After interview / administrative review (merged)

Hello everyone, 

 

hope someone can help me clarify and shed light 💡 my father attended his interview in Bogota, Colombia 🇨🇴 in July 14 we provided all documents but one important one was missing my original birth certificate which did not arrive in time for the interview. Nevertheless, he attended the interview everything seemed to run smoothly even in the first filter they mentioned to my father that the missing document would not delay or stop the process. Counselor kept his passport and He was given a yellow slip (administrative review) is what I understand along with a white sheet congratulating him and that he is elegible to apply for residency / residency fee of 225 . 
 

My birth certificate should be arriving to Colombia sometime tomorrow , and he should be giving the birth certificate to complete the process .. is there a possibility knowing that they kept the passport that he can be issued a visa or until they review my birth certificate and once all complete he would be issued a visa ? I ask this as the first filter in the embassy stated the missing the document would not delay/stop his visa issuance ?

Yes a visa is expected.

They were wrong.  A missing document will delay the case.  Do NOT pay the $220 Green card fee until after the visa is issued.  Hopefully, that will happen in a day or so.

I thought that was it, Hopefully, once i give the birth certificate tomorrow they will review it as soon as possible. Does anyone know of the timeframe they normally take reviewing (Administrative processing)? I think in general it is 60 days or does this vary by embassy and country, as i stated my father is located in Bogota, Colombia.

Hello to everyone.

 

At my father's interview on July 14, he was issued a yellow slip instructing him to present a missing document, in this case my original birth certificate, which was provided to the consulate here on May 21. When I viewed the visa status page, it always indicated that the most recent update was made on July 14. Today, however, it indicated that the most recent update was made on July 28, but the status still reads "refused." Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm wondering if the fact that I haven't received any email notifications about the change is good or bad.

CEAC website updated from “Administrative Processing” to “Refused” On March 3, 2020. It doesn't mean a denial.

Hello and thanks for the response.

 

We recently learned some encouraging news, checked this morning, and the case status was changed to ISSUED. In reality, it took nearly a week since I submitted in the missing paperwork on July 21st, 2023, and two weeks from the interview date of July 14th, 2023.

Let us know when visa is in hand.

 

Since this is IR-5, there is no reason to delay entering the U.S. once visa is in hand.
