Anyone got divorced, after 6 months got married again, submitted case and got approved?

I did not apply for a green card with ex husband who is a US citizen. (After married, he turned very abusive so I’m glad I didn’t).

With current partner, we have been good friends for years and after my divorce, we decided to make it to the next level. So I have evidence of different events we have shared together.

I overstayed my tourist visa.

I talked to my lawyer who said there is no rule for the time I should wait to remarry and thinks it should be at least 6 months. However but no extra legal advice rather than preparing well the case.

I share this information not to be judged but to know if someone went through the same or similar experience.

Many people have done it...

As a consequence, now USCIS scrutinizes BOTH marriages.

Even if you didn't file for GC based on first marriage.

They will also scrutinize your tourist visa application and maybe investigate your activities while you were out of status.

Were you married before you arrived to the US? They will investigate that marriage and divorce, too...

You need to lawyer up!

USCIS will most likely suspect a visa gc shopping intention for the first marriage, then a cheeky friend assist for the second with a common goal.of reaching the green card glory. expect heavy scrutiny during the process
