Bringing medications to the U.S and How to get a Driver's Licence within the shortest possible time in Phoenix, Arizona

I had my interview and got visa in hand two days after. Now, i'm prepping for my trip to the U.S, and want some insights on the following

 

1. I will like to bring with me a couple of inhalers (Ventolene) for my Spouse, maybe five but i'm wondering if 10 would be an overkill. It's cheaper down here than in the United States, so i'm of the thoughts if i will be allowed to bring them since i'm not the one with the condition. More-so, does it require a medical prescription?

 

2. I want to go on several road trips  as soon as possible when i move to the States. What's the fastest way possible to get a driver licence? I will like to get one within a month of entrance , is that feasible ?

1.  That is Albuterol.  It requires a prescription. I wouldn't try it.

2.  Drivers licenses are controlled by each state. Check the DMV for Arizona.

Even if u had a prescription, its not your medicine and big NO

if u could get a dr to write it in spouse's name,  it would also be seized by CBP as its not yours

 

otherwise the rule is

prescription drugs need dr written prescription and need to be in plastic zip lock bags

I brought a easy dozen inhalers with me no issues when we moved.  I have seen many USC in the Canadian pharmacies getting big bottles of cough syrup with codeine because they didn't need a prescription in Canada.

As a general rule of thumb, CBP will be quite strict about any prescription medications that are scheduled controlled substances.  But, they could generally care less about any non-scheduled prescription medicines.  I feel extremely confident that no one ever got any grief over 5 or 10 non-scheduled asthma inhalers.  CBP would only care at all if they suspected they were counterfeit or if they were commercial quantities.  Even if they were just fishing for a reason to hassle someone they wouldn't do it over a few asthma inhalers.  I wouldn't have the slightest qualms about carrying them myself.

Generally you have to wait for your SSN and proof of status to apply for US DL in most states (as an LPR applicant).

you will most likely have to wait 1-2 weeks for SSN to arrive and then fulfill any and all of the requirements (written test and driving test) before license is issued… this will be state and county specific.

Just make sure you have you Nigerian Driver License Valid with that you will just to study and pass the driving test...Make sure to check your state DMV for documents they need for you to present

UPDATE: I came in with 15 bottles of inhalers and some other meds and medicated creams for personal use and there was no hazzle whatsoever.

You got lucky, imo.  I wouldn't recommend doing that.  I don't think that bringing in a large quantity of prescription drugs which are NOT for personal use is a good idea.

Oh My bad, i didn't state all the in-between information.

 

When my wife came visiting a a point, she went to our family Doctor in my country. So they have the records. I just had her medical records in the United States and in my country with the past prescription she got and the recent one. These are what i carried on me. I was asked and i explained and there was no hassle whatsoever. 

 

I was also told at POE 10-15 inhalers(with appropriate prescription) is like just 6 months supply, so no big deal and YES, you are allowed to carry meds (with all the right documents on behalf of others as long as they are immediate relations.
