      He asked him "Is your wife here too?" he said "yes shes in the waiting room".     They then sat down and went through the application. Then did the civics questions. He got the first 6 right so then they stopped there since he passed already. He then recited a sentence in english and wrote a sentence in english. He misspelled a word by accident but the IO said that was alright.     Then they went onto the I-751. He asked what date did you get married? And what dates did you come and visit prior to K1 fiance visa? My husband is really bad with remembering dates and was honest and said he didnt remember but that the dates were in the binder he brought in. So he looked them up and told him. The IO didnt seem bothered that he didnt know them off the top of his head. Asked when we met and how we met. He said we met on a online message board. The IO asked what was the name of it. But he didnt remember and (I dont remember either to be honest, the message board was shut down shortly after we met).     The IO was satisfied with everything and said I am recommending you for approval for I-751 and N400. He also said he couldnt properly approve the N400 until 3 days from now because he has to approve the I-751 in the system first. He then handed him two papers one saying he had been reccomended for approval for I-751 and second for N400 saying A decision cannot be made at this time.  Surprisingly enough he never called me back to interview me. I was expecting it.  So that was our day.
